Need help picking BM paint colors!!

Hello this is my first time posting on here so I hope I am in the right area. We just moved into a house that is spacious with a large open floor plan downstairs. Prior to us moving in, the previous owners had the entire house (every single room) painted in BM's Mohair color. It seems like it was a good choice...a nice warm creamy color. However I am not a fan of monochromatic color schemes and so am looking to add accents of color throughout the downstairs that will give visual interest but at the same time keeping a good flow from room to room.

Okay okay...here is the question at hand. I am currently decorating the downstairs bathroom. The hallway outside the bathroom is in the Mohair color. We have just installed beadboard wainscoting on the bottom 1/3 of the wall (the walls are 9 feet high). The tile on the floor is an almond color (not a pale almond; but a richer almond color). The shower is a solid surface almond and the toilet is a lighter almond. We have just purchased a country french style vanity that is painted black with a granite sinktop that is beige with flecks of gingery gold in it and subtle flecks of black here and there. I also purchased sage green towels with a purple flower embroidered on them which I love. I very much like the sage & lavender combination.

Sooooo...originally I had visions of painting the bathroom Dune Grass because that color is similar to the towels but after analyzing, I think it best to keep neutral colors on the walls that coordinate with the granite sinktop.

I intend on keeping the baseboard, doors, and chair rail white. I want to paint the beadboard a warm golden honey color and above the chair rail a complimentary color.

Given all that detailed information, I am interested in any recommendations for paint colors. I have been analyzing paint swatches like crazy and keep pacing in the hallway outside the bathroom trying to come up with the right choice. My husband is thinking I am looney at this point LOL. What I am leaning towards now is going with Brunswick Beige for the top 2/3 of the wall above the chair rail. (This color is a darker value on the same card that Mohair is on). For the beadboard I am considering the Mohair but am questioning if that will look bland because the hallway outside the bathroom is Mohair.

Yes - I like the brunswick beige and I think it goes very well with all your other choices as well as going with your hallway color.

When my son was doing his house he got some great advice from his paint store. He had painted his dining room taupe and they wanted to do the kitchen in green. The green they chose was awful next to the taupe. Back to the paint store.

The guy said that when you are painting adjoining rooms that can be seen from each other a good choice is to look for a paint on the same paint chip card. They went to sage green and it looks great.

Thank you oilpainter....so your son re-painted the kitchen sage green? Or did he re-paint the dining room? Which card was he picking the green color from?

Yes I have heard of that as well, using differnt values off of the same card for open floor plans and using different punches of accent colors in each room to add interest. My sister in law did this in her house. She has a center hall colonial, just like us, and she used different values of a taupey brown color all throughout the house. In the dining room she put a darker value of the taupey color above her chair rail and below the chair rail used a dark navy blue. In her sitting room she has the taupey color above the chair rail, with a deep dark maroonish color under the chair rail. So all the rooms seem unified and timeless but each room as its own distinct look with the accent color below the chair rail and in her drapes and furnishings.

Just wanted to update. I went to SW and they did allow me to buy the paint during the sale and then I can bring it back to be tinted. They also said if I do not use any of my non-mixed paint that I could return it. So I bought 2 gallons more than I estimated, just in case. I am really happy! I save a ton of I also think I am going to go with Anonymous. I think my original problem was that I was hoping for a color and white to really dramatically change my house--- which of course is just plain silly. But I do like the color, so I am thinking of adding shutters and painting them and maybe the garage or front door a fun color that will give the house the personality I am looking for. Thanks again! Caminnc- that iced marble color is really neat. It reminds me of my kitchen/dining room that is done in BM gray wisp. I wonder if that would work as an accent? Now I just need to find a good accent color for SW Annonymous!

The Ben Moore website show both New York State of Mind and Kangaroo matching up with yellows, 178 Golden Lab and 296 Good Vibrations, respectively. Hello! I would appreciate the help of anyone who understands paint colors, undertones, lighting, and all that good stuff. We recently closed on our home and moving in soon. Painters are coming in Monday to begin work and I only have a couple days to pick paint colors. I am most concerned about the family room. The pictures I have posted show the color the previous owners had (along with their furniture). We are keeping the shelves on the wall and the shelving unit under the JOY sign will be in the room as well. Our couch and overall color of the room will be on the beige/cream/brown scheme of things, with possibly some pops of jade or dark navy. Anyways, I currently HATE the green color (green undertone?) that is currently in the room. I want a beige/neutral color. I spoke with a design consultant where I am purchasing paint from and she recommended BJ Muslin or Moccasin for the room. I initially liked the Muslin color but keep reading online that there is a definite "pink" undertone to it which scares me. I definitely don't want that. I am trying to learn more about BM Moccasin but sadly cannot find much information about it online. Does anyone know what kind of an undertone it has? For reference, it is a north facing room with lots of windows as well as sky lights. I am not sure what the natural lighting is like because, unfortunately, we are moving states, so I will not be able to be back in the house until AFTER painting is done and we move in. Double whammy, I know! That is what's making this process so difficult. I went and got paint samples today to see the colors in real light, but unfortunately I cannot see them in the actual room. Please help! Oh, and the kitchen is open to the family room, which is BJ Revere Pewter... if that helps? Also, there are areas of clear discoloration in the hardwood flooring where rugs were placed so this tells me that the room must have a lot of natural sun light even though it is north facing? Just an assumption but don't really know for sure.

Yes they left the dining room taupe and painted the kitchen with the sage green. It all looks like your sister-in-laws ---unified. I would like to see your sister-in-laws place I'll bet it's stunning. Yours will be too.

I think the secret to unifying any room or rooms is repetition of some of the colors.

I was thinking about your bathroom after I looked up what color mohair was. I think I'd put the mohair--lightest color on top and the brunswick beige on the bottom. They say putting the dark color on the bottom grounds the room. Unless you go even darker on the bottom, but then you run into putting it against the dark vanity.

Because the mohair has some pink in it you might also be able to go with it and do sage green on the bottom

I really think you should make few big sample boards and do some trying out.
