Sarah I love your vanity and basket weave flooring, but I don't care for that shower curtain with that flooring. I would think a solid color or something solid with a trim, you know something more simple would go better with the floor.

I would automatically recommend toile but you said you didn't go toward Victorian so I didn't know if you'd find toile too fru fru for you.

Here is a photo of my master bath with the similar vanities and light green aka knowwn as BM's Cashmere Gray. I have the basket weave tile in my guest bath that is decorated with an antique dresser and will have toile curtains. Here are some photo's for you to look at. Don't know if they will be of any help.

As a side note, I purchased my black and white tile, which is not a true basket weave, but gives the illusion it is, at HD. It is unglazed so it was less expensive. It requires a sealer put on it to keep it from staining, but it is worth the trouble and saving a few hundred dollars. I think we paid $8 or something like that a sq. ft. for the black and white tile.

Thanks for the input! I don't mind toile myself...just haven't seen one that I love yet. I know I don't want black & white, and I'm not sure that I want green either (I kind of have my green fix satiated in the kitchen with a light green subway tile backsplash...yet to be installed, but looking good in their boxes!).

I love your tile--looks great!! But I already bought the tile shown above a couple of weeks ago for $12.99/sf. Couldn't get close to that here at our local tile shop--similar basketweaves started at $28+! I couldn't believe it! The one I really liked was $35/sf! So I went back to option #1 and went with the basketweave from The Tile Shop.

I'm hanging on to the shower curtain above, but hunting around online for something I like better...the shower curtain selection out there is DISMAL at best? Where does everyone buy them?

We bought a very nice shower curtain online from JCPenney. You might want to check there.

Have you tried Marshalls or T.J.Maxx or even Restoration Hardware? They have a good selection of shower curtains.

Before I remodeled my bathroom it had a shower w/curtain rather than glass doors. And I had a shower curtain made (out of chenelle) that looked like a bathrobe. It sounds tacky but it looked fabulous. Also, had a bedroom sofa and cornices done in same fabric. Sorry, we were talking about your place.

I happen to like the blue, but what about tan or a beige? Do you think it would look too bland?

You say you live in a 1870 farmhouse? Have you ever posted pictures of your home? I bet it is gorgeous.

I live in a Victorian cottage built in 1895. But I have nothing Victorian in my house, I hate victorian frou frou stuff as well.

Glad you were able to get your tile at such a reasonable price. It can get very expensive. Can't help on the shower curtain referral except to say I also like Penney's accessories. They have a great selection, good prices and quality products.

I think a white textured shower curtain would be better. I like the chenille ones. You can find them online. White would keep the room crisp and farmhouse looking. The one you chose is nice but not suited to a farmhouse. I love everything else in the room.

The photo you posted, with the shower curtain and blue walls. I think it is perfect. The modern edge with an old time sensibility, it is a good mix.

Uggh...still looked online last night for one I liked better. Penny's, Macy's, Restoration Hardware, PB, Kohl's, The Company Store, etc.

I absolutely can do a plain white shower curtain--as I did in our downstairs bath (a really nice, canvass-y duck cloth). I wish I really liked that waffle weave material that is EVERYWHERE. I don't know why I don't love that. I guess I just wanted some color. But I readily admit that my choice of shower curtains tends to be more modern than the rest of my taste. Weird!

Any other online sources that have cool shower curtains?? I'm so focused on this because I'm going to have to go To Sherwin-Williams later today and pick out paint...and I would like to make sure it goes with the curtain I picked.

Isn't beige/tan/white so BLAH for a bathroom? How else could I spice it up?

I don't think that combo of colors is blah, it's soothing and clean and crisp, lol.
I like the Banded Sateen shower curtain at Restoration, in ivory or flax, it's very neutral.
I prefer shower curtains to not "pop" too much in the decor, it lets the other elements take forefront.

I think the banded curtains would be perfect as they don't have too much visually going on and the other elements in the room would stand out. What about a beautiful white with blue banding and a blue paint to match the banding? Oh la la, that would be pretty.

I always struggle with shower curtains! I just bought one at anthropologie-- it hasn't arrived yet they have many styles that have a vintage feel but a fresh design.

Thanks! I forgot about Anthropologie--I like the vibe with most of their stuff (not so sure DH is as "down" with it)...went to one in the city and LOVED it... (the sale prices weren't too bad...but I do remember a bit of sticker-shock with some things...ouch!)

And I do like the banded shower curtains...but I don't have a Restoration Hardware near me and they have SO many colors...I wouldn't know which one to pick. There's one at Macy's called the Hotel Color Block--maybe that one? But I kind of wish I could get chocolate brown or tan mixed in with the accent color so it's all pulled together.

I really want to introduce some color into the palatte, I guess. And the guest room right across the hall is a cheery bright yellow, that I just adore...and think it would look weird to have a bland tan/beige right across the hall. It's a super bright bathroom with a full-size south-facing window...so I kind of want bright, clean and cheery.

Have you looked at fabric? It's so easy to do a custom shower curtain. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can have one made. I always go custom as I love fabric and you have soooo many more choices that way. Plus, I like a shower curtain longer than most of the ones you buy.

That said, I do like the picture above and the banded shower curtain. I also like those colors and think it would look nice in your bathroom.
