Comments (10)Thanks for thinking along. There is a drain in the shower, but the lack of separation combined with the small size of the room will still lead to everything getting wet. I have thought of a glass separation, but it will also block the way from the door to the sink. A store showed me doors that can fold inwardly. That sounds amazing, but they're also very expensive and I need to re-rout the water pipes... Yes, I am in the NL. How'd you discover that? ;)...See Moreadvice please on budget bathroom reno
Comments (51)Oh dear. I am feeling so undecided. I put another coat of the Polyshades on last night and it does look nice now -- dark and even. But it definitely is "mahogany" -- deep, dark red. Not the espresso color I had envisioned. But I am now hesitant to start putting on other products and other colors. I'm worried that it will look uneven, or that I will just end up with a mess. Arg -- this is what I get for being impulsive and not doing enough research up front. Anyway, I am heading out to a music festival today, so I am going to take a break from obsessing about stain and see how I feel when I get home. Maybe I will just put the new hardware in and see how I feel about it once the tile is in. The overall impression of the room is more important than the precise shade of stain on the vanity, right? Although -- I suspect that I will have a hard time finding a wall cabinet (for over the vanity) to match this stain color -- I've looked around and there is a lot of "espresso" and white (and still a bit of golden oak). Maybe a "cherry" cabinet would co-ordinate, if not match. Anyway, I need to get my mind off all this for a few hours. Have a good weekend, everyone!...See MoreUpstairs bathroom ... Comments (63)Auntjen, when I get out of the shower, Zephyr rushes over to lick any water on my legs or feet. Rather than waste water till it warms up in the bathroom, I catch it in bowls and pour into buckets in the shower (used later in the garden). The minute I turn on the water, both cats come running to drink from the buckets or dip their paws in. High excitement!...See Morehelp choosing bathroom window covering
Comments (16)Beautiful bathroom! I love Heidi’s style, too, as well as a certain European aesthetic. I would absolutely do cafe curtains. Besides fitting your style well, they’ll allow the pretty windows on top to show. (Unless you need total privacy, of course.) You can hang cafes higher than the middle: I think vintage style shutters would be charming, too. Curtains can be beautiful in bathrooms, and if you used a french return rod, they’d clear your lights. But I think for your set-up, cafes or shutters would be my choice. Roman shades and other types of shades might be a pain to mess with over the tub, I can’t tell from the picture.. You don’t want to take away from the charm using something utilitarian like solars, et al....See Moreguppy_2009
