google pinterest 101 there are tutorials that cover everything

Love Pinterest and got my daughter hooked as well, mostly for recipes for her, decorating and fashion for me.

Thanks ravencajun, I have checked out the Pinterest 101, but don't see where it says anything about being able to pin a picture saved on your computer. That was a good tutorial though & I will re-check it for more info. :)

In the upper right hand corner of the screen, just to the left of your name you'll see a link that says Add+

Click on Add+ and a screen will come up that says Upload a Pin. Then it will ask you to Browse your computer and find the item you want to upload. Open the item and upload it to one of your boards.

I was told by Pinterest I was accepted, but I can't seem to log in without a Facebook acct. I refuse to join Facebook. Do you know how I can sign in to Pinterest without going through FB?

I really, really really want to be on Pinterest.

From Pinterest support:

"Pinterest requires Facebook or Twitter to create a new account. We do this to make it easier to find people you already know on Pinterest and to help prevent spam accounts. Activity on Pinterest is never posted automatically: only pins/repins can be shared and you will control when you want to do so, if at all.
If you don't want to join through Facebook, we recommend opening a Twitter account because the registration is very lightweight.

After you join Pinterest, you can always unlink, or even delete, your Facebook/Twitter account and still log in with your email address and password.
Once you're ready, be sure to click your invite link from Pinterest to begin registration."

Then to disconnect your Pinterest account from Facebook:

"1.Log into Pinterest and go to your Settings page (https://pinterest.com/settings/)
2.Change "Link to Facebook/Twitter" to OFF. Click Save. This disconnects the Facebook/Twitter account"

that is why I am not on many of those sites as a registered member I WILL NOT as in NEVER have a Facebook account period.I think it is extremely unfair and discriminating to limit users that way.

I do scroll through pinterest and find good recipes to copy but that is the extent of it.

There are several similar sites to pinterest out there.

I have a Facebook account but rarely use it. I mostly have some local businesses and websites that I like, there. I even joined using a fictitious name.

Thanks RavenCajun. I didn't know anyone could go into Pinterest and browse and download recipes. I looked at Pinterest briefly once, and it doesn't interest me at all to join.

Once again, I'm so thankful I don't have children. They wouldn't be allowed near FB, ever, and then I would again be the meanest mom in the world!

You do not have to be a member of Facebook to join Pinterest. Send me your email and I will send you an invitation to join.

Caroline, I was also accepted by Pinterest and they want me to link to my (all private) FB account. Because of that, I haven't done anything more with it. I haven't tried the instructions that Tally provided yet.

I didn't have to do anything with facebook to join.. My DIL sent me an invite and that was it..

Yes Jasdip you can go to it and scroll through the list, I go to the one labeled Popular, if you see something of interest just click on it and it will take you to the link with the information on the item including the recipes associated with the pictures.
I then just save any of these to a folder I created on my computer titled Pinterest finds. You can also just create a new fave/bookmark file in your browser and save them there. The recipes I like I also usually copy then paste into a word document and save it to my recipes folder. This process works
great for me.
If I feel like sharing some things I copy the link to an email and send it out.
