my child has been circumsized but his forskin is still attached

My son was circumcized but his forskin is still atached.he is now 2 years old. you can see the head but not the ring i have taken him to the doc and he said that the person who did the circumcision did not cut the forskin back far enough and it healed over the penis is there anyone wlts out there that also had this problem with there child if so will it correct itself like the doc told me or what should i do ???? please email me or post me a letter if u know anything!!!

My friend went through the same thing with her son. She ended up having to get him recircumcised, however, they like to do it before 18 mos old or some age close to that. The thing is, she had to go to a urologist (who also did the surgery). I would make an appointment with a urologist and see what they have to say. Good luck to you and your son.

PS--My friend's son is doing great. The only thing is his penis is super sensitive (possibly from the recirc.).

My son is 22 months and he doesn't looked cir'd but he is. I took him to a urologist who said that it was better to leave too much. He said that little boys are not suppose to have the head of their penis showing. It's supposed to be cover by baby fat and some extra skin. I've spoken to several experienced moms and they said that their boys were cut all the way. His urologist also said that cir'd boys needed to have the skin pulled back every diaper change to avoid skin adhesions. Another new one to my friends. I clean it but never knew to pull it back every diaper change. My son has skin adhesions that they want to remove. He will be put under to do this and the doctor is removing more of his foreskin because he has a little too much left over. My sister's baby was cir'd by the same doctor and he too has to go back to have more removed. I think his urologist just didn't want to say that the first doctor didn't do enough.

Hi Joshua, I'm sure by now you have come to a conclusion on how to treat your child's problems, but in case you haven't, I wanted to post my experience with this situation. My 2 yr old daughter just had her tubes, tonsils and adenoids done. I, like you, would rather treat health issues in a homeopathic way, so I did some research. I found out quit a bit on the subject. First, I found out that ear infections are one of the most common symptoms of enlarged adenoids. Other symptoms are snoring, sinus infections, and obstructive sleep apnea. (Central sleep apnea has nothing to do with adenoids and is caused by the brain malfunctioning.) Next, I found that there have been numerous studies done proving that, although our tonsils and adenoids are a part of our immune system, they actually play little to no part in actually "fighting" infection, and when removed have little or no impact on the way our body fights infection. In my experience, I have found that antibiotics cause more damage to our bodies than this somewhat minor surgery does. My oldest daughter suffered from "unknown" infections (possibly throat and/or sinus?), and was treated with antibiotics alot when she was younger. As a result, her teeth are de-calcified and without any enamel! Another issue we have found with her being prescribed antibiotics, is that her body, over the years, has become overrun with yeast and fungus, which, (if you do some in-depth research)causes ADHD symptoms! We are currently trying to regain her bodies natural state of harmony by getting rid of the yeast and fungus, but its a long hard road! After her adeniod/tonsilectomy she hasn't had any more "infections". Like you I wondered if there was a homeopathic or nutritional "cure" to this problem. I researched natural anti-inflammatories (fish oil and vitamin E,etc.)to reduce swelling and immune boosters (vitamin C, etc.)to prevent infection. I used them on my younger daughter and found only little improvement. I also tried to restrict problematic foods like gluten and milk. Gluten restriction showed little improvement in her overall health but milk restriction showed a tremendous improvement! I wanted learn why this was and if restricting milk was going to cause health issues like bone growth and tooth disease. What I found out alarmed me! First, children stop producing the enzyme required to break down HUMAN milk between ages 2-3, which could be why more children at this age develop ear infections. Next, I found out that ONLY bovine calves produce an enzyme to break down cows milk to get the calcium and vitamin D out of it and that no matter how hard our bodies try we CANNOT break down and use cows milk as a source of vitamin D or calcium. In fact, by drinking cows milk we actually deplete our bodies of this and are better off receiving it from green leafy vegetables. Also, saturated fats and hormones received by cows milk/dairy products actually cause inflammation and increased mucus production in our bodies, thus possibly contributing to enlarged adenoids and tonsils. (If you get a chance read "The China Study" and "Perfect Health: The Natural Way", very informative!) Finally, I found that some children, like mine, are just genetically predisposed to enlarged adenoids and tonsils. In these cases, you can try all you want, but the size of these glands will only increase as will the problems associated with them. As in my younger daughters case, removal was really the only way to correct her problems. I tried all of these things and researched everything I could possibly think of in order to help her, but I realized, this is just one of the many issues we are going to have to deal with because of her genetic/metabolic disorder. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you have tried other avenues like restricting dairy with no prevail and if the majority of research points toward the removal being a success, why make your child suffer through the pain of infections? If there's even a small possibility of a permanent solution, why not do it?

Have had mint, monarda, obedient plant with little to no problems. Campanula punctata reseeds but cute so I remove most of it in spring and leave few clumps. Macleya cordata reseeds, easy to pull. Bishop weed was planted because of my own stupidity- still trying to get rid of it but the bed full of bulbs and perennials so it is pretty hard to remove it completely. Chameleon plant died on me- I wanted it to grow. Petasites japonicus was speading last year with alarming speed- well, got killed this year during recent cold snap- barely found couple survivors and potted them up. Got some running bamboo last year- it is marginally hardy for me...

My take, 15 years ago. . . to the present. Some things have slightly changed for SMs, and some things have not, and some things have a long way to go. What is a potential SM supposed to look for nowadays? There really is no one set of answers. There are just too many extenuating factors to take into consideration, and still much of the advice out there for SMs is based on long-held presumptions and assumptions, and much of it is based on what largely non-SMs think should work vs. what actually may. Very few, even amongst professionals, take into consideration SM’s main role as dad’s wife or SO and instead seem to only want to focus on the “mom” part of SM. Because of this, for years and years SMs have been looked at almost solely as competitors to mom or competitors to SKs for dad’s attention, and SMs have traditionally been treated abrasively and judged harshly because of it. The reality is, most SMs just want to be dad’s wife or SO, and welcoming to the children. I’ve been a SM for over 15 years now, and I still can’t really help much with the “How do you make it work?,” question. What I can tell you is that as a SM, or even potential SM, you need to do what works for you, because there is so much bad or contradictory advise out there, it is unbelievable. What works in one step-situation might not work in another, because there may be a huge difference in the many factors that go into making a step-situation work. I often even refer to SP’ing as a crazy backwards world, because things that no woman or wife would be expected to take in a typical family situation, for some reason a SM is expected to take and with no questions asked. In the year 2018, everyone knows spouses and even SOs are to be seated together at events. This is just a given, isn’t it? Not with SMs, that’s for sure.! You can be married to your husband for years and years and it can still be a crap shoot whom someone will try to pair with your husband at a family event, no permission needed. You’ll both just attend an event, and, surprise!, everything will be arranged like your husband and his ex- are still a ‘joined at the hip twosome’ and you (SM) simply do not exist. This is just one example. Follow your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Look out for yourself. Most people will probably tell you something like, “Just be nice to the kids, and it will all work out,” or something similarly sappy. It sounds like common sense, and I would have thought the same before I became a SP, but that’s another thing. . . a lot of what sounds like common sense doesn’t work in step-world. There are studies that show that the nicer a SM is, the more the kids may start to despise her, because their loyalties are to mom, and they’ll just automatically look at SM as competition for mom. This is especially true if BM encourages them to think such, which certainly can occur. There is no way you can change anyone’s mind in this situation. You can’t control BM; nor should you be expected to. This is where you need a STRONG husband/ DH. He needs to put his foot down from day one that you are his SO and his children are to treat you as dad’s wife, and not as mom’s competition. Sounds simple enough, but so many divorced men with children fail on this one it is unbelievable. Too many of these men wind up treating their wife or SO like a child and their child more like a spouse. Even little things like letting his son or daughter sit in the front seat next to him ALL the time while you’re in the back, could send the message to the kids that they are dad’s significant other and not you. Children deserve to have all the love in the world, but they are not SOs and they are not wives. You combine a lot of these SM in the back type situations, along with guilty dad syndrome and BM’s PAS’ing, and next thing you know, you start to feel like the servant they are treating you as, and then when you go to one of your married friends to complain, she tells you that you need to understand more and give them space and not put your DH in the middle. In reality, not only are YOU the one being put in the middle, but you are also being put in the middle of someone else’s divorce/ fallout. There is no way you should be put in the middle of this and no way you can correct this. Only your DH can. Not trying to sound sour, but trying to get all to see that there is no way a SM should have to settle for being sloppy seconds just because her husband has children from a previous relationship. If as a SM, you feel like you are being the family servant or scapegoat or can never do anything right, or everyone is telling you you need to suck it up for the “family,” these are all signs that your DH is letting you take the fall, among other things. One might expect that of BM or even SKs, but very few women ever expect that once they get heavily involved with or marry, that their DH could so easily shrug his shoulders and let his wife or SO take the fall in reference to his family pretty much every time. In the end, the only advice I can really give any SM, is make sure you have a strong and true and tried DH before you ever marry him. You’ll need at least that. There is really no way to guarantee your success as a SM, as success largely depends on bio-mom and bio-dad, and less on SM or the SKs. And, remember: Manipulative, controlling BM and weak, enabling DH almost surely means Step Hell for life.

I am in a similar situation except maybe a bit more complicated, who knows! I understand. Either way, you have to be understanding to all sides of the story, including that she is their mother and may not like you being a part of the children's lives like you want. But, if you and your man are going to make it work, eventually they will have to get to know you. As far as him...I understand that the way he is trying to deal with everything in his head is the right way (which it's not, but to him it is...for now), and you can't make him change. He needs to realize himself...that although it will be hard (more than hard or a bump in the road), that if it's you he wants to be with, he needs to focus on getting himself together as an individual and take a chance in not living with the children and realize he can have both, maybe not exactly how he wants...but it's a compromise. Basically, he has some things to figure out (and so do you). Will you always want to have to deal with his ex and everything that comes with her? Nomatter how much it seems like everything is in place, he is not...none of you are. It does take a toll on the children and I understand he wants to see them everyday and be in the same house and help financially, but where do each of you want to be next year...or say in 5 years? How long can this go on? I hope that it works out and soon. Believe me, I am not judging, just giving you things to think about that I know I have. I am only 23 but I feel I've been through quite a bit for my age. My man and I have been together off and on for 5 years, he is 33. Within those 5 years we have had other partners, he has gotten a divorce, had 3 children, I moved away and came back, and now he lives with his ex-wife...all the while she's known about me and wants me to have nothing to do with the children. Things have come a long way. We plan to get married and have children of our own and even move in soon, but with all the rollercoaster action in our past, we want to make sure everything is right before going to the next step. He is figuring out his life and so am I so we can become a union and bring God in our relationship.

My son was circumsized at birth-and since he is my only child, I never really knew what a circumsized boy was supposed to look like...call me stupid!?! Anyways, my best friends are both Drs. and when my son was about 11mths old (he is now almost 3yrs) they saw me changing his diaper and asked if he had been circumsized...because it didn't look like it all to them. You could bearly see the tip of his penis due to the extra skin that was left around the head. I took him the head Pediatric Urologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital and he said right away that the circumsision was not done correctly and not enough skin was taken off...at 15mths he was recircumsized as an outpatient and he is doing fine. Like the other person who posted a response to your question, my son is VERY sensitive and hardly let's you touch it to clean it...he says it hurts and pulls away very fast...I was also told that I should pull back the foreskin at every diaper changing-but he screamed bloody murder when I did that I wasn't going to continue to do that to him...that's when I went over my Pediatrician's head and went to the Urologist...that would be my recommendation...better to be safe then sorry. Hope this helps.

ANOTHER THING...I don't know about how your Drs. work, but my OB/GYN did the original circumsision when he was born and it wasn't covered under my medical insurance...to the tune of $250...I asked/demanded a refund of that $250 and got it back from my Dr. He didn't do it correctly so why should I have to pay him that $$$$$ !?!?!

My son is not circumcised and neither is my DH and I can tell you the skin (on the baby) is definitely supposed to stick. It is naturally fused and doesn't separate until late childhood or early puberty. So naturally any "extra" skin (don't tell me DH its extra! :) sticks like its meant to. It will release later via hormones. I would agree that its better to err on the side of too much. Its certainly not going to harm him. 80% of the worlds men have all their foreskin and are no worse for wear.

I'm 19 and my foreskin is still attached to the head on the top. This was due to my foreskin healing over and fusing with my head. There is only a small piece of skin connecting my foreskin and head, it almost looks like it was stitched there.
Any adults have this problem? Does any one know about these surgeries later in life?
I really don't know where to begin. Even links would be helpful. Does insurance cover this type of surgery?

I am trying to find out how long the sensitivity last when a circumsition has to be re-done. I don't feel that my sons was done correctly. He still has ALOT of foreskin left and it certainly does not look like my first son's did when his was done. Any feed back would be great. The doctor keeps saying its fine.

My son had the same problem but the Dr told me to keep it pulled back and keep vaseline on it and everytime i changed his diaper to repeat the process...and thats been about 6 months ago and nows hes fine...thank the good lord

All these circumcision problems. It is all so crazy to me. Why would you cut up and mess with a perfectly healthy penis, mess it up, worry about it, cause your son unnecessary pain, all to have him cut up more later to "fix" what didn't need fixing in the first place. If I were any of you I'd feel so guilty and spend my entire life apologizing to my son for cutting up his genitals for no reason. Ignorance is such a huge problem, like the 19 year old who doesn't even know that his problem he deals with into adulthood was caused by unnecessarily cutting off part of his penis by his parents.

People blindly follow what this culture tells them they should do, and I am one of them. When I had my first son at 19, I had him circumsized, because that's just what you DO.

Until I was 23 and pregnant with my 2nd son and researched it-found that it is a form of mutilation and NOT required and no, it DOESN'T cause more infections. My 2nd and 3rd sons are intact and will stay that way.

My newborn son is now 6 weeks old. We noticed that his foreskin is still attached to the head on the underside of his Penis. Everything else looks perfectly normal and he's healing is almost done, and the piece that is still attached is small and the rest of the foreskin looks normal just a small spot where its still attached. My doc said it would break free when he hits puberty via hormones. My wife and I are not so sure we think they don't want to let us know they have made a mistake. We want to have the remaining attached skin cut back but doctors say no need it will detach by itself. Please give us your thoughts we don't want him to have this when he hits puberty or worse when he's an adult and we think now is the time to correct it because he just healed and he's still young enough for it not to drive him crazy from the pain. Please help us. Thank you.
