Getting together....

... with CF friends is such a blast! This was not really a planned Get Together, more of a "Hey, I have a free afternoon, can you get away for an hour?" sort of Get Together.

FOAS has family not too far from where I live and since he was down visiting them for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend we decided on an impromptu meeting. He is absolutely terrific in person! Like any other meet-up, we talked and talked like old friends, and I think we may have solved the all problems of the world in the process.

Since it was so spur of the moment, there wasn;t any eating to be done, but we did manage a cocktail or two!

We then headed for our respective homes with promises to do this again soon. Of course, in the spirit of the CF, we did manage to exchange a few goodies, I brought little samplers of the weekend sweets: Jewel Cookies, Chocolate Truffles, Bourbon Percans, Frangelico Balls, Cherry Brandy Balls and a jar of Habanero Gold. FOAS brought be a lovely bottle of olive oil from a boutique store - this particular California Olive Oil is one of the real super treasures and I can;t wait to try it! Thanks FOAS!

I've already met ALex (and hope to again some day) and FOAS is on my bucket list!!!

Well, we had a wonderful visit. Nita is just as everyone describes--and she really does give great hugs. Carol is cute as can be and so comfortable to be around. I really enjoyed their visit and so did Harry. For lunch we had ham salad, tarragon chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches, a pasta salad, tomato-feta salad and for dessert raspberry trifle. I can't believe we talked for over four hours--the time just flew by. The weather was cold and rainy but it was sunny and warm in my house today!

Our bathroom renovations in Cathedral City are scheduled to begin August 22, and I don't know how long that will take, but I am hoping that they will be finished soon after Labor Day as well. I have to be back in L.A. September 7 and would only go back to Cathedral City in the middle of the week Sept 17-19, if all goes as planned.

During this pandemic, people are going nuts with various restrictions not being able to go out, meet with friends and family, etc. I don't see why you can't do something about it. We have been having parties, some big and some small. July 4th (5 coworkers, and with our own small private fireworks), Memorial Day(10 family and relatives), Labor Day (10 friends) ----. How? 1. An indoor portable HEPA air circulator ($80) 2. Home made HEPA air filter to go in front of air conditioner ( $5.00 card board, $30.00 HEPA filters, some duct tape, 1/2 hour of work). 3. All guests are required to be tested negative the day of party. No test kits? No problem. Come and we will test you. Problem? Yes. $$$$$$$ for food and drinks and paper plates :-). dcarch

My first CF meet-up and it sure was fun! As Alexa said, we talked and talked. Driving home I realized we had barely even gotten to gossip about everyone and I didn't start any of the conversations I had up my sleeve in the event we'd have nothing to say to each other, LOL!

I've tried so far from the "sampler" has been wonderful. Thanks Alexa! My gift was uninspired but in my defense we've had a bunch of play-it-by-ear meetings planned which never came to fruition. That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Looking forward to more get-togethers. Next time remind me to check my hair before taking pictures. What's going on up there? LOL!

Yeah, I'm jeally, too! Don't tell David I said this, but you two are a nice looking couple. Just don't ask me a couple of what!

And once again, CFers never look like what I think they're going to look like.

Jessica - Funny YOU should ask about the olive oil. Alexa slightly misrepresented; it's not from a boutique store but rather from a small but growing chain of markets that, among other things, boasts a dozen or so different olive oils under their label. Why is it funny that "you" asked? Check out the link and note the user name of the person who first recommended Fairway's California oil to me.

Funny how we never seem to have a lag in conversation, isn't it, even when meeting other people in person for the first time.

Alexa was the first member I met years ago. I was a nervous wreck...LOL! It is so cool to meet up with forum friends. It's so true that we just start talking and never stop....just like old friends... hey, we are aren't we. : )

I enjoy meeting the people behind the posts so I'm eager to get together with one or both of you.

Your hair looks fine so you have to wonder what it's suppose to look like. Now the person behind you...not so much.
