Believe it or not, I'm not wishing for anything for the kitchen this year.

I'm asking Santa for a new E-File (nails), a new digital camera, a new blow dryer, one of those key things for the computer to use instead of a CD to store things on, iTunes cards, gosh my list goes on and on. I don't expect all this, it's just a list for Santa to pick and choose from.

Well I wouldn't mind some new kitchen towels....

I want a replacement for my dead FoodSaver. I want the one that flips up to stand on end.

I suggested to the girls that they could go "halves" and buy me the little Cuisinart ice cream maker so I could make my own sorbet. Of course I don't need it and I don't have anywhere to store it, but still....

At such time as Elery and I merge households, I'll have more kitchen stuff than anyone will ever use. Of course, he says we're going to have two kitchens, one upstairs for "show" and one downstairs for canning and the heavy duty "industrial" cooking for family holidays. (grin) I'll need more stuff, I guess.....

Knives, just a good utility and chef..Although that Cuisinart set would look smashing on my counter!

I have a colapsable strainer, but it's kind of an awkward one. It's round with a long handle. I think that over the sink one is much more user friendly.

Shaun, a memory stick? Everyone in my household has one but the 7 year old..The boys use them to take back and forth to school..Hubby uses his to copy CD's onto, so that he can take the music files to work and load them on his work computer.

Ummm, oh yeah my list.. couple of good knives, new stainless steel pans. Large family size skillet for sure.
Drain lines routed into my corian counter top, so that I don't need an ugly dish drainer, or a dish towel! (If I'd only known about that option when they were being made and installed!!!!!!

I am starting to like the 2 kitchen idea. I have a friend who put 2 kitchens in her house when they built it. The first one is used for entertainig etc. and the 2nd is called the butlers kitchen and that where all the food prep is done and you just shut the doors when company comes so they don't see the mess. At first I thought it was a little overboard but now the concept is growing on me.

I don't know if it's a memory stick or a flash drive!

I just looked up memory stick and found this picture and I think this is what I want.

Whatever it's called, it takes the place of having to have all those CD's.

So, what do I want? A memory stick or a flash drive? Or are those one in the same?

It's a flash drive or jump drive, Shaun. You'll find it under either name. But I wouldn't use it to replace CDs. They aren't as stable. I'd really only use it to transfer things from different computers, not as storage. They are good for me because I transfer huge files from my Mac where I edit photos to my PC where I print them and also when I have files from home that I'm bringing to work. But I wouldn't use them as storage.

I already got my Christmas present --- a Whirlpool Freezerator. I've been using the 2 freezers as I make things ahead to take to DD2's for Thanksgiving, but will use the top as a refrigerator over Christmas when I'll have loads of fresh veggies, milk, eggs, pop etc. for the Clan. No more need for the monster ice chest and blocks of ice to keep it all cold.

Annie, you'd enjoy the ice cream maker. I stupidly sold mine when I moved, but got another for Christmas last year!

Minsue, when you say cookie sheet and jelly roll baking stones, do you put these pans on top of them and the stone somehow enhances your results, or do you bake directly on them (I know folks use stones, but I haven't so am somewhat uninformed), though I will say I can wrap my mind around that concept far more easily than I ever could silicone bakeware.

I don't to my knowledge have anyone buying big ticket items for me this year, but wish list wise I'd probably go with a red KA, and/or perhaps the pasta roller attachment I always say I'm going to get and still haven't. Oh and one of those double kitchen timers where one side is the old fashioned kind and the other is digital for longer times.

I'm in pretty good shape with most everything else, not that that stops me from pausing in any housewares store or department or gadget wall I might see "just in case." :-)

Oh gosh I thought they were for storage! Okay I'll amend my wish list.

I'd like to have a new mixer for Christmas. The one I have is a ratty hand mixer, but I'd love to have the standing kind. I don't really want it out on the cabinet though so maybe I don't want one. :)

Scott & Mammmie, I do all my baking in stones. I started collecting from Pampered Chef parties years ago and I won't bake on anything else now. Once you get them good and seasoned they are awesome you don't burn anything unless you just plain forget that you put something in the oven. I have my broken jelly roll pan, 2 different size pizza stones, a loaf pan, pie plate, round deep dish baker, and muffin pan. You can find them at alot of the kitchen/home stores now a lot cheaper than the PC ones.

TIME. That's what I want that I never get enough of.

I want time to cook more. And time to visit this forum more.
I want time to read.
I want time to develop a professional website.

I don't need any big things for the kitchen. But I do have a list of numerous tiny things - including the best brand of various foods that I want to stock. So I'd like time to shop for them. It will take half a dozen stores - and time on the web to locate all those items.

And time to find another babysitter so my husband and I can go out more.

Hey, I'm glad you did ask about the jump drive because I have one I am using for storage and now I know to put those files elsewhere. I'm skrued if anything happens to those files. Darn, and here I thought I'd found something small and stable. Stupid technology.

I just want to have DH home for a few days. That would be more than enough.

An electric spice grinder (I tried using a hand-operated coffee mill, but it grinds too coarsely). I'm asking my mother for it.

An ice cream maker. Can't find one that's small enough, so it will probably go on next year's list.

The Silver Spoon cookbook (I may buy that for myself).

A copy of Larousse Gastronomique. One can always hope.

A mandoline. Not that I want to lose another fingertip, but it's just such a nifty gadget.

A new mixer would be nice. My old one sounds like a particularly nasty earthquake. A KitchenAid in red would be nice (Santa, I hope you're reading this...)

Shaun, flash drive, key, jump drive, memory stick: all different names for the same thing. I store on mine. I'd put it back on your list. They are handy in many many ways.
My Christmas list: well, I would love a second KA stainless bowl for when I get on my baking sprees. I also want a salad spinner, a tiny little pastry roller, a guaranteed awesome rolling pin, and a multicutter to cut a lattice crust for my pies. Then a GPS. But I may as well forget this list, cause I am getting new carpet for the upsatirs for Christmas this year.

Shaun, I think you want an external hard drive. I got one for Christmas last year. Every few months I back up all my pictures and documents to that drive. I leave the pictures on the main computer so I have two copies.

I was walking through Costco and told my sweetie that I wanted the Food Saver for Christmas so he threw it in the cart. Now he is making fun of me because I won't open it until Christmas. LOL

I had an external hard drive and loved it. I had it set for auto back up every 3 days. It worked flawlessly for almost 5 years. I now have an extra hard drive so no need for the Iomega.

For Christmas this year, actually I'd like this present before Christmas, I'd like all the finish work completed in our home. I thought we'd be having a nice Christmas without sawdust but maybe we will celebrate for Valentines Day.

In lieu of the woodwork....

A Popover Pan.

A extra vacuum.

Several cutting boards, 10by12" or smaller.

A mandoline.

A folding step ladder with at least 2 steps. I need one that folds up as small as possible for easy storage but tall enough so I can reach the top shelves.

A new potato ricer, mine is on it's last legs.

Shaun, tell Santa to look at Radio Shack, Best Buy or Circuit City Friday for the flash drive, they usually have them really cheap the day after Thanksgiving. I picked up a 1 gig one for my son last year for $10. This year he wants a memory stick pro-duo. They could also look that day for an external hard drive for backing up your machine. We have one called the Book.

I don't know what I want, I think I have more than I need in the kitchen! I would like my son to get into a good college, and a full tuition scholarship would be a nice touch. Think that would fit in Santa's bag?

External hard drive...that's what I need for my backup!

Popover pan is a good one, I need one of those. I have the recipe for popovers that are served with meals at our old local dept. store in Minneapolis (now a Macy's like everything else) but they still have good food.

I got a nice heavy step stool at Home Depot that folds flat. I keep it in the space between the refrigerator and the wall.

Let's see...hmmmm. I'm running out of room, but I always manage to find a gadget or two.

Dear Santa,

I'd like an angled potato ricer and another 8-10 quart stockpot. I'd also like a copy of "Small Batch Preserving".
