Today, I was a victim....

of a RAOK of the best kind. After the Rice Krispies thread, Sooz emailed me and asked if I would like to have a box of regular Rice Krispies to make treats for the kids. I had said in the thread that I would be making some out of chocolate rice krispies because that is all that is available here in Germany.

The package came today. Not only were there Rice Krispies in it, but a whole bunch of other stuff. She went shopping at Trader Joes and sent us some wonderful snacks. Included in the box were:

Triple Ginger cookies (They are mine. All mine, I tell you. Such wonderful ginger flavor in this little thin cookies. They are wonderful)

Gummy penguins (already claimed by the kids and proclaimed delicious)

Chocolate covered pomegranate seeds

Pistachio toffee

Thai chili cashews

(all of the above have been put away for safekeeping :) )

Also included were two Christmas hand towels, two bookmarks (one already stolen by my daughter), and dalmation shoelace buddies.

And last, but not least, because I said I wanted to include Nutell in the Rice Krispie Treats, I also got a jar of Nutella.

Sooz, thank you so much for the wonderful box. It certainly brightened this dark and dreary day for us.

When someone will help me learn to post a pic, I will upload a pic of the package.

How nice of Sooz to send you all those goodies. I didn't realize that rice krispie were hard to come by over there. I don't make them often but when I have a yen for rice krispie squares ( like it did earlier this week) , I am glad I can run out and buy a box of RK and marshmallows and satisfy the craving.

I'll be happy to post a picture for you Lisa. Any time. Or even help you learn.

Yesterdays Houston Chronicle had an article just like this, the lady got supplies and a wheelchair she didn't want, need or order. And medicare got the bill. Until she called the Senior Medicare Patrol. It doesn't say how to get ahold of them though. They are 4700 volunteer senior citizens that have saved taxpayers more than $100 million since 1997. "They can tell when something just doesn't feel right to them" said Anne Gray, who works with the SMP program in Santa Ana, Ca. Article goes on to say that scam artist have stolen about $47 BILLION dollars!! in 2009 alone! No wonder we're broke. Chris, it is NOT YOUR FAULT. This is something they do deliberately. The scammers know that the average handicapped/elderly person is not going to be able to read that fine print, the delivery guy acts like he doesn't speak english, acts impatient, they brush off your questions..., they know the nice people are going to believe them and feel bad for making them wait and won't read it, even if they COULD. People like me, they don't mess with. It makes me so mad!! Give me their number and I'll take care of them!!! GRRRRR! Believe me, stick to your guns. They'll back down and go down the road to pull their scams. What did they say in Galaxy Quest? Never back down!!! Tally HO! My mom says I was a pitbull in another life.

Remove the debris and the irises will come back. The buds are still in the rhizomes so they shouldn't be damaged. The foliage may be scrappy and the stalks not up to par, but I think you'll still have blooms if you'll remove the debris. Let us know. Walter Moores

I'm not really encouraged my next week's weather predictions. It looks okay for the central & southern Rockies but too cool and rainy up here: Those are predicted rainfall amounts during the early part of the week. We have snow melt flooding of the rivers right now but, that isn't my gardening concern. The amount of cloud cover and cool temperatures may make hardening-off of plants from the greenhouse difficult. High temperatures on thru the week show that we will just break 60F for highs. The biggest problem for me is that the greenhouse is overflowing!! Overflow means - overflow. I need to get things outdoors or they are left in the shade under benches or in the garage. Having the older tomatoes in the unheated tunnel last night has me on pins & needles this morning. It was colder than predicted & windier than predicted: with 35F & gusts above 25mph . . . We got our ele. last night as I posted and have had it all day....our town and Eufaula is under a state of emergency kids will probably be out all week.....the roads are just solid....a few little spots showed thru on the highway (266) in front of our house and that is it...we went sledding on a hill at the end of our road today and you can see I-40 and the trucks were barely making it up the hill were we live....one almost didn't make it crazy.....Brian drove Sydney into work again tonight...and we will pick her up....all around us people who have REC ele or EC are out....OG&E that we have are good to go...think all our new lines and power poles are holding tight from 2 years ago when we had the really bad ice storm.. What a lovely box! It never would have occurred to me that RK were hard to find over there either.... or Nutella for that matter! Enjoy all the goodies.

What a lovely surprise. Loads of special treats. Jessica brought me some of the tripe ginger cookies, along with other TJs treats. I think they are wonderful too.

Lisa, I've sent you an email.

Up until today I haven't use Photobucket so I created an account to test.

The choices were for a thumbnail or full size. I choose fullsize. Next time I would reduce the size of the photo before saving it to Photobucket.

If you have any problems with the instructions I sent you, let me know.

I use photobucket and there is a place where you can set the image size so that your photos show up in a nice size for most users. Easier on the eyes. I have a 24" moniter and even the one that Ann just posted is too large for me.

Here's where to find the adjustment..
On the upload screen there is a bar that you click on to upload...but before you do that....click on the (more options) directly below.
A small screen will open that has more upload options. Put the green dot on either medium or large. The large (640X480) size is nice for food photos. Click on save and all newly uploaded photos from now on will be that size when you share them or view them.

Here is the size of the large.

Nancy, it was too big for my screen too. I only signed on to Photobucket so I could email Lisa with instructions.

I prefer Smugmug because it allows you to save photos at full size but also gives you multiple size options for posting.
