The 'real' victims may not have power. Oklahoma south and east of Tulsa has some major power outages and so does the northern strip of Arkansas. I just talked to my dad. He has power, but my brother doesn't. He said there is ice on the trees, but not on the road.

I live in the Tulsa area. It's 31 degrees. The sun is shining and the ice is melting. There is steam rising from the ground. My neighbood is still covered in this ice/sleet/snow mess, but the crews have been working on the main roads. I'm tempted to get dressed and get outside here in a little bit.

We're in good shape here in NW Oklahoma compared to some. I talked to a friend in the SE Missouri awhile ago, and it is a HORRIBLE mess there.

Our roads were a mess earlier today, but this "stuff" is melting off the house and the ground, so that's a good sign.
It was a frigid 2 degrees here this morning, and it is now a balmy 23.
Supposed to be 60 this weekend.

I've been worried about all of you in the storm's path! Looks bad in many places.

We have the ice/snow here in Ohio now. So far so good for me, as long as the power stays on, I'll be okay. My prayers go out to the ones without power, the ones who -have- to go out in this, and to the homeless. This is nothing to mess around with.

No victim feeling this time. Yeah, we never lost power. However, Jerry has been sick since late yesterday morning... and is quite boring. LOL

At least, he didn't have to call in sick today, as they were told to stay home today too.

I did some ice removal on our driveway, which has a slope, and might otherwise not melt good. Don't know yet, this is our first ice/sleet/snow experience at this location.

My daughter also reported all is well, never lost electric. Yeah.

I think, the tow truck operations are really busy, with all the slipping and sliding that is going on the roads. Good thing, I don't have to get out till Monday. :)

what a mess. no school. of course, I had everything well-prepared for a change. my good friend has no power - which means no water or heat either. we have water leaking through the basement walls, but that's our only problem.

Many of my family members are in Baxter County in northern Arkansas.

I can't reach my nephew and his family, niece and her family, aunt, cousin, or two brothers and their families, on the phones. Of course, they don't have computer service either, although only two of them have computers.

One of my dear friends managed to call me on her land line. She can't call out to her own family there in Baxter County, but got call through to me. Her cell phone won't work. Her nephew borrowed a four-wheeler to drive up to Salesville to check on her. Bless his heart; he is a good nephew.

She's not had power since last night. She has two gas burners on her stove running and says the house is 62 degrees. I told her my furnace was blazing away and my house is 66 degrees. She has plenty of blankets and a Coleman lantern for evening use. She can cook and make tea and was "comfortable enough" with a good book to read.

I'm so worried about the rest of the family. I wanted to jump in the car and drive to Arkansas. Still, I'd get stuck in the ice storm in Missouri, and there I'd be, no help to anyone and yet another worry.

This is a really bad time for people in the storm's path. I hope my folks, and all the others too!, will take preparedness serious and stock up on the needed items for next time. "Expect the best, but plan for the worse," is my motto.

Got power, went on and off a couple of times. The yard is a mess. A couple of trees down, a lot of limbs and a couple of widowmaker huge branches on the oaks, hanging by the bark. The other power co. which starts a couple of streets over, lost power to 80% of it's customers, including all the water pumping stations in the county. They are supposedly getting help this evening or night from Tennessee. Luckily we got about an inch of snow on top of the ice. Now I got to scrape that together and melt it for the toiletts.

Anneliese, where are you? Arkansas? Oklahoma? I haven't seen Flamey post yet either. I know she said they had a generator, and Woody was firing it up and testing it then. She was going to get some water ready too.

I talked to my sister, living near Joplin, MO, last night, and she said everything was sheer ice and snow predicted...schools were closed, etc.

I am south of Louisville, KY. No more snow, sleet or rain, but the temps went down. I will need a sledgehammer to open the mailbox for the mailman, in case the truck makes it up the hill. Getting down is no problem, just point and slide.

I would guess Flamingo is without power. They got a lot of ice according to the wunderground weather site.

Where I am got about 4 inches of snow, but St. Louis and places south of that got hit much harder with more snow and the ice. I'll bet Charlee got a bunch of ice too!

The mail came but no local paper which is put out today. The office must be closed because of the roads. A guy came by right after I came in from hitting the ice off my crabapple out back, wanting $50 to cut down the rest of my pear tree and leave it for the city to pick up. I told him no thanks. He must be driving around town asking everyone to make a little money.

They just plowed the road through my subdivision about an hour ago. Thankfully, we still have power. Some people in town don't. I filled up some containers full of water in case the power goes out and the water lines are shut off. They shut them off in Richmond KY today, something about them wanting what little water was available for fire crews.

I just called Flamey, and got her answering machine. Thus, I am guessing she has electric?

Left her a message, that peeps here are wondering about her.

Kath, you said A guy came by right after I came in from hitting the ice off my crabapple out back. You shouldn't do that, it can damage the tree. Just let the ice melt off naturally.. even very bent looking trees will usually be okay once the ice melts.

I know but it looked bad and I was trying to lighten some of the branches because they overhang onto some power/phone lines that go to my house. I need to have the limbs cut away when the weather clears up. All it would take is for one limb to break and no more heat or phone.

I'm in SE Oklahoma, we are up and running as of this afternoon. It was a beautiful site this afternoon with all the ice everywhere. Only 1/2" of snow, full sunshine today so alot has melted. We got hit alot harder last year!

We got our ele. last night as I posted and have had it all day....our town and Eufaula is under a state of emergency kids will probably be out all week.....the roads are just solid....a few little spots showed thru on the highway (266) in front of our house and that is it...we went sledding on a hill at the end of our road today and you can see I-40 and the trucks were barely making it up the hill were we live....one almost didn't make it crazy.....Brian drove Sydney into work again tonight...and we will pick her up....all around us people who have REC ele or EC are out....OG&E that we have are good to go...think all our new lines and power poles are holding tight from 2 years ago when we had the really bad ice storm.. Figuring Mingo is out of ele..........Stacy

About 12 miles we are 6 miles east of town and I am figuring Lotawatto road is 6 miles west of town....Do you know where Shady Grove is? (Shady Grove rd) Stacy

naw, I don't. I have ridden my bike down from Tulsa, via Morris to lotawatto road to I-40 and then over to the road that goes to the Eufaula state park. I guess, sometime I have to head further east. :)
