It's interesting, but not evidence of anything. It's a magazine readers' poll. People sent in returns to declare their intentions. Reminds me of The Literary Digest and their fatal mistakes in 1936. "Although it had polled 10 million individuals (about 2.4 million of these individuals responded, an astronomical sum for any survey),[3] it had surveyed firstly its own readers, a group with disposable incomes well above the national average of the time...." (wikipedia) . Their list of names was biased in favor of those with enough money for cars, phones and magazine subscriptions (during the 1930's!!). To show what a more scientific basis can produce: using a sample size of only 50,000 George Gallup accurately predicted the results of the 1936 Literary Digest poll. Goes to show that a more valid result is possible if the questions and methods are good to start with. A survey is more accurate than an assemblage of thousands who are self-interested and proud. And who put a stamp on it. Even a survey does not predict success in the real world: declared intentions never correspond to real reactions to new products.

I currently have a Kindle touch. When it dies, I will absolutely get the Paperwhite. Sometimes when I read in bed, my lamp bothers DH so I have to use a clip on light and I sometimes have trouble with positioning it. The Paperwhite would let me read in bed without bothering DH. The battery lasts a very long time and I love the dictionary feature for looking up words instantly. With a book, I would have to get up, find the dictionary and look up the word (which I would not do) or I would write down the word and look it up later forgetting the context I hand seen it used. I love my Kindle and now I need to look at Calibre.

maddiemo, I'm not sure I understand your comment. And whether you understood what I said or not. I'll try rephrasing my earlier comment. You said "Libby is an app that some libraries use to lend ebooks" and I disagreed. My comment clarified that Libby is Overdrive software for Overdrive content only. Most libraries have content from many different sources in addition to Overdrive, such as Hoopla, RBDigital, etc. Each provider has its own proprietary software, To the best of my knowledge, Libby only works with Overdrive content. That was all I said, to restrict my comment to what you said and not go on too far. Now I'll go on too a bit further to clarify. Libby is Overdrive's newest software and the website steers you to using that. It's the first thing mentioned on the Overdrive site. There's also its old software "product", called Overdrive for Windows, Overdrive for Mac, Overdrive for Android, etc, that is still available but isn't what they push. It happens I use the old version (Called Overdrive for Desktop) but that's because I have for 10 years or more and when I tried Libby, I didn't like it. Okay?
