I'll try, that's a tall order. Two islands, one that
is curved for seating, the other working, marble, dark
granite, dark wood floors...
Well at least some of these have two islands. I will
keep searching.

You really are! Thanks soooo much. What do you think would look good here...maybe all the cabs should be white...soapstone on perimeters and working island, marble on the other? Both islands different from perimeter? I'm so confused. Would love some inpug....

Of course you are confused. I think this is part of the
reno journey to second guess, worry, sleepless nights,
anxiety, questions, .... keep the focus on what you like
and everything will fall into place.

Maybe what you need to do it is look at white kitchens with
dark floors and see what they have done with their
perimeter and islands. Get a feel for what you love. I am
of the school that says get what YOU love not what you
think others might love. If you love three different
counter types go for it, or just one that's your plan.

Here are some white kitchens with island. NOt two island
but with dark floors and some marble so you can see the
colors, textures and style they designed. Whatever you
do is going to be fantastic. Just make sure it is what
YOU love. Truly make your dream into reality.

Boxerpups, I told my DH this morning, that I'm going to search your name so I can look at all the BEAUTIFUL kitchens you have gathered. You really do have a porfolio of eye candy!

Again, thanks a bunch, boxerpups! I'm just having trouble "seeing" the finished product. I had originally planned white perimeter cabs with soapstone, then stained or painted islands with marble. Then I started thinking maybe I didn't want marble on my working island and should make that soapstone. Then I thought I should make that island white for contrast. But my dilemma is..will it look balanced and great to have two completely different island finishe/ And if I make them both the same as the perimeter, will that be too much of the same look? Would love some ideas from people here!

Personally, I'm a fan of the painted island with the marble countertop...but that's the look I'm going for, in my kitchen.

A lot of people like wood countertops, for the perimeter. I think soapstone would look nice, too. Do you like the contrast of the black and white...or would you prefer something softer with the wood? If you're worried about how marble will hold up on the island, there are solid surface materials that look like marble...as well as granite and quartzite that resemble marble. There are lots of posts on this, in the forum.

If you like contrast, I've seen some beautiful kitchens with white perimeter cabinets with soapstone...and then black painted islands with marble. Same thing with white perimeter cabinets, with wood countertops...and wood island with marble top. Do you want something a little softer? Maybe a blue, green or yellow painted island? That might help you determine what to use for your perimeter countertops, too.

Whatever you decide, just make sure it's what you love...because next year will bring a whole new 'look' and you want your choice to be one you'll be happy with for many years :)

I've decided on white perimeter cabs with the soapstone, which I haven't found yet, so that could change. I'm just stuck on the islands....the same? each different? the same as the perimeter? different from the perimeter? I just can't decide what would look the best..

Would love anyone's ideas on how to go about this.....what would YOU do? I know there are minds more creataive than mine out there....!
