Elimination diet recipe challenge
Comments (17)I shouldn't be such a whiner when I think of all you have to do Tricia! You're definately in my thoughts and prayers, I know this has been a rough time, I wish you didn't have to go thru this! I can't have chili powder, even mild, right now. Later, as I add things, probably if it doesn't cause a problem. I can eat red bell peppers, (you know, the most expensive ones!), so I may try my hand at roasting some, since the canned ones I usually buy have preservatives which are off limits now. Tonight for dinner I had some soup that was a POOF that was a riff on risi e bisi and Italian wedding--ham, peas, spinach, carrots and celery and caramelized onions (yes, I know but I made it before all this started) with Israeli style cous cous pilaf thrown in for the starch. Mostly OK ingredients. I was still hungry so I had an almond butter and honey sandwich on whitebread toast. I have to get rid of this great sourdough sprouted wheat bread BF brought me, because no sourdough either! I'm finding out all kinds of interesting things. Like a mail order source for tamari without gluten, it's made from rice and adzuki beans. I think I am going to order some of that since I actually might eat it on its own merits. I also discovered that I can use "amchoor" to add tartness, which is a bitter mango powder and I actually had some leftover from when I was on an Indian food kick. BF is kidding me incessantly, "Now you have to eat like me." It's actually the Standard American Diet--meat, mild dairy, starches, plain vegetables, fat, and sugar! The only thing missing is caffinated beverages and soda pop! Yes Beverly, it could be worse because I too think salt would be very hard for me to do without. I have decreased my salt over the years, but I find it difficult to go real low with it. Of course maybe that's coming down the road, lol!...See MoreRatings for Painted Finishes? Comments (22)It turned out well and it is a viable option for me. I asked for all the bells and whistles including soft close hinges for all the cabinet doors, a wood range hood, two super susans, soft close drawers, full-extension glides, two corner cabinet mullions with seedy glass, a wood enlay above the refrigerator, two corbels, five inch crown molding with a rope insert done in the black finish and black heirloom finish on the peninsula side. I also choose all plywood construction. All of that for 16,498 without the tax. They have a deal where if you go with them for the installation they credit the tax towards the installation cost. They also throw in the sink base and have 10% off the cabinets as a whole. I have decided to see if CP can come up with something in that price range. So, yes, I'm finally making some progress. The only thing is I had to go with their Pacific door to get the finishes I wanted (Morel Vintage). I think this also locks you into having the raised panel door fronts, too, which vary according to the size of the drawer. I'm not 100% thrilled about that. I think their Saffron finish is pretty special, though. It coordinates nicely with the cayenne and paint finishes I think. If I weren't working with my busy oriental rugs, I would seriously consider those finished together. Absolutely gorgeous!...See MorePaint: can anyone tell me about LA Cowslip vs RH Butter?
Comments (13)Hee! I always read "cow slip" (not that the image is any better). Looks like I can't post links directly in this forum (as in kitchens). Here is another vintage yellow kitchen from rejuvenation: http://www.rejuvenation.com/catalog/settings/settingdisplay.html?setting_id=112&category=kitchen And again, the image of cow's lip from Lowe's that I just love: http://valsparatlowes.com/project-ideas/design-gallery/la_co_foy1.html And here are 2 photos of Butter on opposite walls of my breakfast room (the darker sample card is of RH Saffron for the trim). Same color, same room, opposite walls. What a difference! Now, I DO like both of these incarnations of Butter. And they look to me like the Rejuvenation and Lowe's photos linked above. But darn that butter! It also gets lemony in my kitchen--both in bright sunlight, and if I use cf bulbs. (I don't have a photo of the butter-turned-lemon for you.) I need a never-lemony butter. Maybe I just need to board up all the windows in my home, and control the yellow with artificial, unchanging lighting? ;-)...See Moredifferent types of butter?
Comments (38)Wow..if we weren't on the fast train from Paris to Roscoff would be SO fun to meet you ! This past Summer we rode from Vienna Austria to Nantes, France primarily on the Velo 6. It was a great adventure. I have done long tours in the US but never in Europe and it was my DH's first tour . He is hooked now :) When we finished the trip in Nantes, on Bastille Day, we then took the train to Amsterdam and rode around Holland for 2 1/2 weeks. We visited 6 areas using the train and then cycled for 3-4 days in each area. We had lived there for a year in 1988 so it was great to visit again. We had perfect sunny weather every day but one. Will let you know when we leave the US...will likely be September as we are thinking later is better. What do you think about the coast as far as many things being closed in Aug. ? I know that the French go on vacation then ....we want to visit several of the islands on our way down the coast. Would appreciate any tips for time of year that is best. It was still quite cool mid July in Nantes. Thank you islay. c...See Moregraywings123
