Whew.......IE 9 download

Anyone downloaded IE9 yet? I was just about to when I saw this warning hidden in all the techie mumbo jumbo "Windows XP users can't run IE 9" so now, I'm even more frustrated with my machine! Being treated like "a redheaded stepchild" sucks! Thanks Windows for reminding me what I want or need doesn't matter!

I learned years ago somethings don't work when you upgrade, so I don't upgrade anymore. I don't even up date and haven't in a long time.

I love the saying, "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

run ATF the directions are on the same page ATF-Cleaner it can be run on any version of windows, it does not mention 7 but it has been run on many 7 systems both 32 and 64 bit. the other thing I would try is to disable all add ons on your IE9 and try that way. How to manage add-ons in Internet Explorer 9 If that does not work then trying the latest version of firefox or chrome might work I have had no problems going anywhere on that site with any browser.

This is as far back as Filehippo goes v9.4.12.3. Everything else I see is identified as commercial trial or NeroLite. The page also provides access to the application 's evolution through Lite to the current version of BurnLite. DA Here is a link that might be useful: Filehippo

Well you never made comment on klaa2's suggestion of installing Firefox as you browser to replace Internet Explorer. Why not try that? I have provided a link to version 2 (stay clear of version 3 for a while), just click on the US version for Windows, download and install. This will not interfere with Internet Explorer and if you are unhappy with it you simply go to your Add/Remove window and remove Firefox. I doubt you will do that once you get the feel for Firefox. I keep 3 browsers on my computer, I use Firefox almost exclusively but keep IE and Opera so I can see how web pages render in all 3 browsers. Each is totally independent of the others. you might try from MajorGeeks AVG AntiVirus Free Edition 9.0 Build 698a1730 where you see the blinking download arrow you have 4 choices to select I would go with one of the first 2.

That is correct IE9 is NOT for any version of XP and if you have Vista be sure you get the proper version.
Download Internet Explorer 9
the top one is the English version on the select your version click the drop down arrow and make sure you select the one to go with your Operating system and if it is a 32 bit or 64bit. That of course goes for windows 7 users as well.

Yep. According to reviews by computer magazines, IE-9 works only in Vista and Windows 7. With Vista, MicroSoft broke with the old x86 architecture and wrote a completely new operating system. Much of the software written for sytems up through XP service pack 3 is incompatible with later operating systems. A lot of folks were caught with their drivers down when the switched to the new system. Older printers, scanners, and card readers stopped working until replacement drivers were installed.

Vista was bloat-ware. It is my understading that Windows-7 is much improved. I'm still running XP sp3 and plan to skip Vista. The penality is that I will not be able to upgrade directly by skipping Vista. I will need to start with a clean system. This means that I'll have to store all improtant data files and that's going to be a hazard for my email stuff. I have over 2000 messages; many of these are data for family genealogy.

Its going to be such a hassle. Maybe I'll build a new computer for Windows-7 and heep the old machine as a fallback and file transfers. The rebuild of my present computer will soon be 2 years old. I had to put in a new power supply a few months ago.

if those messages and data are important you should back them up anyway because hard drives fail all the time and at the most inopportune times. I use multiple forms of backup, I have online storage, cd and dvd and external hard drive for back up. Adrive online gives you 50Gig free storage which is a great deal of space.

even if you do keep the xp pc you can never be sure that hard drive will not fail on you the older they are the more wear and tear they have endured.

Be very careful with any upgrades, DH got a virus. They sneak in through the upgrades.
