Downloaded IE9 and all Heck Broke Loose

I upgraded IE9 on the Windows website and have had so many problems since then. (Vista) Crashes, freezes, monitor problems, alerts from virus protection. I was on the live chat with virus protection for 2 hours yesterday, they downloaded new version of virus program. I asked if IE9 was what caused the problem and they said it shouldn't have. This morning my computer had shut down for Windows updates, when I logged back on I couldn't access the virus program and I couldn't access my computer or IE. There was also an alert that read: "could not reconnect all network drives". I shut down again and everything came back up but now I'm paranoid because I'm pretty much clueless about computers. I tried to uninstall IE9 but when I follow directions from Windows to uninstall the program doesn't show up where it's supposed to be at to access it. I tried to restore to before I downloaded IE9 but it didn't help. Any thoughts out there before I completely lose it??

You may have to view "Installed updates" to see Internet Explorer 9. See link

Thanks for your suggestion, Joe, but when I go to step 3 to right-click on Windows Internet Explorer, it's not there on the list. I've searched the web about this and others have had the same problem. I have searched my computer and can't find it anywhere. It's like they (Microsoft) have found a secret hidey-hole to store it in. Even my son looked around and couldn't find it. (He's a lot more computer savvy than I am.) Believe me I have spent mega time on this. I went to the Microsoft website and tried the fix-it link and nothing happened, either.

Interesting title but I am definitely an animal lover though I am not too keen about encountering a bear or cougar in my yard!! But rats! Years ago I had several nice paphs and one day I discovered most of them had been eaten down to the roots!! It turned out a neighbor's boy had dumped his rats into my yard and they found their way into my greenhouse and had something to eat!! I used traps. But over the course of the years I learned that the best rat catcher was not a cat but a possum, who also eats slugs. I also have leanred about using nonlethal tactics to protect your plants. That is just leave food in an area regularly that is away from the plants. However with the arrival of raccoons forget all the above!! Not only do they make a mess of things but much of the time it is done in sheer play, even carrying off my doormat and tossing it around!! So I just let it go. Plants are nice but I am adverse to killing animals who are hungry and dealing with situations that have been and are being created by the ineptitude of man.

Well my repaired dams held until 3:40 PM when one finally let go, and the rush of water from that one quickly broke the other four in a cascading effect. There is now a river of brown muddy water flowing on the side of my house again. Enough is enough, stop the rain before I loose all my compost and several yards of my back yard. I already will have a bunch of mini-ravines to fill in when this rain finally stops. In my front yard water is pouring over the tops of my retaining walls like Niagra Falls. Maybe I would have been better off not building any dams and instead getting rid of the water as fast as possible. But after four years of drought I was trying to save as much water as possible from running off. But who would have expected this much rain after years of the weatherman being wrong about approaching rain storms.

you can google Raw Egg Rooting Method. There are believers (me) then there are some naysayers....whatever works for you. I put in a see thru container with LOTS of holes at the bottom...1 to 1 1/2 inch your choice of rooting medium packed in. Then the whole raw egg no cracks in the middle horizontal. Then atleast 3 inches of packed medium again... then the callused over cutting that I dipped in water with Superthrive and then into rooting hormone. Tap off excess and make a tunnel hole with your fingers big enuf for cutting to get into with out scraping off powder. Then atleast 2 more inches of medium over..(mind you the cutting is about 3 inches deep no more, could be less) I put a stake or 2 on the outer rim of pot and securely tie the cutting to it so no movement. Water thru till wet once with water with super thrive and then put where bottom can get heat....DO NOT WATER again till regular size leaves. You can mist a bit if really hot dry temps. Good luck, to each his/her own. ( do not push so hard you break the egg)

Yep. According to reviews by computer magazines, IE-9 works only in Vista and Windows 7. With Vista, MicroSoft broke with the old x86 architecture and wrote a completely new operating system. Much of the software written for sytems up through XP service pack 3 is incompatible with later operating systems. A lot of folks were caught with their drivers down when the switched to the new system. Older printers, scanners, and card readers stopped working until replacement drivers were installed. Vista was bloat-ware. It is my understading that Windows-7 is much improved. I'm still running XP sp3 and plan to skip Vista. The penality is that I will not be able to upgrade directly by skipping Vista. I will need to start with a clean system. This means that I'll have to store all improtant data files and that's going to be a hazard for my email stuff. I have over 2000 messages; many of these are data for family genealogy. Its going to be such a hassle. Maybe I'll build a new computer for Windows-7 and heep the old machine as a fallback and file transfers. The rebuild of my present computer will soon be 2 years old. I had to put in a new power supply a few months ago.

sorry ,, see you have tried it.
I've uninstalled IE9 several times by the command line method... you or someone might search that for vista.

Thanks, Mikey. I'm going to wait and see if I have any more problems with it after the glitch this morning. Please don't laugh but that's a lot of instructions to follow for a tech-dummy like me. But if I have to I will try. Right now everything is working and I even managed to pay bills on IE. The screensaver isn't going dim and then completely blanking out the monitor anymore, that was scary, along with what happened this morning where I couldn't access anything in the computer area.

have you run an updated malwarebytes scan? if not I would do that because there are malware that can cause similar problems and your antivirus program would likely not catch those.
It is good to have malwarebytes free and update it and scan every couple of weeks a complete scan.
