I Want To Thank You All

for all your kind words and messages. Thank you Linda for posting for me. At the time, my brain was reeling and it still is.

Nathan was such a positive, happy person. He never knew an enemy, and always had a smile on his sweet face.

He wasn't in pain with this. It was in the 'hard drive' of the brain stem. The first noticeable thing, was his balance was off, and he couldn't walk normally. Like his feet were heavy. It progressed to losing strength in his legs, then arms, he couldn't swallow solid food. Then it started affecting his breathing, which got really serious, and was what ended his life here on Earth. He'd told one of his teachers, "I'll be in Heaven before you even know I'm gone." I'm sure he was. I'm just having a very hard time with why so young. He was such an inspiration on everyone he met. I would think the Lord would have left him here as an inspiration to others. Not my call.

Awww, Leslie, I hope you know that there are many KT arms around you. We will never know why or understand why bad things happen to such good people, but I truly believe we will see our departed loved ones again. Please be good to yourself while you are in this hurting place. Love, in friendship, Dottie

I--well all of us--feel so bad for you. I hope you are taking care of yourself and know you're in my prayers. Life just doesn't seem fair sometimes, but like you said, we don't have much say in it. ((Leslie))

LOL, Phil!! Great Pic. and I hope Char will grab it and save it for herself! I have both the Norway Maple and the Green Ash. My solutions is to use whiskey barrels or pots around them. I try to create "interest" in other ways, rather than just plopping them (the barrels) down under the trees, such as rocks and tiered, etc.! So glad you are "wintering" over with us, despite the severity of the cold all over! Hosta folk, stay warm in their hearts, just dreaming of Spring and hosta emerging! I hope you will stay with us throughout the seasons, and go over to the "conversation" side when you run out of hosta questions--well, maybe that will never happen, but we do have fun "in and out" of hosta discussions there, too! Jasmine - What a great deal you got on those pots! WooHoo! Also, thanks for the compliment on the seed packets. You have no idea the countless hours that went in to me folding paper until I found the perfect design! LOL! Here's how you do it: 1. Cut a piece of notebook paper in fourths. Each piece of ruled paper will become the seed packets. I normally just crease it it half both directions and tear along the creased line. 2. Use the short side of the paper as the top. (There are two short sides and two long sides, like any rectangle would have.) I also like to use the red line that goes down the page to the inside of the packet, so that would be facing you right now. Bring the top left corner and top right corner down and in to the top middle part of the paper where both points meet. Where they meet, is where you'll crease the top left and top right side of the paper. It should look like a point at the top that forms a triangular shape at the top of the paper, like the point on an arrow. 3. Bring the bottom of the paper up until it meets the bottom of the triangular shape and crease it there. 4. Bring the left side in to the center of the paper and crease it there. (The center is easily visible by the line that was made in the middle of the top triangle shape you already made. 5. Do the same thing to the right side bringing it also into the center and creasing it. 6. Bring the bottom up to where the the left side and right side straight lines end. 7. Fold the top flap down inside the bottom flap you just brought up to "seal" the envelope. It really is an amazingly simple mini seed packet that used lightweight, ordinary notebook paper. All I do is open up the right side (because I'm right-handed), pour the seeds in and fold it right back up. One thing I would highly recommend is writing on the ruled lines on the front of the packet BEFORE filling with seeds. It's that simple. I've seen a lot of origami packets that had to use the heavier, bulkier paper to stay firm and like a good packet, but this isn't one of them. I've also seen that if even one little line is not perfectly creased, the packets looks "off", but this isn't one of them, either. It's a very forgiving design that hardly shows a flaw even when my kids make them! I hope others will try to make them. If I can scan each image along the way, then I'll try to make another post with pictures. I blow these out while I'm watching TV without ever cutting or gluing paper. I can make over a hundred in no time at all. Just the first ones you make take a little longer as you get used to it, then you fly right through them! Blessings, Angela

Thanks mtnredux!! I banged my fists on that one and he said "okkkkkk, I'll add those when painting and they are his custom design...a wee bit different (likes it that way) plus he put them on the window boxes smaller scale (demanded those too) you gotta love my landlord. :) he IS a contractor, builds cabinets, plumbing, electrical, anal to the letter, he is soooooo cool. outsideplaying -- my backyard sooo ghetto right now,is cracked up concrete all put in at different times, earthquake cracks too (uneven), roots pushing up from 100+ trees on outside properties, all dirt (and too much of it)no plants or grass-only an overgrown myer lemon tree in the worst place (by the back door) but that is a "must stay" a basement/crawlspace entry,those outside double door access , tiny too small back step,different height fences oh the termites had a feast (you lean against it anywhere it will fall) AND to top it off, most of the "fence" that goes between the patio cement and the driveway to the back cottage on same property with small cottage apts along the skinny driveway between property lines -not my owner (I know I have confused you to death) but it is way worn out bamboo attached to a trellis---I live in a freakin fish bowl in the back. GHETTO. plus this aluminum awning that covers part of the patio, in the middle of this tiny yard that rocks in the wind, with carpenter bees homes in the posts up high...... OH DON'T GET ME STARTED........... he said next summer, I design, he approves, he'll do the work.... and no, this isn't being sold. It's million dollar property, his dad's house (still alive) but sentimental to the kids, income forever, and this cottage is so not sellable, only the land, so he is so happy to fix up and spend his time and money. no that's a waste if you are going to sell a tear down. i need help on the inside in a few rooms too (only have a few rooms lol)

Leslie...I'm sure you know that the Lord leaves us here until our task is done. We'll never know what is was, who or where it was directed, but it was completed earlier than most.

Leslie, I'm struck by what you said about Nathan inspiring people. When a friend died last year I wrote the following in my blog:

She was smiling, but then Tasha always smiled. Her obituary uses the word luminescence. It fits. I used the word luminous in my daughter Jill's obituary, and it fit there, too. Some people start out life radiant and stay that way. It's just my guess, but I suspect most of them don't live long lives. They don't need to. They are so evolved, accomplish so much, and touch so many lives in such a short time, that they naturally rise quickly to the next level. And when they do, they leave a profound impression on all they leave behind. Jill was like that, and Tasha was, too.

I'm thinking Nathan was, too.

I just can't even begin to fathom your sadness and I pray God takes your grief away soon and leaves you with wonderful memories of Nathan...

sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks, i feel so awful for you and your family but grateful i (we here at kt) got a chance to be a part of nathans life. i cant imagine the pain you are going through, but we are here if you need us. many hugs to you and yours. also beautiful poem alisande, have never read anything like it.

I am so sorry Leslie...I had no idea. I haven't been here lately to check in and was shocked to see this post. I remember you were telling me of a doctor here when my nephew was going through his battle with brain cancer. Again I am so sorry....prayers to you and your family.
