We tend to use Kijiji more than Craigslist as there have been a lot of fraudulent postings on Craigslist in our area.
I have sold quite a few things on both sites, haven't bought much on either.

I haven't bought anything from Craigslist, but I've sold several things. Every listing brings a ton of scamming emails, which is rather a nuisance, but I'm willing to tolerate that if I can get rid of something locally, especially something that would be difficult to ship.

I love Craigslist. I have bought and sold on it with excellent results, both in CA and here in Iowa.

I Love Craigslist too! I furnished my room addition almost exclusively off Craigslist. I got a slipcovered sofa for $50., 2 swivel chairs for $150. and a matching antique china cabinet and buffet for I think $225.

I also got a really nice 3 piece glass and metal table set (coffee, end and sofa) for $150. off CL. It was left in a storage unit.

Oh... and my DD's Pontiac Vibe! Yes, we love Craigslist!

Craigslist isn't popular here at all. Kijiji on the other hand is really successful. I've sold furniture, camera, drum equipment, bread maker etc on Kijiji and have been very happy.

Jammer bought a plow that he wanted on Craig's list. I never think about it, but should. Think I'll check it out this morning.

DD Kalie (expecting #1 in Sept) has found alot on CL also! So many baby things are used very little and seems such a waste to buy some things brand new. I go with my bleach water and clean things and they will be as good as new!

They are in Des Moines and have a very busy CL....our local one, isn't so much.

I love craigslist too. I've bought stuff from it, sold stuff, found roommates, etc. I can spend hours looking through it.

Oh, YES - I visit that site several times a day.

I hawk CL everyday. Besides, GW, it's my most frequented site. My best bargain was a dining room set for $100 and it looks great.

I've never bought anything thru Craigslist, but I have given away TONS of unwanted items, including my most recent give-away an apartment-sized mini fridge. My daughter just threw it on our driveway when she moved out. I had no use for it, but I knew it still ran. so I advertized it as a "curb alert", and it was gone from the curb within an hour. I also gave away her architect's desk which had come from Ikea.

Freecycle is another favourite. Everything is given away for free....outgrown kids clothes and toys, appliances that are no longer needed, old monitors etc. Love it, love it.

Yep, I love CraigsList. DH is always wanting to toss stuff and I say NO - try CL first. Last night we sold the old PC, monitor, etc. for $50 and two high quality CD racks last Saturday for $50. DH brought them from CL, probably for around $50 several years ago. We have also given away a lot of stuff. I like the fact that we don't have to pay to have it hauled away, and it doesn't end up in the dump.

Clothes go to the local thrift store, though. It is a charity. I think selling clothes on CL would be too much hassle.

We have not purchased as much via CL as we have sold and donated from CL. Brought a few file cabinets, desks and a great chair.

One tip - DH had an expensive telescope that was an impulse purchase and he used only a few times. We posted that it would ONLY go to a school, etc. that could give us a tax (donation) receipt. That worked well for us.

We've sold a couple of cars and a refrigerator on Craigslist. We also put our rental ads in there.

Bearcat, have you had your sonogram yet so you can share the sex of your baby-to-be? I just wondered since you were picking up a play kitchen. I know boys can cook too, but I'm just sayin'......

Hi Patti---thanks for asking! The kitchen was actually for Brody--he LOVES play kitchens. The one I picked up today was very tiny---it went to Nana's house. I'm picking up another one tomorrow on CL that is much bigger for our house and it's also boy colors :)

The sonogram is Friday 3/12! I will post on Friday evening what the gender is--if baby cooperates!

Love Craigslist- found Woody a very hard to find topper for his truck, he drove 6 hours each way to get it. I got a wonderful antique hutch for my fabric storage, great deal. I haven't sold anything yet, but do have a listing up- a Dept. 56 Christmas in the City village..... had one nibble but the lady wanted me to box it all up and ship it to her. Sounded scammy to me so I declined. She could have driven up and gotten it for a lot less than it would have cost to ship it, I have 13 huge shopping bags worth of this stuff. She's only 3 hours away.
