Amazing Race 3/4/12

Hi TAR Fans,

What did you think of the show last night? I thought it was a good but not great. Not sure why I feel that way, but I do.

The Twins...really? Wow, they sure did not work well together at all. I thought they would fly through the harp challange and be on their way in no time. One of them even said how he strings his own instraments at home and had been doing it for years. Guess not.

The watermellon challange looked hot, hard and frustrating. If you didn't know to stack them exactly right, you were sunk. The team that stuck to it and finished that one last, should be given a lot of credit...and I would give it to them but the woman on that team is really anoying.

The bottle on the head thing was awful, but every team except the express pass team got it done...odd shaped head my patoot. I just don't think he had the patience for it. It looked like he didn't even try and his wife (?) knew from the time the first bottle hit the ground that it would not end well.

Not sure who my fav team is yet but I am thinking it could be the KY boys. So far they seem to be enjoying themselves, have been good sports and have figured stuff out.

Who is the woman that gets so frustrated so easily, cries and turns into a little baby when she can't do stuff? I think she was on another show that I have never seen. She can be very anoying also.

OK, so, what did you think? Good show last night or just so-so.

I thought it was pretty good. The watermelon task looked like one that required perfectly sized watermelons and some experience, a lot of strength and some height- I would have opted for the harp right away. I'm good at that kind of thing, though. The balance/bottle task looked really hard, I'm surprised so many teams were able to do it. How come water seemed to pour out of the bottoms of the bottles when they would tip off of a head, before they broke? That struck me as odd.

The people with the Express Pass- he's really hard on himself and not a gracious loser at all. His wife seems very nice, though.

Rachel, the whiner..... ugh. She's so annoying and you can tell she thinks she's a special princess, with all her bowing and posing. From the previews of next week, she's not going to be any better.

I wasn't attached to the brothers at all, so I didn't mind them going. I like the cousins, they seem to be doing well together. I miss the clowns. :o(

    lol

That cry baby is Rachel. She (and Brendon) were on Big Brother for two different seasons. Yes, she cries at the drop of a hat, gets angry and blames Brendon and others for everything that goes wrong, but they are also very competitive and I expect to see them there to the end.

The team that finally completed the watermelon challenge... I agree about her. She's a nasty woman. Her name is Vanessa, I think. By the end, I was hoping they would be eliminated.

The twins surprised me, too. How could it have taken them so long to finish stringing their harp when one of them strung his own guitars at home? Makes no sense!

What was up with the bottle-balance challenge? Did you notice how the bottles would break when they would reach up to try to catch them? It looked like some of them broke with very little tension.

I don't know who my fav team is yet. Up until last night I liked the pilot and his wife but he came off as a poor sport during the watermelon challenge and then up to the end of the show. The Kentucky guys get on my nerves still. Well, the white guy does. The black guy I like.

Maybe I'll root for Rachel and Brendon, laugh when she cries, laugh harder when Brendon pets and coddles her and tells her how wonderful she is. Sheesh, I'm desperate for someone to root for!

I guess I'm still rooting for the Madison team (pilot and wife) but they need to get back in my good graces, lol.

I love the Kentucky guys. Sure they're loud, but in a funny way. Some of the quips from the white guy are funny. Plus, I think they could really use the million bucks. Maybe then he could get some teeth. And if they really live like the first promo showed, they are pretty poor. They do seem to be having fun.

That Vanessa is piece of work, isn't she. So she could see Rachel's hoo-ha, why keep repeating it over and over. That's the problem with wearing legging without undies, lol. When you bend over, they stretch out.

Rachel is completely annoying. And Brandon, we know your'e smart so take off the UCLA Medicine t-shirt, K? I do think they will go far because they are so competitive. I was surprised Madison did so poorly.

TAR is one of my favorite shows, but I'm having trouble connecting this season. I was bored with last nights's show.

I expect to see Rachel and Brendon go far in the game, they are good competitors as long as he keeps telling her how wonderful she is. I actually rooted for her on Big Brother last season because the other contestants were so awful.

My least favorite is Vanessa and I was hoping she would be the one to go last night. I still don't have a favorite yet and I usually do by now.

There was something very odd about the bottle challenge. I don't think the bottles were made from glass. I think it was the same stuff used in movies and stunts. They broke way too easy. Some were barely touched and broke.

I was bored with last nights show. It has become almost predictable.

I can't stand the border guys. Egotistical and over the top. I like the blonde Rachel and her guy. I don't like the Kentucky guys.. too loud and in your face. I wished for Vanessa to go instead of the twins. She's b!tch with her foul mouth. I still like Brenden and Rachel. I'm used to her on BB. She cries at the drop of a hat but don't underestimate her . She whizzed thru the challenges and won 1,000,000 from BB. She's not stupid. I think they counterbalance each other . He IS as Phd candidate who wants to work on cancer research.

I've discovered the best way to watch the show this season is online - without all the commercials. Not feeling it this time either, but curious enough to keep watching. Do not care for the Kentuckians (I swear I heard the loud mouthed one mention noose last week while they were riding in the cab), in fact I have no favorite team. It seems even more scripted than before and a contest to see who can say the "funniest" or "stupidest" thing for more air time. I knew the watermelon challenge was going to unhinge most of the teams.

susanjf - I'm with you on that one, "if they go to India one more time..." :)

    I enjoyed it :o)

Looks like they might be going to Africa???

I don't understand why so many folks here at the KT are rooting for Rachel and Brendon when so many folks here at the KT were so adamantly against Boston Rob and Amber when they were on TAR. The folks who were against Rob and Amber kept saying that because she'd won $1 million on Survivor that they shouldn't be on TAR. Well, Rachel won $1 on Big Brother, so why is it ok for her but not Amber?

I think that some of the reasons they've gone to India so many times are that seeing the plight of the people who live there might awaken a humanitarian spirit in those who watch the show; the country can certainly use the money the producers pay in order to film in the country; the show undoubtedly uses (and pays) local folks to work behind the scenes while they are "in county" which is greatly needed; and there are a lot of local customs, etc., that make for good challenges.

I like the Kentucky guys. They are having a good time, they're not giving each other grief, and they're playing fairly.

And speaking of Boston Rob and Amber, Rob showed a lot of smarts when they were on. Remember the challenge where they had to take a specific number of hardbound books from some store and deliver them to a library and put them all on the shelves? They had to use a handtruck to move them from one location to the other. Well, Rob figured out how to stack the correct number of books on the handtruck so that they only had to make ONE trip between the two locations, while all of the other teams had to make at least two trips. Then, there was that awful meat-eating challenge where one team member had to eat an incredible amount of really gross stuff. If you didn't finish a challenge, you had to endure a two-hour penalty at that location before you could move on to the next task. Well, Rob knew that there was no way that he could eat that stuff, so he said to Amber that all he had to do was officially say he was sitting out the challenge, then wait a few minutes and then talk one other team into sitting it out, too. Because he had started the penalty first, it would guarantee that at least one team would be behind them so they wouldn't get eliminated. He had no trouble at all convincing another team to sit out that challenge, and I think at least one other team decided to sit it out, too.

So... Phil made a big mistake on this week's episode when he said to the team who had the two-hour penalty at the pit stop that this was the first time in TAR history that a team that had to wait through a penalty hadn't ended up being eliminated -- because Rob and Amber did it during their season.
