More questions of Cabinet Coat
Comments (2)1. Priming is not a must. The only time I would prime is over melamine or a laminate finish. Cabinet Coat self primes over bare wood too. 2. Any white or pastel colors. 3. You can glaze it after 7 days. Use waterbased glazing. Cabinet Coat is a urethane acrylic waterborne and applies much like an alkyd (oil) paint. A quality brush is required and thin coats are a must to prevent runs, drips, sags. Michael...See MoreA version of the one coat/two coats question for house exterior
Comments (5)Just to clarify, both painters are saying they would do an oil-based primer on house and trim. In fact, all five painters said they would do a full prime of the house since we are changing colors. If I remember correctly, all five painters specified they would use an oil-based primer. I'm assuming some of the painters are proposing just one coat of finish paint because they consider the full priming of the house as the first coat. Of the five quotes I received, only two would do two coats after laying down a full coat of primer. The painter proposing one coat of Aura said he would use BM's Fresh Start Exterior Primer; the others don't specify which primer they would use....See MoreCabinet Coat color & amount questions
Comments (3)The funny thing was I didn't go in looking for paint. I was in the Coppell, TX ACE near DFW. I had just dropped my DH off at the airport, so figured I'd go in to get some Benjamin Moore paint swatches. They're one of the only BM dealers that is open on Sunday. I was actually looking for a wall color for my kitchen. I ran into the Cabinet Coat while walking my kids to the bathroom. I actually did a double take. I had read about it a couple of years ago, but could never find it locally. I started to think it didn't really exist. When I got my CC home, I googled it. That's when I started to read about how ACE's version is comparable. In fact, I read your comparison post. Thanks for that btw, very informative. I've just started experimenting with the color. I'm definitely keeping track of the ratios. I'm even dropping it on my swatches to see how it compares color-wise. If I don't end up with a color I can live with, I'll just use the CC for a smaller project like a bathroom vanity and go with the tintable ACE paint for my kitchen cabinets. I'm asuming that since my local ACE is a BM dealer too, they'll have all the formulas to mix the ACE paint to a BM color. I'll post some pictures when DH comes back. He took the camera : )....See Moreyet another cabinet coat question...
Comments (2)Apparently, where you buy the Cabinet Coat makes a difference. I bought it at a Bruning Paint Center, and they had the codes to color match the Cabinet Coat to a shell white Duron color that I needed. If you have doubts about the color, you can buy a quart for about half the price of a gallon. Here is a link that might be useful: Bruning Paint Company...See Morekaroloke
