Getting close to finalizing layout - pictures

This is a kind of basic look at the 1976 builder grade remodel we are about to start. One of my biggest tweaks was having a window sink on the right wall which overlooks a valley.

(Plumbing will be relocated - $1.000, tough call, but I really did want this.)

Somehow I feel it could use a little more achitectural interest somewhere. I know we're limited in the space (17" long and 10' deep.)

It will be either done in rustic alder or cherry with a whisky glaze, as I like a warm, slightly rustic look. Standard 8' ceilings - floor will be 18" -20" deep earthy beige/brown/terra cotta tile laid diagonally and gold/brown granite countertops w/natural stone backsplash.

Pendants or a chandelier light over the island to be figured out later. Rustic iron maybe, don't want to get too heavy-handed on the "rustic" decor.

Any thoughts are completely welcomed.

Trying to figure out a cornice or valance over the windows that will add some visual interest and maybe break up all of the wood.:
