Need Senior yearbook page ideas

Does anyone have any ideas for senior yearbook page? I am doing full page and have some pictures but not sure what to write. I would like to put a saying or poem in there,If I can find some ideas or where to begin.

WHen I wrote the message for my kids year book it was basically the same, and it was something on the order of when they were little the liked XXx and now they're older and likeXXx but they're still the love of our lives. I know that didn't come across right, let's see if I can remember one (we only had a few lines)

From "Days" to "Dawson Creek" we've watched our little girl grow up. You'll always be our little Sar-Bear. Love Mom and Dad. She loved to watch Days of our Lives with me...and still loves it to be honest...that year her favorite show was Dawson's Creek. Her nick-name from Dad was and is Sar-Bear (Sarah...Care Bears). She cried!!!

Don't do it.

My daughter, now 28 and a mother, was looking through her senior yearbook today. I brought it up to her so she could find a classmate. As she went through the back of the book, she looked up and said "have I ever thanked you for NOT putting one of those stupid ads in the back of the yearbook?"

Looking at them 10 years later, she said it was very embarrassing for her to see the ads her friends parents put in, and she couldn't imagine how awful they must feel now, especially the ones the kids did with their current boy or girl friend.

I told her that it never occurred to me to place one of those ads, as I firmly believe in not embarrassing my children. Those ads seemed like an awful idea at the time, and they still do.

If you have to do something, wish them all well and remind them that there is life after high school, and it just gets better and better.

Facebook isn't just about "friending" people you know face-to-face. It's about networking with people who have the same interests you have. If it wasn't for Facebook, I wouldn't talk to my cousins, who ALL live in The Netherlands. None of us like letter writing. Their emails get lost in all the spam I get. I have a lot of co-workers on FB and we have silly conversations on FB that we can't have at work. We don't all work the same shifts, so it's nice to talk on FB when it's convenient for us. I have friends who live in the US. We are a group of women (I mentioned our private group here a few days ago), and a few of us have met face-to-face. We used to use YahooGroups, but Facebook is so much easier to use. I belong to several colouring groups, photography groups, Calgary groups, etc., to get information directly from others. I learn more through FB about my hobbies than I do through Google, although quite often when I ask a question, I'll get sent to google... lol Facebook is addictive. It's fun. It's my way to keep up with my family because we are all so busy with our families, jobs and life in general. Do I really care what someone ate for breakfast? Nope. And they're probably not interested in what I ate either. But we post pictures and sometimes someone will say, "hey! You have a recipe for that? It looks delicious!". There is so much more than posting the food you eat or how the weather is.

Colleen, I laughed out loud when I read your description of your daughter's posed smile! Jan, I do have paybacks to look forward to. My kids are much easier to get along with than I was but I always say I was the teenager my mother deserved! ;) Michelle, I remember those stiff senior portraits with the off the shoulder drape that all looked alike. I can't believe the photographer gave you fake hair! How bizarre! I went to a small boarding school my last year of school and if there was a yearbook and senior photos, I was out of that loop. I graduated early anyway and was gone by March of that school year. Shaun, I don't know what he was thinking but he was saying something along the line of "I want to go change. Aren't we done, yet? I think the first shot was fine (his eyes were closed)." So there is no mystery why I have 50 pics of Alice to every one of Daniel. I love this one of Alice on Haight Street:

As stated earlier this is such a personal choice. I find the "rule" of hanging personal photos in only private spaces TEDIOUS!! What is the point of having pictures if you can't display them?!? I have also been told one should never display kid photos in a master bedroom, that is WACKED too IMHO!! Saying that, I have one family photo, 8x10 on a large corner table and I have the kid's latest school pictures in 5x7 frames on top of our antique secretary in the living room. Each of the 5x7 frames is a photo album book. I have smaller photos, formal and casual of each of them, for each year inside. When distant family appear or when the kids have a reason to show them off, the photos are at hand. Downstairs in the family room I have many, many photos on book shelves..from my grand-parents to my nieces and nephews. I find it curious that "high style" dictates no photos, yet every movie, TV show that goes into someone's home family photos are prominent. So far I have one graduate, one coming this year. My son's senior picture is in the 5/7 frame. When they were being taken and printed I made my choices on what to print, with with the realization that within one year or less of his graduation I am the only person who will ever care to look at it again. I will not ever display a college graduation picture. There won't be one, I would suspect. I don't see the point of them. If mom doesn't want one, they don't happen!! Some day wedding pictures will need a place. That is so far from now I can't worry about it. Perhaps I will finally put away the sibling family wedding pictures I have on display down stairs.... As far as what to do with the 11x14 or 8x10's I am clueless. Never in my life have I purchased an 8x10 of a single person. There isn't enough wall space I figured, and if you can't display them what is the point of having them? I find family picture wall galleries a magnet, a conversation piece. Everyone loves to see the pictures, time standing still. Why would you want that in a "private" space? It will only mean you will have people trooping through your "private" spaces.

I'm w/ azzalea and sheilajoyce and redcurls--but I like sheilajoyce's point about sending me something less permanent. It's nice to see what the kid looks like, but honestly it will rapidly become clutter. Technically, it's not legal for your to scan the photo company's portrait and e-mail it to your friends--that's copyright violation. So I'd vote for buying the bare minimum for closest family members (not even cousins), and taking your own portrait-like pic of the kid to e-mail around (and people can print them off if they want). You could also do a poll of aunts, uncles, and godparents, to see what size they'd like. I do 5x7s for mom & dad bcs that's what they want, 8x10s for ILs (ditto), and wallets or the slightly bigger ones for godparents and aunts&uncles. My SIL did have pics of nieces and nephews up at her house, stuck in the frame of her mirror, but no one that seemed to be just friends. I can see she might have friends' kids up for closest friends, the kids who FEEL like nieces and nephews.

This song was the song the seniors passed down to our junior class in high school (with some of the words changed). I don't know if your daughter is leaving for college or going out on her own, but you may be able to change the words some and come up with an appropriate 'song' to her. Hopefully, it wouldn't be too embarrassing.

I don't think it's a bad idea. I plan on doing a smaller ad for my DD this year.
