One Drawer Pull Or Two Drawer Pulls?
Comments (14)Did any of you do one pull and wish you had two? I have one pull on all drawers, no matter what the width. I have 27s, 30s and 33s. Not even for one second did I regret going with one only. I'm into convenience, form following function, etc. I don't know if a drawer would get messed up if you only pull one when you have two installed, since you're always pulling from the one side, but I don't want to find out the hard way. Anyway, I like the look of one pull only. So for those trying to decide, I'd say to ask yourself the following questions: -- Do I like the look of two better than one? -- Do I like that look enough to make it worth having to use two hands to open the drawer every time? Only you can answer for yourself, there's no right or wrong answer except as it applies to your own situation. I will say that having had kitchens where two hands were required for things that could have been accomplished with one, there's just no contest....See MoreDo they make drawer pulls that take only one hole?
Comments (13)I have been looking for the same thing and have seen them in the past, but cannot find them anywhere now. They were arched handles/pulls where each end sat flat against the outside of the cabinet or drawer, with a single screw shaft in the center that the screw tightened into from the inside of the drawer. It was all one single piece of metal, brushed nickel or bronze. As long as the screw stayed tight, it would sit horizontally or vertically as you needed it to. I suspect you could also put a dab of liquid nails or something to keep the ends in place. Either way, if anyone knows were I can get these, I'd love to know. Haven't seen them in years, but can't stand the hairdryer cord getting caught on the knobs every time I move it and want to replace the single holed knobs with arched handle pulls without having to drill new holes and fill in the old one. Thanks for any help anyone might have!!...See MoreShort pulls on big drawers? Or do I have to do double knobs?
Comments (20)Good things to think about--thanks! I ordered a few knobs/pulls and will test them for sharpness. I can put them in my bathroom for a test run. I decided my paper mockups don't do a good job of representing the bulkiness (or lack of bulkiness of the pulls; I needed to cut out the middles. Zwizzle, I agree with you on the function of one pull (or knob, or whatever). It just seems right for function. These drawers are big (in addition to being wide, the interior space is about 28" front-to-back), and will hold heavy stuff, so if I think I'll be tugging from one offcenter handle, I should avoid the 2-handle setup. Maybe I can mix a large rectangular bar with these pulls if they pass the pain test. So, back to knob shopping. Do y'all think black is the way to go for handles that don't stick out? The countertop here will be stainless steel, faucets and (probably temporary) lights chrome, but house-ish metals are brass (doorknobs, window hardware, etc.). I think a dirty brass might be alright but I don't want anything sparkly. At least I don't think so....See MoreNeed help positioning cup pull and door knobs on vanity drawer/doors
Comments (6)Thanks for the input. Near unanimous to rely on my tin-eye to position the pulls. It is telling me to center the holes and let the body of the pull sit above the vertical center of the drawer. So that's what I'll do. I guess if it looks wrong later on I can get a slightly wider cup pull and position it lower covering the old holes. Thanks again, Barry...See Morepondlily
