Always watch the local news station--just saw the tease for an upcoming segment. They're making DEEP-FRIED PIZZA. Looked like there was something--maybe poppyseeds?--in the batter they were coating the slice with. I'm sorry, that's just wrong. Pizza, battered and deep-fried?

But then, I guess I'm being a hypocrit. One favorite local tradition around here are Franco's Panzarotti's. They're a turnover made with pizza dough, filled with pizza sauce, cheese and your favorite toppings (I like meatball), then deep fried. Guess the only real difference is that panzarotti's aren't battered.
