I auditioned Gray Owl and went with Gray Horse instead. It's less green and a good bit darker.

Comfort Gray and Sea Salt gray from SW.

I looked at Gray Owl too for a moment.
I also found that Silver Fox took on purple undertones in my kitchen. Not much natural light in there. I've seen it look wonderfully warm.

I LOVE my Revere Pewter but it may read too light for a mans dennish type are but I think that it would be worth have aSW mix a CTG of it and darken it a bit for you. Yes, I'm difficult.

I have a sample of a pale SW gray color on DD's bedroom and I can't recall the name but am wondering if it's off the same strip as Comfort Gray.

I'll have to hold up my fandeck w/ BT next to my alcove still in SW Requisite Gray.

I'm curious now to go look at my decks and see how RP would come into play w/ your other colors.

How dark do you want to go? Are you open to F&B? Check out "Lamp Room Gray" a very beautiful blue gray, medium in tone. Not light, but not dark either.

Other grays I have in the house are C2's "Archival" a true, silver gray, DKC #16, a warm gray with a slightly violet undertone at some times of day, and taupe ones at others, and F&B's "Off White" which has hints of taupe and green in it. These three are all lighter than Lamp Room Gray.

Did you look in the gallery? There's quite a few grays there.

I've been looking at the chip for SW Sea Salt. It has that greeny blue shade that my DD is thinking. I love the FB Grays and have the big chips, but I would need to make a decision and have the paint here by the weekend. My plan is to paint during the week my DH is in New York. He's back on March 8. I have a tester of Revere Pewter and it seems too light also. Oh, I don't know, maybe I should just do a neutral soft color and quit worrying about getting something with more ooomph! DD just saw the strip with Comfort Gray and said, "This is it!" but I don't know if it is or not...

p.s. DD is 23 and lives at home. Desperately wants to get her dad a desk to go with the bookshelves already in the room and fix it up so he is not squished into a desk corner in the dining room. Maybe I should look for drape fabric and then, think. Or not.

I have Gray Owl in my spare bedroom and it's a great color but in my room it's more blue/green than gray. I still wonder if it was mixed wrong. Either way I still really like the color

It's dark but what about something like BM Intrigue #1580? or BM Heather Gray #2139-40? I think that even if you darkened RP it would be too similar to RGG.

The WHOOPS!! thing is making me crazy. When I Google something, like F&B Lamp Room Gray, for example, some of the most interesting links will be from Garden Web. But there seem to be almost no archives anymore. I don't understand why....it is such a great resource.

I saw some beautiful photos of a charcoal color by BM called Iron Mountain, but I will need to get to the BM store because it may be really dark. I will check out the ones mentioned while I am there. The Kid is really not wanting a gray in there, she wants a blue green shade, but I have seen how hard it is to get the right one. I should probably splotch my River Gorge Gray from the kitchen to see if that might work.

Red - Sea Salt is a very light gray and does have the under tones you mention, if you want something similar that's just a tad darker, something a long the lines of Comfort Gray would be a good option.

I love the blue grays! Try these BM colors:
Fresco is very pale
Chopin Etude
Oxygen
Salt water is slightly greenish
SW Overcast is slightly more bluish

Just to update for those who tried to help but didn't see my photos posted on another thread.......
I finally pulled out my stash of large Farrow & Ball chips and took Pigeon to be colormatched at my local Ace Hardware store. Turns out, they actually had the formula for it in their computer for Benjamin Moore paint, so I bought Ben Moore colormatched to Pigeon.
We absolutely love it! It provides just the right amount of color, looks blue at some times, more gray green at others. We bought an old desk off Craigslist for $40 and spent another $40 spray-painting it black. I reused his leather desk chair and my DD's bookshelves. We put back the old persian rug and will consider wood flooring later down the road. I need to hem the Lowes canvas dropcloths I have hung as drapes, and then, I'll be done.

In the first picture on the link I show, it looks more blue than in reality, but the other two shots are pretty true. All 3 pix were taken within a few minutes of each other one afternoon this week.
