What a nice gift from Karen :o)

I don't know why I was surprised when the box came. I knew it was coming, but it still felt like Christmas! In a previous thread, Karen (Trixietx) very sweetly offered me her unique potato masher. I commented it was a unique masher that I simply had to have. I was going to order one from an online cooking store if I couldn't find one at a brick and mortar. Karen said she had one and didn't like it. As if that wasn't sweet enough.... A jar of homemade salsa AND jabenero jelly! They were carefully wrapped in newspaper and arrived without a scratch! I've not had a chance to try any of them yet, but I can't wait. I'll have to post my review of the masher once I try it out. I brought it in to work and no one guessed what it was. One person thought it was a gearshift for a car! 2 others suggested it was a novelty toy if you know what I mean (my goodness)!

Does it count as a SURCIE if you know about it in advance? What again does the acronym mean? I've already forgotten. The salsa and jelly were a surprise for sure!

So sweet, especially coming from a total stranger. Thanks again Karen for everything!

How sweet of Karen to send you the Salsa and Jelly along with the potato masher.

I would not have guess what it was either.

Some in my group just don't get the whole pic thing yet, but they love the food! Ann, I agree, it was great talking to you! Sherry, if you ever want some more HC just let me know. Linda, I will try to post that recipe in the next couple of days. This will be one of our new ones to try this year. I hope to fool BIL with the spinach. It is still on page 63 Karen. Thanks again Karen for a super swap box! It will go down in history with me and my family and friends! BTW, the Mayhaw Jelly is fantastic! David

Finally had Foie Gras, that Karen from France sent me!

Yipee!! I'm glad you liked it! Fois gras is definately not something we eat every day. It's entirely too rich both for the hips and for the wallet lol. It's normally reserved for christmas and new years. My MIL makes it from scratch and it just melts in your mouth(provided that my FIL doesn't go overboard on the cognac that he adds to it lol) I was a little nervous that the one I sent would be kinda' gross actually. I'm so used to my MIL's that I hadn't really bought any myslf in awhile. I did buy one for christmas (different brand and cheaper) just to have "whenever" and it was pretty gross. I was dissappointed and then I hoped that the one I sent wasn't the same. I'm glad that it turned out ok and was good. Don't forget that it goes great on a salade with a vinagrette sauce! You can keep it for up to 2 weeks in the fridge after it's opened. Karen

I'm with you Glenda...about the 'getting old' deal!! Went to my eye Dr on Thursday-been having headaches every day and was due for a 2 yr eye exam. Dr found a fast growing cataract in my left eye. DARN! I know it's no biggie to get it removed but methinks I'll wait until autumn if I can. The new lenses set me back $300 and I HAVE TO have them NOW. Obviously-the strength will change & I'll need a new prescription following surgery, so I'm going to get my $300 worth while I can! Grrrr (64 yr old Sharon growling, as she exits this post!)

I saw one of those mashers when I was out Swap shopping. I picked it up and played with it, but didn't buy it. It's really neat!!! How nice of Karen. Diana55

It's not an acronym, it's a southern term meaning a sweet little gift from a friend. And yes, it does count as a SURCIE.

How nice of Karen.

Bobby, I am glad the masher, salsa and jelly made it to Florida. Please post how you like the masher, I just couldn't make it work (and if you don't like that one I have a Mr. Potato masher I will send you that didn't work for me either.)

So sweet of Karen to send you the surcie!

Karen, remember me? You were my first CF Swap partner and sent me so many wonderful things that I still use today. You also included several jars of homemade jelly, Wild Plum and Pepper. They've been long gone for a while now, but I still remember how good they were.

Bobby, I can't wait to hear how the potato masher works for you. And I have no doubts that you will love the salsa and the jelly.

Karen, how nice of you to share like that.

PS Bobby, I hope you've learned that people aren't strangers for long here.

Bobby isn't it just the most amazing feeling when you get a gift like this. It's so weird, in a fabulous way, to feel connected to the folks we meet here.

Karen is a sweetie pie...that's for sure!
