A beautiful sunny day today. The ground is still covered with snow but I'm sure a lot of it will be melting. The next few days are to be in the mid to upper 40's but rain moving in Sunday. So glad Spring in just around the corner. How about you?

Well, enjoy your lovely day!

Us? We woke up to unexpected snow. Roads are fine, but the grass is covered. Supposed to stop in a few hours, and we're going up to the 40's I believe, so it shouldn't be a problem. Hoping it clears up quickly--really wanted to get out and about today.

But the weekend is supposed to be lovely and warm, and Monday upper 50's are predicted.

My son said he was listening to his satelite radio afew days ago and heard a station in Iowa giving instructions on how to cope with the heat the next day. The recommendation was to drink plenty of water and stay in doors if you could because the temp was expected to be between 92 and 94 degrees with a heat index of over a 100. Poor hawkeyes! According to my electronic weather stations, of which I have 3 of, my heat indexes top 120 to 129 every single day. My house is surrounded by large oak trees of which I have read can expire up to 300 gals. of water aday and we all know that moist air holds more heat than dry air. I have a small creek just to the west of my house and my neighbor has a pond about 200 ft. to the south of my house. Add all these things together and and I have heat indexes of 124 on average, every single day. This spring I planted 100 pine trees of which I've lost 15 so far. Ive lost 3 blueberries and one Northstar cherry and a Mars grape. Every morning im up before daylight wondering in which direction do I water today and please Lord don't let the well motor go out. The Rose of Sharon hedge row has yellow leaves but the crape myrtles out by the front fence are wilting and please God dont let me forget the watermelons in the garden or the birdhouse gourds that wilt every single day and oh my gosh I forgot the blackberries. I know I'm not alone in this. Everyone reading this has the same problem. GOD help us all. And now that ive had my morning whine, i'm off to water. I hope we all get a nice rain soon.

Pardon me while I crash this thread to vent. Today's main vent is tangentially related to kitchens: we designed an eat-in kitchen in our remodel, so our formal dining room is now a guest room, and the workman I'm venting about is doing finish carpentry in that area. He's taking two days to do what should be about a four-hour job, he's been over two hours late each day, and he's pushing me to pay the balance of the job in cash due to some income restriction/tax dodge that's, frankly, not my business OR my problem. I was mildly sympathetic to his plea, but when he emailed at 9.50am for our 10am appointment to say he'd be here at 11am IF he could find parking; then emailed at noon to whine about not being able to find a spot.....let's just say my sympathy dried right up. Today's minor vent: we've been at substantial completion on our kitchen-plus job since December 2014, GC has done about half the punchlist and the longer he waits to do the rest (and get paid his retainer), the more problems crop up: a tile might be lifting off the bathroom floor, a kitchen cabinet door is hanging improperly, we suspect the bathroom vent is not quite doing its job because there's a musty smell that takes a while to build up but is definitely there. Will this danged job EVER end???????

It's snowing here but the ground is warm so it is only sticking to the grass, not the street. It's kind of pretty. I am not quite ready for spring as I have not completed my indoor winter projects! The moment it gets a bit springish, I am out in the yard. By late June it is too hot for much outdoor work. I really prefer the snuggliness of winter over the stinking hot and humid summers we have. I like winter clothes better, too.

Rain is gone, sun shining brightly. Should be in the mid 60's today and may hit 70 Sunday.

Sunny and warming here. 72 for the high today and slowly going up the rest of the 5 day forecast. Maybe now I can get out and get those dirty windows cleaned!

Sun is out here as well... supposed to get to 50 today, we are still getting freezing temp at night but yes spring is just around the corner Yea......I see my tulips are breaking through the ground...Love Spring !!!!!!!!!!!!!...

dedtired, you and I must be the only people here who love winter and HATE hot humid summer. As usual, not a flake of snow here. We have gotten none this winter except an inch or two. Nothing in the big snow hype earlier in the week.

It's been raining and overcast here (just south of Los Angeles) most of the day. Love it!

Lily, I just came from a three week trip through Southeast Asia. Ninety degree plus temps with 90%+ humidity nearly year 'round in some areas. Suffocating and icky. I honestly don't know how people live in that kind of climate.

Very windy here, and cloudy, and it felt rather cold, while we were out riding (41 miles) the tandem.

Supposed to be cold and wet tomorrow, and I guess, I will clean house... LOL
