Ha! Love your anticipation of comments about the color which is very pretty btw. I too have been in the mood lately to just say, this is what I like and I'm not asking you how you feel about it. :c) (I say lately but it's really been since I turned 50 a couple of years ago!)

I love it, I used to hate gray but am starting to admire some of the gray rooms on GW. Nice job!

Thank you all so much. jillinnj, thanks, we made that molding by hand about 20 yrs. ago on a labor day weekend. My DH cut the pieces and I glued, nailed, primed and painted them on to wood. We then put all four boards up. I still have a half inch trim to put up that needs painting. I love the trim but wonder each time we have to paint it if it is worth it. The den trim is even worse but just painted it so it will probably out live me, thank g*d!

DH used the Aura exclusively to paint DD2's house 2 year ago. He couldn't stop talking about it - and he's used almost every brand out there.

I feel sad for those who don't like gray. I think yours is absolutely stunning.

I'm not sure about that Aura paint. I put three coats on in my powder room and I can still see through it but everyone else loves it. It came out of my hair really well though!

Haven't used the Aura, since plain old Ben Moore is still working for me, as well as the top of the line Ace paint mixed up in BM colors. But.....

....That gray is lovely and the dining room looks gorgeous.

I like Aura paint too, but recently had to find a paint other than BM to use for a bathroom becaue I needed to paint on a Sunday and the BM store wasn't open. I ended up with Pratt and Lambert interior paint which was just as nice as the BM Aura and not as expensive per gallon.

Wonderful room. Another Aura lover here and that grey is fantastic. Agree with Jill on the woodwork-wow! You are going to come back with more pics when the room is all set up again, aren't you?

I love the crown molding and that Aura Gray paint is beautiful with just the one coat! So with two coats it will be even more gorgeous! What finish did you use (eggshell, satin, etc.)?

I looked - never could follow orders very well! LOL Actually I don't hate grey just can't live with it myself. I do love your grey and good to get another recommendation for Aura.

Hope you post pics when it's all decorated, I want to see what you put with the grey.

(After years of de-brassing, my LR seems to be filling up with it again. I am debating changing the walls from gold to grey - your pic is certainly swaying me that way).

I am so glad you all seem to think the chandelier looks ok. I actually considered replacing it because of the gold plating is not the most "in" look right now. I would love to replace the rug and furniture as well but just can't do it for a while. Mersy, I had BM match this paint color from a valspar paint color 4003-2B named Rugged Suede. This color is similar to one in my rug and why I picked it. The sheen is matte. As you can see in the picture the crown and wainscoting is very high gloss so I wanted some contrast to that.

Thank you for all the nice comments on the crown. It was fun to do the DR. We also made the den crown which wasn't as much fun. All these little pieces are individually cut, sanded, glued, nailed, primed and painted to larger boards. Hey, if we didn't make it ourselves we wouldn't have anything. Here is a picture of the crown in the den during our last paint job.

I used the BM Aura in my bedroom in the matte finish. It is gorgeous. It went on so nicely, and I did one coat.....over a dark terra cotta. Something about that matte finish too--it's like suede or velvet...goes on like buttah.

The color looks great. I'm really leaning towards picking a gray for the whole house 1 color choice. I can just do so much with gray. Why fight a good thing?

bee, I not only think you could go whole house I think you should. If I had it to do again I would add 3 drops of brown, but really it's fine as is. I have never loved gray but I don't think there were good gray's out there to work with. I think there are tons of colors that look so chic and elegant with gray. You are so good with colors I am sure you will nail it!

I've never tried the Aura. we've always used regal, but I may try it next time.

I was a gray hater at one time, then I did my bathroom in Aura Wish. I get so many compliments on it. I love your gray. It is so warm and the chandelier is stunning with it. I'm so impresses with your molding. My Dh put molding in our bedrooms but we just bought it, painted it and installed it ourselves. Yours must have been a lot of work. Again, gorgeous.

I never liked gray until I went to an estate sale at the home of an interior designer who was going into a nursing home. The walls were a med gray with trim being about two shades lighter, including crown/doors. It was absolutely stunning and more formal looking than I would have thought gray could ever look. ;o)

Patty cakes, I remember your post about this designers home using gray. I'll bet that was stunning. Wouldn't you love to know the colors she used. Some people just have an eye for color....not me!!!
