Oh My My Memory I Think I lost It????

I lost my memory,I am on dialysis,I need a kidney,I think they are washing it down the drain,I put a pumpkin pie in the oven last nite at 6 can you guess what time I remembered it?????would you believe 10 pm !!!!!!!!!!oh my.

I guess it was baked by then!!

We've all done that to some food at some time or other - too many things on our minds.

Don't give it a second thought.

Gotta buy this girl a kitchen timer -- but then you have to remember to turn it on.

Dialysis must be quite a drain. My XH goes three times a week and also is waiting for a kidney. I kind of feel bad for him. Kind of.

I hope that kidney comes along soon.

We all do things like that. I do!

hi sandy! i totally feel your "pain." frost is a marbled bengal. my late sarge was also. high energy cats! you can occasionally find one with personality quirks that some people can't deal with (ie, preferring to use water sources for bathroom duties). generation could make the difference between not a lap cat and a lap cat. sarge was a total lover and glued to me at all times. frost refuses to be picked up but you better sit down and pay attention to her when she tells you! she is very vocal while sarge was only vocal when i went to bed or was gone. he carried my red sock around in his mouth and mrawed awhile. there are a lot of bengals in rescues just like other purebreds, as well as retired breeders. from the bengal rescue website: "Often, people want a Bengal solely because of its exotic looks, not aware that its active and dominating personality could be completely opposite from what they want!" active and dominating? oh yeah! sarge made my old man's life miserable, poor old guy was always on edge. frost drove him insane wanting attention and when he wouldn't give it to her, she would attack him. sarge and frost had a remarkable bond, however. rescue for our region is http://www.greatlakesbengalrescue.com/ i want to be a foster so bad, but dh has a problem with that. THANK YOU everyone who suggested watering my plant. It was dehydrated! I didn't want to reveal at first that I had lopped off the claws to see if it was rotting inside - but I did *gasp!* So, now it's not as pretty as it was, but I can see new growth coming! Oh I am so so excited. It's still not leaking sap when I poke it, but it's not dead! I'll post some pictures later if you promise not to be disappointed that I cut the top off :-D Sam

Per one of the plant answer people at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center, they don't like the heavy clay soil we have, not in the winter when it stays damp. I lost all of mine this winter and need to figure out how to amend the soil in that area so that they'll overwinter properly. They're fine through the summer and fall, but once winter comes...I guess the ground just stays too wet for them to handle. I'm not sure how, since I didn't water and all they got was rain, but they WERE at the bottom of a slight hill, at the edge of the sidewalk. I'm going to blame the December ice storm. :(

If you're thinking Arts & Crafts bungalow, you can always look to some of the originals, many of which now have painted trims (though honestly I *wish* more of them still had their original stained trim, ours included!) It was also very common to paint trim and cabinetry (and thus use "lower grade" wood, which in those days meant redwood or fir instead of oak) in the kitchen, bath, and bedrooms and have stained trim and casework in the dining and living rooms, and that worked fine. That might be a way to manage costs while still getting the look you love. And I've seen some gorgeous kitchen remodels using cherry or fir cabinets with painted white trim and white built-ins that mix it up a bit in houses where the trim had already been painted but people didn't want white kitchens (and didn't want the cost of replacing original trim!) Fir in particular is one of my faves with soapstone, though it is a soft wood so it will ding. We also have a painted gray and white kitchen, which mixes it up a bit in a different way. There's no rule that painted cabs must be white---and honestly, a lot of the reason that listings for houses of that age have painted cabinets (especially white) is that it's a very easy way to clean up and "modernize" older cabinets for resale. (At least, that happens a lot where we live---people paint and put on new counters to sell an older kitchen.) Some of those were probably put in as stained kitchens, but had woods that aren't "trendy" these days and thus dated the kitchens. I love our painted kitchen, but if we'd had the resources, we would have seriously considered QS oak or fir (even the fir was far more costly than our paint-grade poplar). I'd be sure you're okay with the tradeoff before switching gears.

I have 5 timers, one on the microwave, on the oven, two magnetic ones that I can carry around with me, and my iPhone. I discovered that I really couldn't hear the timers in the kitchen very well if I wasn't there. So now I carry one with me whenever I'm cooking.

I think we've all been there. I once poured a cup of coffee, turned around and put it into the refrigerator and walked away. I spent about 15 minutes looking for my coffee cup to get a cup of coffee before my secretary finally cracked up and told me what I'd done.

I know you've been waiting for that kidney, I hope it happens soon.

I bet the pie was tasty. And who said that 10 was not the time to take the pie out of the oven? Nobody. You took it out before you went to bed, so that's good. You have some other stuff on your mind, Bulldinkie.

I almost posted a few weeks ago, "what dumb thing did you do today?". I had a years worth of oddities in one day trying to multi-task. Fortunately i checked all pockets before doing laundry...2 dozen cherry tomatoes, half a chocolate bar, tape, scissors....one milk dud, lol.
Always loosing coffee cups...
I think one of the worst was leaving for a long weekend and DH left the front door open.
A few birds moved in and shat everywhere. We now double check and again when we leave even for work. Think, check, and check again. (i printed out a check list by the downstairs exit door)
Add to daily life a medical issue and i do understand how difficult that would be. When we are stressed from work and not so young anymore, we just slow down and use our cell phone timers...

crisp & black..I had a nice timer it fell in sink of water, that was it.killed it..but sometimes I don't hear timer go off.
dedtired ,how long has your hubby been on dialysis?Im going on 6 1/2 years.3 days a week,oh my..

I put a rack of ribs and a small chicken in my good roasting pan and put all on the grill about 3 pm. I remembered it about 11 pm. Talk about a crispy critter! And I have absolutely no good reason for having forgotten about it.

Bless your heart!

I was going to roast some eggplant. The only problem was I put the oven on broil instead of 400 degrees.

I was so good & remembered to set the alarm on my cell phone so I wouldn't forget.

Went back to a smoky kitchen and VERY crispy black BLACK eggplant.

Also baked an organically grown chicken so I could make broth. Stuck it in fridge & after a very busy week ended up having to throw it away because it was too old to make broth.

Made me want to cry!

Bulldinkie, at least you have a valid reason for being distracted. I hope the best for you.

As a get-together gift Peppi gave each of us a timer on a rope. Great item, been using it for years.
