White kitchen cabinet paint and trim paint - need help
Comments (1)I love BM Simply White. I'm using it now on my exterior trim and will use it on all my interior trim as well. It's a nice, bright warm white. Regarding the sheen, BM paints (IMHO) seem to be shinier than other paints I've used. The "low luster" exterior that I'm using now actually has quite a bit of luster! I used the exterior "soft gloss/satin" on my front door and it actually looks more like a semi-gloss to me ... it's quite shiny. Personally, I would not want semi-gloss on my cabinets and would want something less shiny and reflective. While I might go with the painter's suggestion regarding the brand of paint to use (maybe he has better results with one over the other), I would want to choose the finish myself after looking at the different sheen levels on actual wood. samples. They had those at my BM dealer and they actually painted a couple of wood samples for me to bring home....See MoreNeed Color Cabinet Help Quickly! Painters are here!
Comments (2)Send the painters away and select your granite first, and then bring home paint swatches to see how they look in the space. There is no one color that works and looks the same in every setting. Your granite is the bigger, more permanent decision, and should come first....See MoreHelp from Painters... what questions to ask of cabinet painter
Comments (0)I found someone who will spray my kitchen cabinets. What are the right questions to ask to end up with a good result. I'll be painting cherry stained maple cabinets a white or off white color. He already told me he does 3 coats. 1 oil base primer and 2 top coats of oil base paint. Comments (19)Ellie, your new home is lovely. I looked into painting my current kitchen and pretty much what Live_oak_writes is what I found to be true in terms of prep, cost and quality. The guy I found here in Michigan ONLY paints cabinets and that is the kind of painter I would suggest or a cabinet shop. I am not trying to criticize house painters, but I would only want someone who specializes in cabinets (not a painter of rooms, exteriors, etc). He told me he would remove all the doors and spray in his shop (after sanding, filling in holes, etc.). The boxes would have to be sprayed on-site of course and you need to verify their prep for that. He was willing to paint a sample door for me (find an old maple door at Habitat, etc. and have them use that as a test). I liked what I saw. His Facebook page was impressive. My kitchen is not as nice as yours and I determined it just was not worth it. I recall a thread here recently in which someone painted professionally and it was absolutely wonderful. I am not as good as others at finding pictures/threads, but I will look....See Moremarcolo
