Granddaughter's getting married

The wedding is April 2 and I need advice. Now I've known about this for over a year so you'd think I'd have it figured out by now (and also shed that 20 lbs. I need to lose). My problem is shoes. It's an afternoon wedding and they're having it here in Florida even though they live in California. DGD said she wanted it here because all her grandmothers live here. She's sweet that way.

Anyway, it's kind of "afternoon fancy dress" wedding. I ordered two dresses. One came yesterday and it's a plum-colored "tent" type dress with a short jacket. The dress is made in vertical panels with every other one kind of sparkly--but not too gawdy, hard to explain.

The other dress is on it's way. It's navy blue and also has a bolero and the skirt is tiered. Know what I mean? Both dresses are sleeveless with wide straps, so that jacket has to stay on :-)

One dress I'll wear and the other I'll send back. But what color shoes should I wear?? I'm thinking silver strappy but what do you think? Too much?

I would tend to wear black with plum, and navy with navy but I think silver would be fine too. What color bag do plan on using?

something comfortable and as flat as possible...we did a destination wedding in fl and lucky me, went shoeless while on the tiny beach..so did dd, the bride...later sandals...it was hot for we michganders (month of may) i'd never been able to wear shoes!

as to the dresses...which one will you wear again?? i have 3 wedding outfits i've never worn again, sigh!

Thanks for looking. She has always thought she could do anything. When she was about five, she came running into the house and said, "I'm going to learn to play basketball"!. My first thought was oh no your not, as the net hangs over the street. But on second thought, I said, ok, let's go out there. Of course I was near her at all times. At my 2nd son's wedding she came over to me and said, "Grammaw, no one will dance with me". She was 6 yrs old. A family friend got up and asked her to dance, she was so pleased. And now she has her own dancing partner. He is a nice young man. Last year when I was so sick, he was the one pushing the wheelchair in and out of the different doctors offices.

Congratulations. My daughter is also getting married but she is getting married in June 2012. I'll be interested to find out what you do. We have no real ideas so thought we'd go to a bridal show (there's on this weekend in our area). We really don't know where to start. Hope you have fun planning the big day and managae to stay within your budget. Keep us posted.

It sounds fine to me, but if I were you, I'd describe the outfit to the bride or her mother, or the groom's mother, if you are on the groom's side, and ask if it's a good choice. I'm sure it's fine, but you will be more relaxed if you aren't worrying that you might feel underdressed.

Hi, Charity. If your heart is cold for your husband, I disagree that your marriage is intact. You may still be married, but it's not what marriage is supposed to be. Of course, swinging isn't supposed to be a part of marriage, either, if you believe in the traditional marriage vows (forsaking all others), but I realize that you don't. For me, and I realize not for you, living with someone for whom I have a cold heart just isn't a good, fulfilling life. You and he are getting your sexual kicks otherwise, but if you're getting your emotional needs met outside of the marriage, why don't you just divorce? What in the world is the benefit to anyone of staying married? NOT trying to demean or start an argument. It's just that your way of living and values are apparently so opposite of mine that I'm intrigued. I get my sexual kicks and my emotional and companion needs met by my husband and realize that I am very, very fortunate.

Well there's a lot of silver and gold shoes seen in and around FL, Floridians wear them with shorts or pants even at the supermarket...especially who are not born and raised in Florida..but truthfully, I'd wear something else.........Navy of course with the Navy and I'd find one of the mauvy or whitish/pinkish pearls that will go with the other..If you could find a matchy matchy that would be good ....but silver or gold is so yucky/tacky in my opinion and especially for afternoon.....Id do something that I could also wear afterward.......

Congratulations to your family on the upcoming wedding.

As for the dresses, choose the one you feel fits you best and is most comfortable and flattering. For the plum one, what about grey or taupe shoes? I think black would stand out too much unless the plum is very dark, and I don't like white shoes but that's just me. What kind of shoe are you thinking of? Low or high, sandal or enclosed? There are some great online shoe sites like zappos or shoebuy, and even if you don't buy there (although I think they both have free shipping both ways), you might get some ideas browsing online.
