We dodged the bullet on this storm. As of Sat night, they were calling for 8-16" with ice. We had a couple flurries mixed with rain drops about 1:30 yesterday afternoon and that was it! It stopped.

Daughter lives in Baltimore and said they got pounded. Son lives in DE, says they have a little and it's calling for it to pick up later. (hopefully not)

Yep katlan, it's picking up here in DE. Calling for 5 to 8 inches before we're through.

Fiona, I'm in Fairmont Wv, where are you? We got about 5 inches here, clear now.

Here in central Virginia it was supposed to rain, then ice, then sleet then snow, with 6 to 9 inches of snow. It rained most of the night but seems to have switched directly to snow, so while it seems we won't get the ice and sleet, it will likely result in more snow accumulation (In fact the weather guy just came on and said that now 6 to 12 inches are expected)

All of the local schools are closed, many businesses, and even the University too. So I get a day off. yay. Although i'd rather this winter just end already.

They had called for somewhere around 6 to 8 inches here in Indiana. We only got a couple so we are happy. In the southern part they got more plus ice. I know we are all going to welcome Spring with a huge celebration!! Every day it gets closer..

We have about 6 inches of snow so far. It has stopped for the moment but radar says more on the way. I'm in Yellow Spring a very small community near Winchester Va.

We got about 10 inches (North Idaho). Supposed to dip to below zero temps again. I will most certainly be welcoming spring with open arms this year. I swear, the older I get, the longer winter seems to last.

We are getting it now. I didn't think it would stick on the ground because it was 70 yesterday. What a difference a day makes! We have about an inch right now and it's still coming down.

We were predicted to get 10 inches but the storm went on a more southerly route and we only got about three inches of powdery stuff. Saved me from paying the snowplow guy because I could shovel this one myself. I sitting on the sofa recovering from the shoveling right now and I still have to do the front walk. The township snowplow pushed a huge boulder of ice in front of my drive, left from all the previous storms.I had to shove that with my foot and the shovel to get it to the side.

I am so over this winter. Bring on spring!

Got two or three inches a couple of days ago but blew so that it was a bit heavy getting out the lane and back yesterday: not too worrisome until the bottom of the car leaves tracks in the snowbanks. Then got two or three inches on the level, but less blow so it's just sitting there, showing tracks as we drive through it.

But it's been down near zero F., somewhat more with a good shot of wind behind it.

Looking after my friend's short-haired but fast-moving female canine means that she's only out for about 5 minutes without a coat, or maybe 15 min. with it, and she's pleased to come into the warm kitchen.

Sounds as though it's about to be a rather coolish, perhaps windy March.

Think I'll hibernate.

Oh, yeah - I guess that I'd better ... get busy, as a goodly portion of my chorses that'd been saved up for winter, including repairs to gardening clothing ... haven't been done (or much more than started).

We've had two days and nights of rain on Maui; clearing now. Today we're to fly Maui-Honolulu-Dallas-Chicago. We arrive Chicago Tuesday morning -- maybe. Dallas was closed due to weather recently. That storm has moved on, but ya' never know what will happen in Chicago.

I've spent my rainy days packing up the condo and trying to spare the cleaner extra work. Repeat guests come in Tuesday evening for a six week stay. Next year they are trying Arizona.

Fiona, I'm just up I-81 from you, a little north of Martinsburg. We got only about three inches, but the temp is dropping fast--at 9:43 p.m. it's 11.3 degrees. B-r-r-r-r!

Worse than the snow is the ice that is the under layer; one needs to be VERY careful, if venturing out of doors.

My daughter-in-law is from Martinsburg. Been there many times! 4 degrees this morning. I'm hearing on the local weather report it will be in the upper 50's by the weekend! Thats great news!!

Fiona and mwheel - we should get together sometime for lunch (when the weather behaves). I'm in Front Royal...about 20 miles south of Winchester. We could all meet in Winchester.

We ended up getting only about 5" of snow, instead of the 6 - 12" they predicted, but this morning the temperature was 1 deg F which would make it the coldest day in March in recorded history (dating back to the 1880's)

Before the storm my wife moved my car to the end of the driveway, in case we got 12" and could get out. As the snow was ending around 3 P.M. yesterday and is was clear that we were only getting 4-5" she moved the car back to the garage. However the door locks were frozen so she had to crawl in through the hatchback. It the process she must have knocked small chunks of snow off her boots onto the passenger seat, because they were still sitting there unmelted this morning.

I think we are up into the 20s today. When my Lab, Cooper, went out he stayed out for at least 15 minutes and was sunning himself on my snow covered driveway. Next Monday it is supposed to be 50 here! I can't wait to get on my bicycle and also to go for long walks with Cooper.

Wanda, when it warms up, lunch sounds like fun to me. It would be nice to put faces with names.

If I could choose between a foot of snow and 20 below zero, I'll take the snow. I'm so lucky, I got both. But I'm happy there wasn't any wind to speak of this time. I almost cried when I heard we're probably going to get 6 new inches over night. It actually melted on the south side of the house today and the streets were wet. Start all over tomorrow. I am really worried about the melting part. I always get so much run off that I'm afraid my house will flood but this year it will be even more scary with all the snow everywhere. If any of you are driving to MN don't tune into the Des Moines tv station and watch their live weather reports. As they're standing out in the highway showing you how lucky D.M. was to have "escaped the brunt of the storm" realize it doesn't look like that everywhere in Iowa. In my neck of the woods you probably can't see your hand in front of your face and the ditches are getting crowded.

wanda, i may take you up on that in the late fall. we have a produce market so spring and summer is going to be super busy. we grow lots of our own produce and buy some at produce auctions. we go to skyline drive in your territory about twice a year. its my favorite place in the world.

Fiona, I just posted on your other post (hadn't seen this). I may have to come visit your produce market this summer--we love fresh produce.

We live exactly 5 miles from the entrance to Skyline Drive, so you go within a stone's throw of our house to get there.
