New Doc Martin!

I chanced upon a new one (after baby) tonight which is part of a pledge night. What fun! I won't say more but I do hope they will continue with another season.

It's funny...when I first saw the show I didn't like his gruff persona or the way he didn't want the dog around.....then I saw an interview with the actor, he was warm and loved animals...he was just playing a part...once I realized it was only a role I understood how well he played it. Now I enjoy the show.

Yes we do have to contend with PBS funding ( and really, you can do that by buying a CD for yourself or someone) Double bonus that way. Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) has had to work hard at pitching his ideas. He has had a stop and start career but we can say "huzzah" to him for his persistance because his talent and writing have saved him. DH and I have enjoyed so many UK series. Our library has almost everything we wanted on DVD. I can't even remember what season we're on with "New Tricks". If you like "Doc", you might like "Reggie Perrin" (with Martin Clunes). I've enjoyed the "Downton Abbey" series. However, we just watched Season Two, Episode 6, and I'm sorry to say it is starting to feel like a daytime soap. Our spinal-injury hero is evidently about to regain use of his 'nether parts', and we've had a case of *amnesia* in the plot. Oh, puhleese! This isn't up to the high standard of the story line thus far -- although The Lady and the Chauffeur is a trite cliche.

Thanks to everyone for posting! It's been very helpful. I bought some seeds of the Red var. of it and will see how it grows in Washington DC. PS: I am maple_man, (since 2003 i think) but houzz will not let me use it now, so had to change it to maple5man! also tried maple5man(maple_man) but it did not like that ether! Could not access my profile, was forced to make a new one. I am very unhappy!!! Definitely going to miss the old site.

have been old singers, I think.

I've been trying to watch him in "William and Mary", but don't think I'll get the whole series.....too hard to understand with my hearing loss and no subtitles. I'm anxious to see the Doc Martin series.

I've enjoyed Doc Martin and will watch for it.

Phyllis, as for William and Mary, in my opinion Mary is too mad all the time. Seriously, who needs that? I like the rest of the story--his job, the kids, her mother, etc.--but she's just too unpleasant, often cross and yelling. (Hope I didn't spoil it for anyone.) So maybe you wouldn't like it if you could understand, Phyllis.

LOL I kind of liked William and Mary - not as well
as Doc Martin though. If I had to live with an ex,
kids, mother, etc., like Mary has I'd be yelling
most of the time too. LOL Her Mother alone would
drive me up the wall. A Ditz!!!!!

But...I do know what you mean.
