Isn't that the truth. I was just raving about that show to my best friend last evening. She doesn't have Netflix. I was encouraging her to get the free trial, if for no other reason than Doc Martin.

DH and I have enjoyed so many UK series. Our library has almost everything we wanted on DVD. I can't even remember what season we're on with "New Tricks". If you like "Doc", you might like "Reggie Perrin" (with Martin Clunes). I've enjoyed the "Downton Abbey" series. However, we just watched Season Two, Episode 6, and I'm sorry to say it is starting to feel like a daytime soap. Our spinal-injury hero is evidently about to regain use of his 'nether parts', and we've had a case of *amnesia* in the plot. Oh, puhleese! This isn't up to the high standard of the story line thus far -- although The Lady and the Chauffeur is a trite cliche.

Great. I'll have to check for it. I just started watching William and Mary. Martin Clunes is William, an undertaker who is a widower with 2 daughters. Mary is a midwife with 2 sons. They meet in the first episode through a dating service and then the dating and fun begins along with a wealth of misunderstandings, complications, and humor. It was filmed in 2003. I saw him in another pbs series, he is playing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I had to look twice to make sure it was him lol. He really looks different in that. I liked the Doc Martin series for a while then lost interest in it....I'm not sure why...but I thought about the boots first too when I read the title *snork. :)

I keep having shows presented as a series get by me also. Often something recently encountered will not be new. Although sometimes the broadcasting of it is a debut even though it dates from a few years back. And they keep showing old episodes out of sequence - the last time I watched Doc Martin it was likewise from the time when the couple was living apart.

I have season 5 on my queue in Netflix. They say it will be available some time in June 2012. So, it should show up soon, I hope.

I wasn't aware of "Doc Martin" until an earlier thread when so many of you enthused about it (thank you!). Had never even heard of it.

I've since begun watching it from the beginning, enjoying a show whenever the TV mood strikes me. I watch it via Infinity (Comcast) on my computer.

I'm not nearly as far along as Pam, however. Just through Season 2, Episode 4 so I have quite a few episodes yet to enjoy before I'm current.

Season 5 is available on DVD as of March. My local PBS station in Dallas started showing season five on May 5.

One learns something new most every day - when one keeps one's eyes and ears at least half way open.

Here - I've been thinking that Doc. Martin ...

We're looking forward to Season 5 too.

Just watched one and a half programs of "William & Mary". Blah. Although, it was interesting to see Clunes as a patient, 'connected' person! LOL
