Turning a reciept into a gift-- Help!

I don't know if I have the right forum for this, but it seemed more logical than the others, so here goes...I hope there are some creative minds here that will help me out!

My husband remembers the day/date of our first date and has commented several times over the years how special that day was/is to him. He's even talked of getting a personalized licence plate with the date on it. (awwwww)

We've been married almost 5 yrs now, going about 8 since that first date. The other day I came across the make-shift memory box I threw together years ago. It was in a drawer I rarely get into and it's been a few years since I looked so I decided to take a little trip down memory lane. Inside I found the "customer copy" of the reciept of when he took me to dinner that first date. He must have slipped it in there way back when and I had forgotten it was there. I ran across it once before and wondered what I could do with it to turn it into something to display. A gift to him. Something for his desk maybe..or night stand. I try to get him something sentimental but after awhile, you just run out of ideas!

Anyway, I swear I asked on one of these boards before but never recall getting any responses (I might be dreaming that though!) So here I am at Christmas and at a loss for the "something sentimental". Any ideas?

It's just a small register receipt, maybe 3" tall...I think it might even be the yellow carbon copy.. I've thought of a simple mat and frame but that's obvious and I was hoping there maybe something more creative...I'm just not very good in that area. I wanted it to be special. I had a friend one time take one of my baby photos and have it etched in metal of some sort, That was so many years ago, but I still have it and look at it fondly and remember him (I havent seen him in about 20 years now, but that gift keeps on giving!)..I wonder if that can be done with the receipt... Hmmmmm

Anyway, any ideas are appreciated! TIA!!

I think if it were me I would turn it into a key chain.
This seller on ETSY is really good. A friend sent her a picture of my grandson and she turned it into a keychain and it is just beautiful.
She probably could scan the receipt and do something like this with it.

You can do it yourself.
You need a domino and then scan you image.
Size it in a card program
Print it on tissue paper (to run through the printer you must tape the tissue paper to cardstock)
Spray with a krylon clear spray (to keep the ink from running)
cut out your image and adhear with mod podge -several coat.
Before you start-drill a hole and put in your pin at the end to attach to a key ring.

Hi - your tree may be gone from all that watering. Tags are notoriously one size fits all and they should be thrown away (whatever the plant name printed on them). You haven't said if there's a layer of glued on rocks on top of the soil (it should have been pried off day one), or if the mix is obviously mostly grit, or more regular looking brown soil (which is the other half of the mistake with most inexpensive store bought bonsai), because it's usually 'potting soil' and full of water holding peat, guaranteed to rot roots. You should (though had no way of knowing - which is why bonsai should never be gifts unless the giftee is already knowledgable) have repotted into an almost completely grit mix with some pine or fir bark mulch but no potting soil, which would let water run right through the mix without damaging anything, only allowing a 'drink' to all roots - and always water from on top with any trees - they're NOT African violets! Plus regular house plant fertilizer can be used, regular strength, except from late summer through fall, when a very low nitrogen type is needed. Anyhow, once a juniper's foliage is mostly brittle (and brown) it's usually long gone - different from if only one branch is a problem, so you'll have to judge that.

We had the same problem for years. We have a group of seven couples (all close in age). We would take trips together once every year or so but during the year we would take turns hosting a monthly dinner. Of course this always necessitated a hostess gift. All of us are comfortably off and at our age have everything (material) that we want or need. It drove me crazy because I was constantly being gifted with craft type items. I am just not into cutesy things and I had a difficult time coming up with items that I thought the other ladies would enjoy or use. I failingly ended up giving food items or fresh flowers. We all finally came to a consensus that we should stop doing hostess gifts and at Christmas put funds together to donate to a charity. Thank goodness! The pressure every month is off and we can give to those in need. It's a win/win.

My son got his pilot's license as a senior in HS, and lessons were $225/hr, both in CT and near our summer house in Maine. (That is also what they charge for an introductory flight) He is looking to go to the next level and get his license for instrument flying; given how many hours or lessons one needs, he'd probably switch if he could fly for half; if you don't mind can you message me with the place you found? It seems unlikely, that if the book was given to you by someone else, even if it _was_ the Library’s copy, that they would be asking _you_ to return it rather than its original borrower, who would be the person who gave it to you. If it was the Library’s book, they would be hassling _him_ to return it, not you. Even if he said, “Oh, I gave it to Skibby,” I would expect them to say, “That’s not our concern, _you_ borrowed it, _you_ get it back.” So I don’t think it’s the Library’s book. I do think that somehow they’ve screwed up their records and not recorded that you returned the copy you borrowed, and possibly also not recorded who has subsequently borrowed it and not returned it. I’d get in touch with them again and reiterate that you’ve returned the book, you’ve been told you have no outstanding items and they need to get off your case and start looking in other places for the book, if indeed it’s actually missing- they may not have looked on the shelf but just assumed that if the computer lists it as having been borrowed and not yet returned, then it’s not on the shelf.

What a cute idea, and it looks like she does a wonderful job ~ (thanks too for the instructions Connie...I appreciate it but I don't have the supplies on hand and sadly,I lack talent!) I bet your instructions will help someone though!

I'm not sure he would "use" a keychain and she isn't doing anything custom until after Christmas anyway... I could save the idea for an anniversary of that date and think of something else she could make out of it. Oh, I wonder if my local Craft Warehouse or Michaels does anything like that.....?

I wish I had seen this before....I think it would be awesome to make it into an ornament...copy it, print it onto a transparency, and roll it up and stick it in a clear glass ball
