Thanks for the info Isbellpro, but unfortunately that didn't help. We have found a way to make it work. Select the samllest hoop size (100 x 100) and then load the desired patterns. Write the patterns to the card and then use the card in the embroidery machine (Brother PR190D in our case). If a larger hoop size is used (say 130 x 180 which we have) then the process does not work and we get the message "This card cannot work. Turn off power and change to embroidery card. " I assume the real problem, in our case at least, is that the pattern is enlarged by the PED-Basic software depending on the hoop size specified, and that the pattern becomes too big to load into the machine OR the PED Basic s/w genertes erors in the pattern file for a 130 x 180 hoop size. So... we are now going fine. It would be really nice if Brother would 1) acknowlwdge this problem, 2) put information in the brother web site FAQs about it and how to work around. 3) put a meaningful error message on the embroidery machine 4) fix the PED Basic s/w Let's see what happens.

I never "got" the point of spending money on gag gifts... I always try to get people something they can use or something they like or something they can *do*. Take photos & put in a scrapbook. Get photos from his family & make a scrapbook. If he reads, get a nice reading lamp with a fluorescent or soft white bulb & maybe a magnifier, like the lamps cross-stitchers use. big can (do we still call them cans now that they're plastic?) of his favorite coffee. renew his fishing license for him. subscription to National Geographic or other magazine. Give him a squeeze from his Kitchen Table nieces!

Alrighty! *S* The card was made using a sheet from a wallpaper sample book (neat idea,huh?) and this is the front of it. This is the inside with the page from a Hymnal. In all honesty, I think I could have done better, but it DID give me some ideas!*S* Funny think is, I don't have a clue who the person is that sent it! lol She signed her name and initals under it! Took me a bit to figure THAT out..but it's the Church where Ronnie and I got married. Uh...I haven't attended that Church in over 40yrs!

A new memory card to be used in a camera should always be formatted in the camera before its first use. However, unlike IowaGirl's standard practice, you shouldn't reformat it every time you reinsert the card into the same camera. You will only shorten its life that way. A card, generally speaking, can only be reformatted a certain number of times. The better quality card can be reformatted more times than a lesser quality card, but, nonetheless, it will reach the end of its "formattable life" sooner or later -- sooner if you reformat a lot. And there's really no reason to reformat it unless it's acting up. Many memory cards intended for use in cameras come with free image recovery software. When you delete a picture (or a data file), it is still recoverable as long as it hasn't become corrupted. When you delete something, it's not really removed from the card/disk/hard drive. All that happens is that a command is given that the area of the media that was used to store that image/file is now available to be used for something else to be saved. And there is more sophisticated software available that can recover images/data files even after something new has been saved over it -- that's what happens, for example, when forensic teams work with hard drives when crimes are committed.
