The first thing I notice is that you're growing your pumpkins in a field of thick weeds and grass. That's not necessarily too bad as long as you have a large cultivated area at the main stem for them to draw from, but I don't see that either. Basically, your pumpkins are competing for survival with some very fierce competitors. This is a fight you won't win. I also see some powdery white spotting which is Powdery Mildew, a natural enemy of squashes but generally only a problem for weakened plants. A few fertilizers spread the base is not what your pumpkins need. They need room to spread their roots. I would suggest a deeply cultivated and composted 4' x 4' weed-free area to start each pumpkin. And that's the minimum. The more area of moist, fertile soil they have to spread across, the better off they will be. Additionally, you may or may not be having problems with Squash Vine Borers (SVB). I don't have those where I live and know little about them. But from what I understand they are *very* nasty and hard to avoid. You may want to research that a bit.

The problem here is light output! What you have now does an amazing job of lighting the room as a whole. The second issue will be the discoloration, marks from where the old light was, the ceiling paint may no longer match or the popcorn ceiling may be damaged or hold the shape of the existing light. The third issue will be where the power source actually is, because the light is centered does not mean electrical actually is. I would start with removing the current fixture to see what you are working with in terms of ceiling repair and outlet placement. Then I would probably move to a multi-head directional light. I would go with cal lighting serpentine light, it comes in several finishes with lots of glass options as well. But if you want one light, open top with at least three sockets so the light can still spread around the room. Bear in mind some things "look nice" but will not give you quality lighting for a kitchen.

This is not a technical issue that needs to be perfect, like kitchen or bathroom scale and design, flooring measurements, etc. It’s subjective. Opinion. Yours, mine, everyone’s. There’s no right or wrong here, the OP would like a mirror there instead of art, which they already have. The fireplace has plenty of texture, I just think a large piece of art is much more distracting and not well-balanced. If they decide against a mirror, the art they have looks fine. Decorative mirrors are art, too. They add light, dimension, can have lovely and interesting frames. I don’t think you personally don’t like them, but plenty of posters here do, and base that on always trying to talk someone out of using one. One pro repetitively says mirrors only belong in bathrooms. I agree with you about the possibility of glare, that’s a good point for the OP to consider. I had a similar situation with a pretty mirror in my living room (former house), across from a wall of windows, and didn’t ever have any issues with glaring … but of course can’t tell if the OP’s room would. I’m glad you brought that up. ETA: I think these boards can be extremely myopic regarding common decorating issues, this is one of them. There are so many possibilities in the great big design world, but most OPs are given rote and sometimes biased advice, no matter the situation. (I’m not saying you do that, you don’t, just speaking in general.)
