They were announcing this last week in the blurb above the header lists (the one you can click to "collapse").
However, it's interesting that you are now seeing them because I'm not.
A few years ago, these hyperlinked keywords would show up on other websites, but not here to my knowledge.
I use firefox and have ad-block plus installed.

Thanks, Casey! I wasn't paying attention and missed the announcement. You can follow the "new advertisements" link on the kitchens forum home page to disable the popups. Which I did. Life is better. :^)

And I'm on Safari and had "block popups" enabled. Don't know why I was seeing them.

You have to click the Vibrant Opt Out link to disable them at their site. I don't see them on the Gardenweb, but I do get them on other sites.

Pickle, Firefox is free. If you keep having trouble you could try it. :)

I was wondering if they had started yet. I use Firefox with the "Ad Block Plus" add-in and have not seen them. Nor do I see any other advertising on this site.

pickle, Safari is my preferred browser b/c it is the quickest on my computer. I added freeware Safariblock and have been mostly happy with it. I do have to disable it to view certain things in my e-mail accounts.

Thanks for the browser tips. I'll check out the Safariblock. I also have Firefox on my mac, but started using Safari when Firefox started barfing with certain sites. I wonder how many people actually click through those embedded links on purpose versus just being annoyed.

Good question! I've always wondered about annoying ads. It turns me off to the advertiser. Whereas low key, context sensitive ads are useful enough that I tend to notice and pay attention to them. When the ads are so annoying that people find ways to get rid of all advertising I don't know how that benefits the advertisers.

Pickle, interesting about the Firefox barf. It adheres best to the international conventions and standards, so I wonder if it's MS or Apple or some other big honcho's ware that those sites are constructed for.

BTW, I've found that if a page is taking too long to load, it will usually come right up if I back arrow then front arrow. I don't know if it's hanging up on the advertisers or if it's something on my own system, but it works.
