need a color to replace lowes rock candy

My living room and dining room are painted Rocky Candy - Valspar from Lowes. Their new paint and primer cannot match the color and they keep coming up with yellow. I need help with replacing the color to paint a two story foyer and kitchen to match the liv rm and din rm. Rock Candy looks yellow in the can but goes on more like a light butterscotch color - very hard to describe. Maybe in the gold family? I have tried several BM colors - Golden Honey, Golden Straw, Country Comfort = everything is either too yellow or has too much orange in it....any suggestions??

Couple thoughts -

I don't understand why they can't match it. Have to assume there isn't a chip. Because whether the formula/colorants changed or not, someone could custom match to the chip.

If you don't have a chip from the store, you could also paint-out your own chip using leftover paint if you have any.

Chip from the store or a hand-painted sample - either way - you could take it to any paint store and using the chip/sample they could custom mix the color.

And if you don't have chip/sample, you can still go to another brand/store and have them mix the color using their database of other paint brand's formulas.

Lastly, could order a sample can from My Perfect Color and do any number of things. Paint out the sample and take it to have it matched, ask MPC to be sure to include the formula so you can take it to a BenM store, or just get the sample, test it and if it's right order directly from MPC.

Bottom line is just because one Lowe's store can't mix Rock Candy doesn't mean no one can.

If the tree is healthy, it will grow normally, and the growth will be primarily upward, since that's what trees do. With healthy plants, a universal result of pruning is growth returned elsewhere. It is usually in the 50%+ range of the amount that has been removed. Naturally, because of the vast range of plant varieties and local conditions, there is no possible way to predict anyone's exact result. One must act on what is reasonable for the situation one has. One of my little trees with foliage to the ground, was 6' height at the beginning of last year. We had rain and I watered and fertilized it. At the end of the year is was 12' height. This spring, I removed EVERY SINGLE LIMB that existed the previous spring, leaving only what had grown during the latter part of last year. I was limbing it up to half its height in order to stimulate more growth on top, and to allow more light to reach the groundcover growing below it.

Remove the rock and landscape fabric and put down a good layer of arborist’s chipped trimmings or gorilla hair mulch, both of which are highly texturized and should stay well on the slope. Then when it’s time to plant, pull aside the mulch and plant. It will take time for groundcovers to cover and hold soil well, so you need something covering the soil while plants fill in, but I guarantee landscape fabric isn’t it. As you’ve noticed, it doesn’t prevent weeds, and without a covering, it breaks down in sunlight. It also interferes with plant growth because it interferes with the exchange of air, water and nutrients with the soil, so IMO, the only place landscape fabric belongs is somewhere like under a masonry path. Trying to remove it after planting will be far more difficult than doing it sooner. I have used daylilies in an area where the bed isn’t visible in winter, but having mostly evergreen shrubs like those suggested above will work better in such an exposed spot at the front of the house. Adding some smaller areas of flowering plants may work if you want a more varied look. I still have to weed my slope a couple of times a year.

Bathroom vanity too low. Replace top+vessel sink or entire vanity?

Seems to me that with new counter & vessel sink the only thing significantly raised is the bottom of the sink. You’ll also have to do some plumbing modifications to add under sink piping & of course now there’s a problem with either where backsplash was with the old counter or with the mirror which starts at backsplash height. Of course you’ll also need new faucets. It’ll be like pulling a thread. Do you like vessel sinks? They‘re decorative & generally a lot more costly than a bathroom sink which you can get for less than $100. If you already know it’s hard to find a 40” counter (I don’t know that), then how about get a new counter, you can get a quartz or granite remnant from a stone fabricator, get an undermount sink to maximize counter space, and have the vanity built up from the bottom. I know that can be done - a frame built to raise the vanity. Check out having vanity professionally refinished to clean up the oak - or professionally painted if you want to change color. Can’t say how much this will cost but how long will you be in this house & how much inconvenience is the too low vanity for the people using it every day? That will tell you if it’s worth it. It’s also a value add improvement to house.

funcolors - thank you for responding! I did bring the can in to Lowes, SW and BM. There was probably 1/4 can of paint left. Although it is 2 years old, the can has been kept indoors and held up nicely. I even used some of the paint to paint over scuff marks, etc. and it still matched perfectly. Not one of those three stores could match it because the color is no longer carried by lowes in their database. They were trying to match it by color alone - there was plenty in the can for them to make samples with it. We have literally had 15+ samples made and either too yellow or too much orange. It has been soo frustrating and exhausting on top of expensive since I have paid for most of these samples. I will contact MPC - it will be my last shot and I appreciate the help!
