When we were in girls scouts we made personal first aid kits in a film canister. We put needle and thread and a bandaid and I am not sure what else. We then heard that film canisters had a preservative in it. I would think a medicine bottle would work very good. I would think pharmacists would help you out and they should fit in your baggie. Maybe a cute label on it to indicate that it is not medicine. Deanna

As far as the thread color inside, you could use pretty much anything inside the pants to FLAG they are the blue ones. You could even just write something on the white pocket material with a sharpie. As far as hanging in the closet, hang the blue pants on a different color hanger than the black pants. If you are using wooden or don't have any different color hangers, then put a tag or something on the hangers that hold the blue ones.

Yes, it can probably be fixed. Usually what happens is that the oil solidifies and gums up the things that should turn. Take it out of the cabinet Find the maintenance manual Get a spray can of WD-40 Set up a place where you won't have to move things for a while. Time will be your friend. Take lots of pictures as you do this, so you can put things back together. Remove the needle, bobbin and cover over the bobbin area. Remove the bottom plate or cover and the cover at the needle end. That should reveal all kinds of rods and things. Place the machine on something absorbent and spray all the places where rods go into other rods or other pieces with the WD-40. Let it sit and soak for a few hours. Spray them again, and by hand, try turning the wheel slowly. Wipe off any gunk that comes out, let it sit some more Repeat until things turn easily Then, do the regular lubricating with the sewing machine oil and grease like the manual says and put it back together.

I don't know what bone would feel like, Linda, but they may well be. I thought celluloid was fragile and the instruments are solid. The needle case screws together. Would bone be treated to do that? What would the pointed thingie be for? It wouldn't be strong or sharp enough to punch leather like the awl is. Is it a little travel kit? I'm really curious. It's a pretty little thing and from some of the flowers being worn off, it must have been used. Lori, my DH would do the same if he thought he could use it in any way, but he's not getting his mitts on this little guy!
