Your cabinets are lovely, must you paint them? If you must, I agree with choosing something else first, such as the granite. If you're doing your backsplash too, perhaps go tile shopping. If you fall in love with something, it will help narrow down your paint choices. Easier to do it that way as paint choices are much larger than granite/ tile choices.

Hi - working on a new build, authentic, rustic European Farm house. We are wanting to do plaster wall, keeping them white. Do we need to seal them? I've looked at California One Kote, and seen that several people have not sealed it, including in damp areas like bathrooms. My contractor's plasterer, doesn't seem open to this. Any help would be great. Thank you!

the 2 x 4 can easily be removed, it was used to hold up the soffit. To avoid damage to the existing plaster use a reciprocating saw with metal/wood blade and cut the nails, and board into pieces if needed. It doesn't hold anything up now. Just a tip, measure the 2 x 4's in the wall and write it down for reference. 2x4's in the past were bigger than now and makes a difference when buying windows and doors. Today they're 1 1/2" thick by 3 1/2 wide. Originally they were actually 2" thick by 4" wide and later reduced in size to 3 3/4" wide. Measure your total plaster thickness and you'll find it's 3/4" thick so 1/2" thick sheet rock is to thin and must be built up to match the existing plaster. Also the exterior sheathing ,may be 3/4" boards compared to 7/16" sheathing today. All these little changes in dimensions should be noted to save yourself a lot of trouble it you decide to buy doors or windows.
