Update of the PB Neena Quilt

I just want to update that I did order and got the Pottery Barn Neena quilt. It's a different look than my RH duvet but I like it as a change. It unexpectantly adds a bit of warmth to the room and the green is perfect. It's hard to tell from the photos but it matches well. Wasn't sure I was going to keep it at first but now I am glad I did. Thanks to those who gave me their input. I know someone said it would give them a headache, but I find it rather warm and cozy. Still uncertain if I should paint the room BM Olive Branch or leave it. Also was thinking about Farrow and Ball Vert de Terre but in some photos it looks too light and the swatch in the store made it look too blue. I may need to buy a tin.

I also painted the trim around the unsightly air conditoner the same color as the walls which did indeed camouflage it well. Still working on pics for over the bed or something similar to Roseabbey's iron scroll that she has over her bed. Tks again!

I love your quilt! I recently painted a few pieces of vintage furniture an ivory/cream color, and have been looking for a quilt that has the blue and green. This could be the one~thank you for posting the picture. ;o)

Thanks. It works well since I have some blue in the room. It's also made well. I turned over my Rh duvet to the solid white side and folded the quilt down.

Ha, Shee! Hi there.. I am hanging in and doing pretty ok! I'll catch you in email soon. It's been a very crazy last year. I havent been for awhile but here is a PB outlet and a Restoration Hardware outlet. I wasn't very impressed with the Restoration Hardware outlet. If you are looking for bedding, I recommend Ralph Lauren too. As for the pick stitch with the cats? Yeah, I think I'd select another style LOL! As I remember, you have some active cats.

Hmmm, I don't know about the weight but the measurements seem fine. I won't buy a quilt under 108" wide for a king and LOTS of quilts are a lot less than that ( and at very nice stores too) but the Lara was surprisingly 108". Maybe you could measure your bed so you know exactly what size width you will need. I did that after I kept ordering too small quilts. You may find you need to go to a coverlet size instead - I rarely see quilts over 108". Most are between 102 and 106. I would measure the Lara too, if it's their error they should pay return shipping.

I think I prefer layout #1. #3 is okay, but I don't typically love a bed under a window unless there isn't anywhere else to put it. Your room is quite large, so I don't think the corner layout gives you any advantage. (I once read where someone, maybe here, said something like "show me a bed angled in a corner and I'll show you someone who didn't measure their furniture before buying it." Right or wrong, now I think of that every time I see an angled bed!) I think it would be nice to have a couple of chairs at the other end of the room, if you think you would use them. Or maybe a long window seat with some storage in it. Or a desk? Or craft table? I know you're experimenting by laying out your comforter on the floor, but if you got some of those moving discs, you could quickly and easily slide your bed over to that other spot under the window to see what you think. You could even sleep there a few nights to get a feel for what it would be like. We did that in our last bedroom and it helped a ton. By the way, I also have that Soleil duvet cover. I have a collection of covers as we use just the cover with nothing inside in the summer, and I change them out a lot since we have cats that spend time on the bed. Anyway, two things....I have other Pottery Barn duvet covers that are much smoother fabric and they wash much more nicely. Straight out of the dryer they are smooth and soft, and don't have wrinkles, and they have never shrunken in size. The Soleil is kinda scratchy, and wrinkled quite a bit, even though I washed on gentle and dried on low, and removed while still a bit damp. I spent quite a bit of time smoothing out the wrinkles with my hands. Much more of an aggravation is that the cover shrunk. The pre-washed size was generously sized and perfect for our king bed. The freshly washed duvet cover is now too short on the sides. I typically LOVE my PB duvet covers, but this one, being scratchy, wrinkly and shrinky, not so much! So be careful with the washing/drying, and if you end up not liking this one, try another. I don't buy much else at PB, but I do truly like a lot of their bedding.

Out of all of them, I like the 1st or 3rd that I posted. IMO, a fully upholstered bed looks more finished than just a headboard. I think the 1st nicely mimics the curves in the nightstands and dresser and feels a bit more traditional, as does the furniture. Do you know how tall the nightstands are? They should come within an inch or two of the height of the mattress.

I've had that quilt since it first came out. It wears and washes well. I painted the walls Buxton Blue, which is blue-green. I still love the quilt, but after 3yrs, am (already!) tired of the paint color. It's fine in summer, but just a tad too dark in the gloomy light we get this time of year.

Talking paint colors makes my head spin, but I do love the quilt it's beautiful with the bed and the room. Well done.

I know Buxton Blue..nice color. That's why I am afraid of Olive Branch. I think I can deal with green easier than blue. I think I would tire of blue's more quickly. And on a snowy cold day like this, blue makes me feel colder.

Very, very pretty! The quilt looks lovely and what a difference painting the ac trim made. I'll be waiting to see what color you choose if you decide to paint. I like the color you have, but think it can be fun to try something new. If you hate it after a few months, you can always go back. At least, that is what I am telling myself as I try to decide what color (geen, grey/blue, toffee, cream, etc.,etc.) to paint our master and guest rooms-lol.

Tks cyn427. I may try painting a wall and if I don't like it, I have some of the BM Fernwood left over to repaint it back. I will see how I feel in Spring when things are light and airy.

The guilt is very pretty and goes nicely in your room. Sometimes when we order something it is not exactly what we expected in our mind so it takes a few days to know whether you like something or not. I was at Home Sense last week and they had 1 of those scrolls left.

Looks great and painting the air-conditioning trim really helped a lot. Quilt matches well with your picture on the right wall and your bedside lamps. NICE JOB!!!

My daughter has the same PB quilt and ended up buying a new area rug to go with it. Thanks deedee- I'm glad to know that it washes well.
