I tested this color and did not see any peach or orange in it. In my light I thought it had a very slight green undertone.

Just so you know..... in the Historical Colors, there is no 'recipe' relation to colors on the same strip. In the regular Classic Colors, you do have a recipe segue, dark to light and can *usually* count on the same undertones but not so with Historical colors.

That said, it may be that you're seeing orange/peach with the Putnam Ivory in relation to the other paint colors in your home, especially if you can see them from your kitchen. Or it could be the lighting in that particular space, paint color in relation to the wood tones..... Not saying it's orange/peach but just saying your eyes may not be deceiving you.

I just finished painting my spare bedroom putnam ivory this afternoon, and I'm not sure what to think of it...
It kind of looked like flesh toned bandaids ( western exposure - setting sun). Hopefully I love it in the morning :)

I've had a heck of a time choosing tan colors. Painted the kitchen & dining room BM wilmington tan one evening, and it looked awful the next day in full sunlight - like a butterscotch pudding explosion. I repainted it BM lenox tan and really like it. It's beige/tan/gold during the day and takes on a greenish cast at night which actually looks good also.

Then I painted the mudroom & hallway BM shaker beige (on the same strip as lenox tan) but found it had pinkish tones in the daylight. I was thoroughly frustrated. Went back to the store and the very nice BM (Benjamin Moore) man printed out the formula for shaker beige and for 50% lenox tan. Almost identical, except the shaker beige had a tad more red tint. Went home with a gallon of 50% lenox tan and repainted the mudroom & hallway. It looks really similiar to the shaker beige but without the pinky cast in the evening.

Next project to tackle - the master bedroom. Sheesh, can't wait to see what winner (not) I pick for the first coat, lol.

Yes, yes, I agree that the Putnam Ivory does have the look of flesh toned bandaids. The light from my DR has a western exposure and it hits on part of the wall which I have already painted. It's so weird. part of the wall which does not receive the western light from the dining room window looks yellow/ivory.

I agree with the Shaker Beige and pink. I have a sample pot of Lennox and it is too dark at night.

I am curious about what you meant by 50% lenox tan. What other color makes up the 50%.

If you look on the BM website at the personal color viewer, and then historical colors, and get on Putnam Ivory, then look down at the whole spread of colors below. You can pretty easily see on the spectrum that it does have some orange tones in it.

Shaker Beige, judging again by the spectrum, would possibly have some pink undertones.

But, as others have mentioned, your lighting and the cabinetry, etc in the room can influence how the color appears as well. What colors are your cabinets, flooring and countertops? How much natural vs artificial light is there in the space? When will the color matter the most - what time of the day do you spend most of your kitchen time?

Mailynn, I had the store mix a gallon of BM Lenox tan, with only 1/2 of the required colorant added.

Tonight I painted the powder room BM decatur buff. I think I like this one :)
Really wanted to try a sage green color, but I have so many "oops" gallons of paint kicking around that I thought I'd better use some of them up...

Also learned tonight that excess caffeine makes for a poor cutting in job, lol.

I discovered saturation percentages with Benjamin Moore too (thanks to this forum!). The person at the store said that it isn't a matter of having more white in the paint, but rather the computer calculates less saturation of colorants. I tried a creamy avocado at 50%. Should have perhaps tried it at 25%, as one can always go 'up'.
