Herbal or nicotine free cigarettes

Have you heard of them?

I'm debating on buying a pack to try. IF I could be lucky enough to find a place that sells them in my town..

I've tried quitting smoking many times, can't seem to make it past 6 months.

I've heard that herbal cigarettes work somewhat to help you quit. Then I heard of nicotine free cigarettes.

Has anyone tried these?

Try Chantex (spelling alert) My DH and I quit 7 months ago after trying every other thing under the sun. We smoked for forever.

Chantex is a wonder pill. Talk to your Dr. Just get ready for some vivid dreams.

I second the Chantix in conjunction with this book.

I also have an e-cig like ChubbyRat that I fill with 0 nic juice for the times when I just want to pretend. LOL

Hi Toni, Yup, my 5th Anniversary as tobacco free is at end of this month, yippeeeee. I had one day recently when I really wanted a cigarette, just one day, I felt the want for it & just let it be; it was fitting for the circumstances. It was a couple of wks after the Hurricane (Sandy) & I had to go to Coney Island & meet w/ the FEMA folks to find out what expenses I might recoup. Something abt the peculiar circumstances, the long bus ride there, the physical tiredness of schlepping over there early on a Sunday morning & trying to sort my way through a large crowd w/ a cane & a laptop. COPD = chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, yes it's lung disease, not so sure abt classification of 'permanent'. I'm sure my lungs have had a lot of opportunity to clean up their act w/out all that tobacco smoke getting in their way. Did your friend stop smoking?? Am hoping so. When I quit 5 yrs. ago, cigarettes were more than $9-10 per pack, maybe $7-8 bootleg (untaxed). I'd actually switched to hand-rolled tobacco when I was out of work as the cost of cigarettes was out of reach. Probably now abt $12-13 & $9-11. Sadly, municipalities around here have become SUPER dependent on the tax revenues they keep adding on to cigarettes here (same w/ Lotto revenues).

I avoid chemical odor "treating" products like the heavily advertised ones, as I'm "sensitive," and many products just mask odors. There's an old wive's tale - always test a spot first, of course - spray vodka (some would say a waste!) on musty clothes or cigarette-y clothes & hang in fresh air. I'm a proud ex-smoker. Sometimes takes a few spritzes & airings. I have many pets and don't want to seem like I'm shilling for a product but if it's okay on here, let me know (I'm new) - this stuff got moth ball odors out of old baby clothes! Dry cleaner couldn't! I'm a big soaker in various stain removal powders & sometimes washing items in washer with double detergent (careful with size of washer, etc....it works in my washer well, but everyone has a different model) then run a full cycle without detergent to rinse. Just some of the stuff I tried for that moth ball disaster. My mother's generation! Ugh!

I am a smoker, but I don't smoke in my apartment. Former smokers and never been smokers tell me my apt. doesn't smell of smoke. This is what I did 1: Washed down the walls. I couldn't wash the ceilings, because they're that cardboard cheap stuff. The ceiling in my kitchen has been painted over, but none of the others have. 2: Washed in hot water and bleach, or simply got rid of any and all curtains. Disposed of all blinds too. (They were cheap, so it didn't matter, if you have expensive blinds that are made of plastic you could probably wash them down with hot water. 3: Sniffed around my place a lot and ran around with a bottle of Dawn power dissolve. Honestly, that stuff worked fantastic for the little corners and things I found where the smell would linger. I also used several bottles cleaning all around my windows, in the little cracks, etc. I always made sure to do this on warm days so I could keep the windows open 4: Speaking of windows, when I was home, I lived without the AC, bought a bunch of cheap box fans, and ran them in reverse in every room I could. When I wasn't home, I ran the dehumidifier. The problem with cig. smoke is that it's sticky. (Smoke from various illegal substances is even worse, I know this because the people who lived here before us smoked a lot of that) The moment any moisture gets in, it mixes with any dried sticky smoke and hydrates it, making it much smellier. The humidifier dried it up. 5: Again, washed down the walls, after several months of "Fan when home, humidifier when not" 6: Scrubbed bathroom tile with Dawn power dissolve and then used a Clorox bleach pen on the grout. 7: Bought a shark floor steamer and washed the kitchen floor quite often. That eliminated the need for any harsh floor detergent. Distilled water works the best in one of those, and you can get a gallon of the stuff for about a buck. It worked wonderful, especially getting into the little cracks. 8: For the carpeted floors? (which is everything but the kitchen and bathroom) I knew that would be a problem, so I just went crazy on it. Made carpet freshener from baking soda. For every box, I mixed a half a teaspoon of cinnamon. Try this before you do it yourself, because some people find that even that little can make them sneeze. I took each room, one at a time, pulled the furniture out, sprinkled the carpet freshener liberally around the room and left it. Preferably, I did this when we were going out for a few hours. When I came home I vacuumed. Did this with each room about three times, then I would... 9: Rent a carpet steamer (Or, call a professional, but renting was cheaper) steam cleaned the carpets. 10: Continued to vacuum and use my home made freshener whenever possible. Didn't move all the heavy furniture out of the way anymore though, unless it was spring/fall cleaning. Just vacuumed as I normally do, but used the freshener. 11: Put boxes of baking soda into all closets and in cabinets. (after cleaning them, of course) Since doors and cabinets are kept shut, it's hard for them to be aired out. The baking soda helped a lot. Also, if I could I kept the doors open. The biggest problem? People who came over started griping that they could smell the cat's litter boxes, when they never had before. So, we learned to changed them the moment someone came over. (Not that we don't changed them a lot anyway, but we'd go to the extra effort) and also switched to a sawdust type litter that works better than any litter I've ever tried at covering up the smell with a natural scent (pine or cedar) No, I didn't use baking soda in the litter box, never found it helped all that much. I do put a layer of newspaper on the bottom though, to help absorb the urine. Since I use the newspaper for compost, (only for non edible gardening) I never felt guilty about using it for the cats. And, my cat box is 12 years old and the bottom looks brand new.

Having been addicted to smoking, I agree with Chemocurl's last post although I strongly disagree with her post about the possibility that there are adults who smoke casually as there are people who drink casually. I watched some people die slowly of cancer and I smoked right through the stressful time. Quitting wasn't even an possibility in my mind, most ESPECIALLY at that time. I am a firm believer that a smoker can't quit successfully for life unless it is their personal choice, for whatever reason that might be, to quit. They can't do it for their husband or mother or child. This is sad and perhaps shocking, but true. This isn't something that be done for someone else. **All of this being a "general rule of thumb" - ANYTHING is possible in this world. But, we are talking about vast PROBabilities about this addiction and it's quit.** What a visit to a hospice COULD accomplish is to be another one of those things that tend to add up to that big package of thought or inspiration which is what inspires a person to be willing to do what is necessary to quit this addiction for life. It can't hurt and can do a lot of good. But, nobody who isn't interested in quitting would ever do that - only those who badly want to quit and need as much inspiration to keep the quit would do this. Smokers close their eyes as tightly as possible regarding their addiction, the effects it is having on them and also on their perceived ability to quit tomorrow if they really decided to. Someone who has never begun AND stuck through the quit process for several years can't possibly understand what smoking and it's quit involves. Is it worth it? I can't begin to tell you how much - and would be wasting my time to smokers who are not interested in contemplating a quit. I understand this stance completely, I've been there and I remember and have talked with hundreds who have quit and have a similar story to mine - and to the smokers here on this forum. What an interesting thread this has been.

I bought a few packs of the herbal cigarettes a couple years ago. I had quit smoking 8 years before that but was having some anxiety issues and I really craved a cigarette. Now I always keep a pack of the Honeyrose herbal cigarettes in the house. The last pack lasted me 4 months! They are not addictive at all, the taste is very mild. I wished I had known about these when I quit smoking because I'm sure they would have helped a great deal.

I doubt you will be able to find these in any smoke shops. I've checked several in my area and no one carried them, the place in the link is where I order mine from.

I agree about Chantix and the book recommended by magic az.--a powerful combination. I would have admired your 6 month quit because I've never made it more than a couple weeks, even with the patches--and even then I was cheating "just a little".

Quit just after Labor Day using Chantix, the book, and this website. Kind of like the KT dedicated to quitting.

I bought a carton of the ones in your link....all I can say is BLECK!!!!They are horrible!Very strong,make you cough and gag.I've smoked since I was 13/14 and I'm 56 now.ou'd think I could handle anything! LOL! But they are NASTY!And expensive.I've never tried the herbal ones,I've smelled some herbal ones a guy at work smoked....they smell nasty,didn't want to try them!I quit for about 3 months with Chantix and the e-cig,Then when I was getting all the cancer scares and health problems,I felt I "needed" a real cig.Thought I could just "smoke a couple" sad to say I'm right back to where I was before I quit.Smoking like a fiend.I really need to go back to the e-cig,it's almost like smoking.And I did feel MUCH better while on it instead of real ones.I got the 0 nicotine"juice".I do need to get back to it....I do need to get back to it....I do need to!!!!That's me chanting to myself! LOL!
Anyway,the point is,I wouldn't bother with the no-nicotine cigs,they still have all the other nasty stuff in them.If you feel you want to quit but still feel the need to smoke,I reccomend an e-cig.Lots of different ones now.

Oh Chubby! I was wondering how you were doing since I hadn't heard from you. I didn't know you had used the Chantix too. Refill that RX girl. My Doctor actually gave me several refills just in case. so far, so good.
Get the book too. It's almost like getting hypnotized while reading it don't you think Breenthumb?

I also make my own 0 nic juice just using Glycerin and candy flavoring.

My DD bought a couple brands of the electric cigarette after DH told her how several guys at work were able to quit smoking after using them. There are MANY people on YouTube talking about them and selling them. She has spent days watching them and reading about them.

She has not smoked a cigarette for TWO weeks now. She is using the e-cigarette but there is no nicotine in the ones she is smoking now. You can get nicotine but it's not the nicotine that is harmful ~~ it's all the other stuff that is poison.

She had tried one of them a year or so ago but it didn't have the "smoke" or flavor and it didn't help her.

My DH's doctor (for his emphysema) said they were safe and so did my DD's doctor.

You can buy several flavors. After watching the videos on YouTube and seeing how many mixed their own vlavors she went to The Executive Chef, which sells all kinds of cooking and baking stuff, and bought some flavorings and glycerin and has just started mixing or diluting her own. She thought the nicotine ones were too strong.

Some states sell them so check it out. My DD in FL says there is a kiosk in the mall near her so she is going to check it out. We sent her an e-cigarette and some starter flavors that just arrived 2 days ago. She says she likes it.

It comes with a battery and has to be plugged in. You can inhale it and you get "smoke". There is no smell or smoke that those around you can notice.

It is late now so I'll see if my DD will write about it tomorrow or the next day because she is the one who uses it. I just enjoy the not having to inhale second hand smoke even though she smokes outside.

Many people are using these now and I strongly urge anyone who is a smoker to try it. My DD didn't think she could ever quit but she has.

I know if there was an "easy" way I'd have done it already. But looking for all the help I can get.

Noda, I loved smoking. When my DH came home and said he was quitting, I decided I loved him more than my smokes. LOL! I decided I would quit with him. He had developed a smoker's cough... That cough is gone now.

Chantix took all the cravings away. You can do it.
