nanners, I placed one order with those folks, well over 12 years ago, and vowed 'never again'. I did not get any of your aforementioned varieties, however. I did get 'Black Giant' mulberry, which is nothing more than a non-descript row-run M.alba seedling, producing bitter little fruits that are anything but giant - but they do ripen from red to black. It worked well as a diversion crop to draw birds away from the cherries and strawberries, but it's going bye-bye this year. I do have a buddy in NV who bought a number of figs from 'em and actually got some decent plants, though I don't know if he got Patrick's Supergiant - I know he had 'Mystery X', which he sent wood from one time. Another buddy, in NJ, bought one of the 'Cannonball' black walnut seedlings. Still hasn't borne nuts yet, so who knows - will seedlings of the Cannonball tree produce nuts that are as big - and are the nuts themselves really big, or do they just have a really thick husk on them? Then, even if the nuts are big, what's the kernel %? He sent me some scionwood from it a couple of years back, but who wants to graft an unproven seedling BW - especially one from an outfit who's just as likely to have sent you just a run-of-the-mill BW seedling as one that actually descended from the 'Cannonball' tree(if such an entity even exists!)? Cold-hardy bananas? I suspect they're just Musa basjoo. Hey, I've got one growing here that was sent to me by a friend who's got it growing in MI!

Hi Arbo retum, 2 years ago I got so sick of the Lily Leaf beetle I ripped up all the lilies and threw them on the compost pile. But I couldn't resist taking some of the gorgeous Lilies that Ontheteam brought to the swap last weekend, that were leftover from the Children's Hospital plant sale! The beetles haven't shown up yet, and I have not heard of the vinegar solution, but did hear that you could take a cigarette, and crumble up the tobacco and spread it around the base of the plant. So I bummed a couple cigarettes from a friend, and did so. Since tobacco is an insecticide and the larvae pupate in the soil, perhaps this will work? I figure this will be reasonably safe for beneficial insects. I have organic gardens, and will not spray pesticides. I am curious if the vinegar spray works!

I smoked a little over a pack a day and a good choice for me was the "tornado" at totally wicked USA or it is called the "ego" at Janty USA for $80, the price of a carton and the battery lasted several cartons before dying. Madvapes.com has something that looks very similar on sale now for $50 called the "hello" and the battery should last longer since it has higher mah than the tornado/ego. The tornado lasted between 6-8 hours of constant vaping before needing to be recharged. I had the e cig glued to my lip till I got past the withdrawals and got a higher nicotine level. If you smoke as a pacifier like I do you can eventually upgrade to a mod. The ego/tornado and hello are still pretty small battery's that last much longer than the cigarette size. These are all 510 models and will work with 510 carts or 510 cartomizers. Don't throw away your used up or empty carts or cartomizers because you can refill them with the e-liquid to save some money. Most people recommend the 510 model as a first e cig because it has more of a throat hit than other models and the flavor is decent. If you find you want more throat hit you can buy a low resistance atomizer that will give a stronger throat hit but you will use up more liquid. You can also buy adapters for most e cigs that will let you try other models carts or cartomizers such as a 510 to kr808 adaptor lets me use the kr808 cartomizers on my 510 battery for only a few dollars. Also, I thought the tobacco flavor that comes with the totally wicked Kit was the nastiest flavor and their juice is way more expensive than other vendors so buy juice elsewhere. I like the madvapes fruit flavors and I originally thought I wouldn't like anything that wasn't tobacco or menthol flavor. Boy was I wrong it is so much more fun to try different flavors. Choose a manual battery over an automatic battery or else you risk having your drag cut off before you are satisfied. Also, if you start to vape more than you smoke like I did your inhaling will get longer cause you can breathe better. At first i just cut down my cigarettes until I realized how much better vaping tasted, smelled, and left my mouth feeling cleaner. However, from what I see on the e cig forums most people just stop smoking once they try vaping. As long as you get there without wanting to kill yourself like people on Chantix. Hope this helps don't be afraid to ask questions at the e cig forums they have all been there and are really friendly and helpful. There are also throw away cigarette type models for around $10 if you just want to try it but buy some juice too so you can see the difference.

I haven't specifically used those fixtures, but we have used compact flourescents in our incandescent fixtures for years. I don't like them very much for several reasons: 1. Less light. I live in old, dark houses. I like bright light. But I've adapted to the dimness. And according to "Sir Walter Eliot" (In Jane Austen's, Persuasion) the dimmer light is far kinder to a lady's complexion as she ages! 2. Ugly, if noticible. I hate using cfs in pendants b/c you can often see them. Depending on the fixture (e.g. entryway) I sometimes go to the trouble of getting Edison style bulbs b/c they look pretty. 3. Clamp on shades don't sit right. On my old lamps, if no harp exists, the shades wobble on the cfs. 4. Color of light. Sometimes the paint color doesn't look quite right. I'm finally switching over from cfs to incandescents in my kitchen b/c the cfs are messing up the soft yellow color I want to use. (I try to justify being an energy hog in this manner by being something of a ludite in other respects--very few electronic devices used in my home--no tv, stereo, multiple appliances, etc.) Luckily, my town is no longer bound by prop 24 b/c of all the historic housing. If you are, you do have the option of installing the cheapest cf fixture you can find at the Home Depot, and changing it after the inspection (and then you have the option of using cfs). I don't like feeling bound to only one type of bulb. Not for any rational reason, I suppose. I just feel that my free will is being imposed upon. I like to have options. Despite all the things I dislike about cfs, we mostly use them. Hope that helps a bit... :-) Francy
