My DD! She drives the rest of us crazy! Sometimes (in car) I have to tell her to stop talking *at* me, I can't concentrate, I need to drive. Then there are the conversations that go on forever b/c someone's just not getting it. I must have spent 5 minutes at dinner last night trying to describe to my dad where/why I thought they were putting catch basins in on my uncle's street. It started with my dad saying he drove that road around 3pm, noticed surveyor was at lot behind my uncles' (he's on the corner). I said yes, at 4:45 I saw the flags and OBTW they were putting in catch basins on that (short) road. Dad said he saw the patched asphalt. I said well the heavy equipment was there, and I saw the concrete storm drains off to the side of the road. *That* started it - "Where?" "At the end of the road near the land that's for sale" "There's no land for sale, that's the house, they just have the sign on the state hwy so people know it's for sale around the corner." "No, uncle told me last year land was for sale, sign said acreage, but the drains aren't on the hwy, they're on cross street." "Mr. X used to own that house, he sold it, but he owns all the land back behind all the way up to your other uncle, but he sold the house, he doesn't live there anymore, but he always had a problem with water running down the driveway of that house, he dug out so it doesn't run in the road. Maybe the new owner is doing something" ... it turned into a 20-min conversation, both of us getting frustrated, and all I meant was to mention they're working on the road and we shouldn't use it as a shortcut til they're done. Most conversations with my dad end up like the old Abbott and Costello "Who's on First?" routine...

IIRC this is the house reno purchased to renovate and sell, so it just doesn't make sense (as lisa mentioned above) to dump a lot more $ into cosmetics that in all likelihood a buyer is going to change anyway. (But then reno knows this from experience, don't ya? ;D ). Honestly, looking at it from a buyer's perspective, it looks presentable to me. (Although I do like it with shutters back on and more neutral garage door.) If a paint tweak makes you more comfortable, then I say go for it , it's a quick cheap fix. BTW, I was showing DH your house (because I've been bugging him to get into renovating, it's something we can do ourselves. My father enjoyed Real Estate dealing as a hobby and did very well for himself rehabbing homes on the side when he was younger). DH wants to know if the driveway is the kind where the gravel soaks up and disperses the water below ground? (I have no idea what he's talking about, don't see those around here, but he does, so hope I phrased it properly! ;D )

3 years into the new kitchen and I can say I am very very happy overall. A couple high level thoughts for those making decisions.. Love love love: Induction cooktop. Risky when we did it, cause it was newer tech. Love the control, the easy clean and the look. Warming drawer - get used many nights a week with kids/family schedules Soapstone counters - whoa.. The are are gorgeous and indestructible Drawers for all lower cabs- sooooo much easier to use! Miele MW/convection oven - so great to have a second oven and a mW in one box. Things I'm less in love with... Oven is very large, takes a looong time to preheat. Dislike digital Really wish we could've afforded the built in fridge.. Backsplash is ok. I don't hate it but I don't love it. Simple to change, will probably do sometime. It took us a long time to get the kitchen done and it was a major remodel (tore down walls and stuff. But I am so glad we did! Good luck to everyone on the journey!
