We were lucky to have a half inch of rain here last week.....sorry so many are experiencing awful weather.

Flakes have just started falling in outside of Philadelphia. I don't care if we get 100 inches of snow as long as the power stays on. Mine was out for five days -- Wednesday through Sunday. I stayed somewhere else, but came back to check on the house twice a day. It was brutally cold in here. With ice and wind on the way along with a ton of snow, I am expecting to be without power again. The difference this time is that I will be snowed in! Brrr. I have enough firewood, so I will huddle in front of the fire as much as possible.

Good luck to all in the path of this storm If you don't hear from me, you will know I have to power and therefore no internet. Boo hoo.

I am thankful that I work inside because Oklahoma suffered from a devastating heat wave today (I heard we hit 46 degrees F!) and I'm not sure I would have survived exposure to such intense heat for more than about 10 minutes. It was so hot today that goosebumps I've had since the first polar vortex have not only receded but gone inside so that I'm now head to toe dimpled.

Not too bad here. We had some snow this afternoonâ¦â¦.just a couple of inches. We went to a neighbor's for dinner tonight (short ribsâ¦.delish). We have a steep driveway and decided it would be easier to drive down the driveway than walk down it so got in the car but couldn't get up the driveway because it's a very wet snow and a little icy so we walked. Good thing we were staying in the neighborhood. It was very beautiful coming home. It's suppose to rain and wash the snow away tonight. Hope so because I have my movie group tomorrow.

We haven't had too much snow in the past 10 days, but the snowpack that we did have is literally feet tall. I almost can't see my mailbox, all the landscaping is totally covered. We have had cold, cold, cold. Many, many nights 15 below zero and some days not even cracking zero. Yesterday it got to 20 above, and it felt like a heat wave. Not really, but was actually quite pleasant. I keep telling myself we are getting closer to Spring everyday!

This has been the coldest winter we have had in a long time. Lots and lots of snow. The school kids around here have either been out of school or been on a 2 hour delay. I think today has been the first day there hasn't been a delay. The snow has not melted much at all due to it being so cold. We have had our fire going night and day. We usually don't see the snowplow much due to being in the far corner of our county but we have seen it almost every day. They have done a terrific job. The past couple days we have had beautiful sunny days. It is going to take a while for all this snow to melt. They say it will warm up early next week. I think we are all ready for it to show up. Is anyone else ready for Spring like I am? I often think of the people up in the northeast. They have been hit so much harder then we have. I pray everyone is safe.

Here in Westchester County, it is still snowing. I agree about the power. I can put up with a lot of things, but when the power goes out things become miserable.

We considered a house generator, a few neighbors have them, but decided against it. My DH bought a small generator in case we need it.

I'll be out there shoveling. it will be my workout since I won't get to the gym!

Here in Long Island NY we're dealing with our sixth storm of the winter. I've been shoveling, cleaning snow off my car, washing salt residue from my floors and I'm just dammed tired! Today I fell on my tailbone outdoors so I'm gonna take a hot shower and some Aleve. Then I'm going back to bed! Turns out we got 14 inches of the Fluffy Stuff Thursday. My nice neighbor came by with his snowblower yesterday so we're okay.

This is my first winter in Florida and to be honest, I miss having a snow story. I'm a tough Yankee at heart and enjoy the adversity bad weather brings. I'm not being sarcastic here folks. This balmy weather just doesn't seem real.

Just sitting in my living room watching the snow and wind. We have about 15 inches or so and very large drifts. I am really tired of this winter weather and will be so happy for some spring time weather.

We are totally shut down...no schools open, state offices all closed, almost impassable roads. The only good news is the temp is actually 30 after being zero yesterday. It will snow all day with wrap around snow tonight. I don't care about the snow. I just worry about being without power and I don't have a generator. I can't go anywhere because I have four cats and two dogs and wouldn't leave them in a cold house. I went grocery shopping last night (like every other nut did) so I won't starve.

We actually made it to 30 today. Tomorrow, more snow. A couple of days ago, they said that we might get a dusting. Now it is supposed to be 2". Rats! I'm due to fly out tomorrow afternoon to go to San Francisco.

we woke up to about an inch of ice on everything...lost one of our precious Leyland Cypress trees about 40 feet tall that was a barrier on our fence line...came completely out of the ground at the root system...

This morning two inches of snow was on top of the ice but it got up to 50 and everything is gone...Lots and lots of downed trees...My lumberjack son is gonna be one busy kid the next few weeks cleaning up!!

Atlanta did a bang up job this time round but it didn't get as bad as they predicted (thank you mother nature!)

Fran, I understand what you're saying about liking the drama of a weather event. Just be patient....the hurricane season will be upon you soon enough, lol.

We're supposed to get hit with another few inches of snow tomorrow. It got up in the low 30s today, almost balmy when I walked to my car after work. Ice and snow still piled up but at least the ice was slightly mushy in the parking garage and not as slick as glass like it was this morning.

Looking forward to Next Wednesday..they're forecasting 65 for a high!!!!! Too bad I have to go shopping tomorrow. Going to have to go out early before the snow.

We've had two ice storms here in two weeks, which is unheard of on the NC coast. We generally might have something like this once every ten years. I've never missed this much work in one year for bad weather, and that includes hurricanes. We've missed a week out of the last two.

Fran, rhizo is right. Hurricane season will be here very soon. I hope it's a quiet one. You may not be wising for any adversity if a Category 3 or greater hurricane comes through. Adversity doesn't even begin to describe that experience. Like you, I'm not being sarcastic. I speak from experience of having gone through multiple hurricanes. I can do without that additional stress in my life. However, I love living on the coast, so that comes with the territory.
