White slipcover-Need help finding fabric to cover dark upholstery
Comments (1)Where are you getting it slipcovered? When I got a quote on getting my chairs slipcovered I had the same problem but the upholsterer had many different weights and types of fabrics available to order. Does your upholsterer not have access or are you using a private person? The problem with using something underneath is that with a white cover you will likely be washing it fairly often and it will be a pain to arrange an underlayer each time. Maybe you could staple the underlayer on?...See MoreWhite Slipcovered Sofas
Comments (11)I have the white slipcovered ektorp sofa from ikea. We really like it. It looks great and the slipcover washes well and seems like it is well made and will last for a long time. I did buy an additional one so that I can alternate them but I don't think I needed to, in retrospect. I don't think it's the most comfortable sofa in the world, but it's not too bad. I hear they get more comfortable as they get more use - ours is at our beach house and doesn't get full time use, so that could be why. If you live near an Ikea store you might want to visit it and sit on it first. My boys get them very dirty - sand, suntan lotion, food, etc. and they always come out perfectly clean. To me the best thing is that you can replace the slipcover for like $50! If you get sick of white, you can get something else. We have another white slipcovered sofa from Crate & Barrell and it's somewhere around $350 to buy an additional slipcover and I actually think the Ikea slipcover is a better quality!...See MoreHelp - color remover turned oyster linen slipcover bright white!
Comments (20)I can't see any difference in the color of the chairs at your table. So, either my monitor is not showing the difference, or it is so subtle, that you've matched well enough that no one but you will notice. May I ask what it would cost to replace one of the side chair slips? I know you don't want to do that, and even if you did, the fabric will likely be from a different dye lot or fabric bolt. Just curious as I like the look of the oyster linen slip covers! Glad you found a solution that you are happy with!...See MoreIkea Ektorp Blekinge White slipcover discontinued
Comments (17)We are going through this with the Kivik right now. We had one with a white cotton cover but it was destroyed in the great fire/flood of '15. We went to replace it and found the white cover was quite different. I haven't tried to wash it yet, but I've noticed it catches grime much easier than the old cotton one. My DDs go to private school and wear white shirts. The old uniform shirts were cotton and you could get the stains out, but they were replaced with poly shirts that hold onto stains, so I'm not hopeful that the new poly Kivik cover will fare any better. It also doesn't feel as nice, but all the rest of our soft furnishings are natural fabrics, so I'm a bit biased....See MoreOakley
