Fun, fun, fun. You three are cuties. I think this is the first time I've seen Dlynn? Maybe not. Looks like food, gifts and company were all the best.

We did have a great night. Of course, I've met both Dlynn and EJ before, and EJ's DS#1. It was a real pleasure to meet Dlynn's family, two sons, her DH, and their collie, Tanzi, who sadly had to sit out dinner patiently in the car. Her boys had lots to share about their activities and the conversation at the table never stopped.

The restaurant we went to was new to me and very good. Max arrived after we ordered for everyone, but he thought the choices and the food were excellent. Both he and I had bad traffic, it took me just barely under two hours to get to the restaurant and only 38 minutes to get home. A few blocks from the restaurant we met at was another restaurant with a huge sign that said "Traffic Sucks, Come in for a burger". I got there at 5:30, Dlynn and family and Jessica were already having a lively conversation. Max arrived about fifteen minutes later and it was non stop talk until just before 8. Jessica's DS#1 arrived after dinner, but in plenty of time to tell us about his time on the DU campus. I had met him before on Phyllo Phun Day, he is taller, smarter, more handsome and just as nice as was then.

Jessica came with huge bags of wonderful treats from TJ's. I'm amazed she got it all here as carry on. She had pity on us because we probably will never have a TJ's. Utah has them, New Mexico, Kansas and Nebraska too, but Colorado sits right in the middle of those states in a TJ's black hole. The closest one for us is in Santa Fe. Dlynn has pictures of the treats from Jessica. She and her family drove up to the mountains for the weekend after we had dinner and she said she doesn't have internet access there so she'll post after they get back home. I can tell you that Max and I have already dug into the dark chocolate covered caramels and ginger that were in our bag and Ollie loves his treat.

Dlynn brought wonderful mixed mushrooms and almond toffee, both from her city for all of us and a few more things for Jessy, that I have already received from her. I used some of the mushrooms in a white wine sauce for chicken breasts last night and will use the rest tonight over roast beef. The mushroom farm that she got them from grows a wide variety of mushrooms - new to me in this mix were cinnamon cap mushrooms. They are small, on slender stems, and have a distinctive flavor. We loved them. I know we'll love the toffee too, but we're trying to stretch out the sweet treats and not overindulge.

I've been so lucky this year to meet Eileen and Helene in San Francisco and have Karen (Riverrat) and her husband come back to Denver and meet Dlynn and Max and me for breakfast, and now the dinner group last night. I hope more of you come to Denver.

CF get-togethers really are the best.

Hey Ladies! It was so nice to have spent breakfast time with Lee, Max and Dona last month in Denver...I just wish that Jessica would have been there!

If DS#1 ends up going to college in Denver I can pretty much bet that we will all be able to meet up.

Looks like you had a great time, and I am anxious to visit Denver myself. I have a first cousin who lives there that I haven't seen in over 30 years, but we've been in close contact lately via email and phone. I've never met any of her children and she has grandchildren by now! Of course I want to see Lee and meet Max and Dlynn.

Thanks for the info on the traffic between Denver and Boulder. I'll take that into account when Kevin and I plan our trip. If we get close to making an itinerary, I will let you know. I have to wait until I accumulate some vacation time, however. If I'm ever able to retire, I would like to take an extensive road trip through Utah and Colorado.

Thanks also for sharing the info and pictures - it's really getting me motivated!

I am only a 5 hour drive from Denver, and we are hoping to get there next summer to visit relatives. I hope that we can meet:) It looks like everyone had a super time.

Great photos! Especially love the 'shroom antlers, Dlynn! That Indian food looks delicious, especially the Tika Masala. Do I see any mixed pickle in there? Tried that once, just once.....it was nasty. But I like most other Indian dishes.

What fun! Sounds like everyone had a great time & lovely food. I don't think I've tried Indian food, I don't believe we have a restaurant here. I'll have to look out for one the next time I travel.

We are thinking our next road trip will be out to the Pacific coast via Kansas, Colorado, Nevada and Utah and then back home through Idaho, Montana and Minnesota. Hopefully lat this summer.......so watch for us ladies!

Sherry - the school has some really neat things going for it mostly I like that its not too far from home, and it's the quarter system (finals just before Thanksgiving, then home for a month!). We'll see, this one isn't on the top of his list.

Gina, I'm thinking(know)there is a pic, she needs to email it to us. LOL! Someone sent Lucy a couple of those years ago but I can't remember who it was???

Anyway, great seeing everyone! The food looks good too. Thanks for the pics and sharing your evening with us. Love the antlers too dlynn. I think EJ needs a crimson and cream/white shirt though...LOL!

I'm putting the summer dates on my calendar in case I can make the hop across the mountains. I'll have extra motivation as my sis who live in Aurora will have a new baby by then (yay, her first!)
no such luck on TJ's in Utah yet, if there was one I hope I would have heard about it

and if anyone is coming thru SLC next summer, well, we're working on our "guest suite" right now. Ok, it's a humble little bedroom, but ya'll are welcome. Free tours of the city included.

Lars, I'd love to see you and Kevin again. As you can see from my post it took a ridiculously long time to drive to Denver and in fact I got off the expressway and drove 15 miles on city streets to SAVE time. It's all in the timing - if you drive between the cities in the middle of the day or after the evening rush, it's not bad at all.

Chase, we'd love to meet you and Clive. I think it's great that you are planning another long car trip. And you would love Dlynn.

I do think that meeting other CF members is on of the most fun things about the forum - I'd love to meet many more of you.

Lisa you are right, that was an oops on my part. For so many years I have thought about how we don't have an Ikea or a TJs, and I was thinking that you have TJs, but no, you have an Ikea in the SLC area. We have an Ikea under construction, scheduled to open about a year from now. I think you need to visit your sister and the CFers here.
