Apple Squares with Cardamon Sauce

Seeing that a lot of you really like cardamon, here's a recipe I found in my SIL's Betty Crocker cookbook. I haven't made it but thought you might like to see it.

Apple Squares with Cardamon Sauce

Pastry for 8- or 9-inch two-crust4 pie

2 or 3 medium apples, each cut into 16 slices

8 tsp sugrar

8 tsp margarine or butter

Cardamon Sauce (below)

Heat oven to 425F. Prepare pastry as directed except - roll each round into rectangle, 16x8 inches. Cut each rectangle crosswise into 4 strips, 8x4 inches.

Place 6 apple slices oon half of each strip; sprinkle with 1 tsp sugar and dot with 1 tsp butter. Moisten edges of strips with water; fold pastry over apple slices and press edges together with floured fork to seal. Cut slits or apple shapes in tops of pastry squares.

Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until light brown, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm with Cardamon Sauce. 8 squares.

Cardamon Sauce

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 Tbsp cornstarch

2/3 cup water

1 Tbsp lemon juice

2 tsp butter

1/4 tsp ground cardamon or cinnamon

Mix brown sugrar and cornstarch in saucepan; stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve warm.
