Take a box of white cake mix...

I was asked to make 4 dozen cupcakes for our women's club card party, so when Pillsbury Moist Supreme white cake mix was on sale for 88 cents, I bought a couple of boxes.

I just found out that the person in charge of the food is now going with a Costco cake, so I have two unopened boxes of the aforementioned cake.

Tomorrow, I want to do some baking to use up at least one of the boxes--I'm thinking just making a couple of small rectangular cakes instead of cupcakes.

I don't have any buttermilk or sour cream for doctoring it up, or jello for making it a poke cake, but I do have some LorAnn flavoring, and of course, vanilla. I'm almost out of almond extract, though. I'm also thinking maybe just a sprinkle of powdered sugar (or powdered sugar with cinnamon) instead of frosting.

Does anyone have any ideas about how to doctor up this cake mix to make it more than just plain white cake? Thanks!

Smiles,
Sooz
