All the time! Photos?

It was difficult to get a good picture of the whole thing, with the frame, no glares, etc...so this is all I got!

I totally trust my local gal who owns her own shop.
She is an artist by trade, so she really knows what will complement the art.

I am never nervous about what we choose together... she has never let me down!

The gallery I used to go to had this cool mirror thingy that let you look at it in a way that made it seem finished (hard to explain). Unfortunately, they went out of business and when I tried to explain it to the gallery owner where I go to now, he looked at me oddly.

Yes! I recently had two pictures framed that I'd had leaning against the wall for a couple of years while I dawdled. I was worried that the frames would look too modern for the paintings, which were probably 1930's, because frames are so much wider now... but they look perfect (to me). A huge relief!

I had something framed at one of the national chain places and was pleased with the result. The funny thing was the employee (manager maybe?)that handed me the piece also handed me a piece of paper and a pen and told me I should write a thank you note to the framer. I don't know if it's their normal practice to ask you to do that or if the framer was new and needed feedback but I thought it was odd and presumptuous of him to tell me, more than suggest to me, that I should leave a note that I was happy with the piece. Plenty of times I contact managers to tell them about a good employee, but to be strong armed into thanking them was beyond the pale to me.

Daisy and LuAnn - you are lucky to have someone you trust, art is so personal and it can be tough deciding how best to display it. Maybe I should search out a framer like I did the woman who cuts my hair!

I obsess when I choose framing. Often going back several times before I make a decision. I do take the gallery owner's opinion, but find I have to tweak it sometimes. He knows how to best frame the art, but I have to make it suit my vision of the finished product.

My best friend is an artist and, thankfully, steered me to an incredibly talented framer that the majority of the artists in the area use. Just last week she framed my latest Phil Sonier piece. Her suggested frame was one I never would have thought of, but it turned out to be perfect!
For anyone out there looking for a great framer, I suggest you ask local artists who they use. Because they use framers on a much more regular basis than the average person, they know and use the best, reasonably-priced framers in your area.

Madtown, did you have meringue on the Ile? We were there on a rainy day, and the centers were chewy. They were soooo heavenly. I wondered if they were like that every day, dry or wet. But the lady in the bakery was so intent on correcting my pronounciation and I could barely ask for the cookies, let alone whether they always had chewy centers. I like to think they do, that I could go to Paris any day at all and eat them.
